Up for Debate: Obama warns Syrian president

President Barack Obama issued a warning to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against allowing the use of chemical weapons against rebel forces, threatening U.S. action. What do you think about not only the warning but also the prospect of Syria using chemical weapons?

A wonderful trip back home to Nashville. Took care of some dangling business and investment situations. Gave council to a couple of ,very appreciative son-in-laws.. Had lunch at ThePalm with high school friends and enjoyed a couple of days of golf with buddies from the Club.
Enjoyed Urban Grub,Sperrys,Ruth Chris,Flemings and of course Sylvan Park and McCabe Pub.
Glad to back to my winter home. Great golf today and a little nickel a point Gin.
An interesting conversation today over lunch. We agreed that one could be very upper middle class in 1960 approx on 12,000 dollars a year. after all federal and state taxes.
We also agreed rhat in 2012 it would tske 300,000 dollars a year to live the same way.
We agreed very readily that someone with an income that would result in 25,000 a month or 300,000 dollars a year after tax certainly was not wealthy by any means.
We were troubled by the fact that Obama would have the audacity to think a family with a griss income of 450,000 dollars a year was even remotely associated with wealth.
I told them that I had discovered a den of obama people on a Nashviile weekly internet newspaper. These people and people like them are miles and fathoms and light years away from us on the same subject. I drew quite a bit of laughter when I tried to describe the
vicous and hostile reponses these internet people had for anyone who had much more tan rent money and beer money.

The Constitution doesn't define the natural birth status, gdiafante. That is one of the errors our founders made by not specifying the natural birth status. But what do you think they meant by that specification on those two offices only? So someone with a Kenyan British subject father could become our president because he was born here? But the big issue here is; we don't know where in the hell he was born, do we?
We also don't know his legal name, do we? When did he officially change his name from Barry Soetoro to Barack Obama? Has he? We don't know, do we?
Why is his SSN shown as the number issued to a man from Connecticut decades ago. Wanna know how he got it? His grandmother worked in that office in Hawaii when that man died.
Why does he refuse to show his school papers? Is he ashamed of them? Or could it be because they show him being a foreign student? Hell, didn't he brag about teaching the Constitution? Was it a different one that what I was taught?

When did our laws change to authorize a 'naturalized' citizen to become president? Question: Has he even become an American citizen or is he still an Indonesian? We don't know, do we? If you do, let the rest of us know.

Yogi, thousands of people born in the USA and US citizens by birth are also citizens of other countries...they call it dual citizenship...if your goofy allegation is true, that BHO is an Indonesian citizen, because he was adopted by an Indonesian, that would not cancel out his US citizenship....thousands of American Jews are also Israeli citizens, for example and there is nothing to prevent any one of them from legally running for the POTUS job....I doubt if you would object to a dual citizenship Israeli-American running for POTUS, so long as he was a Republican.....right?

I agree with Loner. A unilateral strike by the US or even a joint strike with Israel would probably not be a wise tactical or strategic move. We should let our NATO allies have some of the glory which they can share with all the peace loving nations in the Middle East.
Considering the pattern of conflict and violence intertwined with the history of the region, the best any outside nation can hope for is to avoid being drawn into the cycle.
In the case of the United States, I believe our recent experiences should have taught us to pick our allies and our fights in the region very carefully.
I feel we should be certain potential adversaries know we have the means and the will to retaliate if provoked, and pull our forces back to American soil. I'm not advocating isolationism, and do believe maintaining quick reaction forces at forward locations is a prudent move, but let's fix our problems first, then we can try to babysit the world again.

You are right about dual citizenship, but Indonesia did not accept dual citizenship. A child had to be an Indonesian citizen for public schools. That is the reason his step father adopted him.
And no, I wouldn't accept anyone as President who didn't qualify according the Constitution our founders wrote. Again, why did they specify that requirement for those two offices? I'll argue Obama is the prime reason.
Another question, Loner. Why are you all so willing to accept a man who refuses to identify himself for that office. I'll ask again, is he even an American citizen? If he is, he can only be a naturalized citizen, certainly not a natural born citizen.
