Up for Debate: Pope's remarks on gays

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1:45am

Speaking about homosexuals, Pope Francis said recently, "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?" What is your reaction to hearing that from the pope?

A tiny miracle defying the odds with God's help: This is awesome! OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler's first child has survived two weeks after birth despite a pregnancy problem that is usually fatal, and a doctor said Monday that the medical team is cautiously optimistic about the girl's future.
Abigail Rose Beutler was born prematurely on July 15, weighing just 2 pounds, 12 ounces, Herrera Beutler announced Monday. Doctors had diagnosed a serious problem during the pregnancy called Potter Syndrome, in which impaired kidney function leads to low amniotic fluid. It is typically fatal because it prevents the fetus's lungs from developing.

Kosh, she can't bother to look up Muslims who have contributed to the U.S. She only focuses on the extremists then concludes they are ALL extreme. Limited worldview.

By: budlight on 7/30/13 at 12:48

OK, end of the fun. Blanket you are as judgemental as the next person and probably even more so.

Kosh, she didn't even ask me if I looked up anything she suggested; she merely ASSumed her position.

Some American Muslims were not born into the role; they converted. And some people who were Muslim have converted to Christianity. Tell me this Blanket, which religion will kill someone for converting to Christianity?

Jewish? Buddist? Can you think of one? If not, do some research about Christians i Egypt. Talk to some people who moved here from radical islamist countries. Ask them WHY they want to be in this Free country as opposed to their country of origin. Do y our homework.

I talk to people in my job and they seem to love this country more than Americans like you do.

You judge me. Shame on you Blanket. Why not embrace me and try to show me your light.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 12:52

I've tried being nice to you bud and it was pointless.

So, did you look up anything about what Muslims have contributed? Would you care to share that knowledge? And you know there is a difference between extremist Muslims that those who are not, right?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 12:53

Tell me this Blanket, which religion will kill someone for converting to Christianity?

Well, bud - what about the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition? What about the Salem Witch Trials?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 12:58

Consider the few centuries prior to 1980. People were living for centuries as Muslims. Show me major violence? Where was the violence in the world? Who started WWI? Was it Muslims? Who started WWII, which killed tens of millions? Who developed weapons of mass destruction? It was the Christians.

By: budlight on 7/30/13 at 1:02

Did I not say extreme Islamists? Did you read that?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 1:04

Well, that seems to be all you focus on. You do realize how small of a percentage of Muslims that is, right? Do you know the number of Muslims worldwide?

What Was World War I? World War I was an extremely bloody war that engulfed Europe from 1914 to 1919, with huge losses of life and little ground lost or won. Fought mostly by soldiers in trenches, World War I saw an estimated 10 million military deaths and another 20 million wounded. While many hoped that World War I would be "the war to end all wars," in actuality, the concluding peace treaty set the stage for World War II. Dates: 1914-1919
The Start of World War I
The spark that started World War I was the assassination of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. The assassination occurred on June 28, 1914 while Ferdinand was visiting the city of Sarajevo in the Austro-Hungarian province of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Although Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the nephew of Austria's emperor and heir-apparent to the throne, was not very well liked by most, his assassination by a Serb nationalist was viewed as a great excuse to attack Austria-Hungary's troublesome neighbor, Serbia.
However, instead of reacting quickly to the incident, Austria-Hungary made sure they had the backing of Germany, with whom they had a treaty, before they proceeded. This gave Serbia time to get the backing of Russia, with whom they had a treaty.
The calls for back-up didn't end there. Russia also had a treaty with France and Britain.
This meant that by the time Austria-Hungary officially declared war on Serbia on July 28, 1914, an entire month after the assassination, much of Europe had already become entangled in the dispute.
At the start of the war, these were the major players (more countries joined the war later):
• Allied Forces (a.k.a. the Allies): France, the United Kingdom, Russia
• Central Powers: Germany and Austria-Hungary

You posted your litany of atrocities by Muslims as soon as I pointed out that the Pope washed the feet of some Muslims. He is pursuing peace, you are pusuing divisiveness by posting the things you post.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 1:09

Nice copy and paste job. Care to reference it?

It still doesn't despute what I posted as to who started and participated in the wars. Hitler was a Christian, you know.

No I was just posting FACTS.

Hitler was a Nazi. Nazi's are not Christians. Hitler killed gays and christians. Do the math.

I'm going to work now. Got to earn some bucks to use for my charitable causes. And to pay for my medical bills not covered under Obamadon'tCare. Remember big business is getting a pass from him now. WHILE poor working class folks who have to buy his mandated insurance get no pass.

Ah, such is life in utopia. Speaking of Utopia, didn't I see you there?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 1:14

bud, apparently you don't know your history. Hitler was a Christian. Look it up.

Obamacare would work if you lived in a blue state where they set up exchanges.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 1:15

Many Nazis claimed to be Christians, bud. Do your homework!

Adolf Hitler & Christian Nationalism: Nazis’ Program of Positive Christianity

http://atheism.about.com/od/adolfhitlernazigermany/p/NaziChristian.htm

German Christians supported the Nazis because they believed that Adolf Hitler was a gift to the German people from God. German Christianity was a divinely sanctioned religious movement which combined Christian doctrine and German character in a unique and desirable manner: True Christianity was German and True German-ness was Christian.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 1:18

And you wonder why people are so adamant about the separation of church and state! If you understood history you might know.

Please inform me. Who has more authority, God or the Pope? We all know what God says about it. Now we know what the pope says about it. Who will you put your trust in?

I readily admit you know more about some subjects than I B2, but I also readily conclude I know more about some subjects than you (and your fellow posters) on this site; especially what is going on in this nation politically today.

That is a damn lie Comrade yogi. You know nothing.

See the 3 million on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janerio?
Why doesn't yogi ask to see his birth certificate? Is the Pope an usurper?
He says he was born in Argentina...but, was he?

The pope is white d7,that means he is alright, by yogi standards

jsnap - a voice of reason.

For me: Certainly not the Pope.

I have 2 hummingbirds outside the window. Definitely not a result of the Pope's creation. Only God could create such beauty. I love those little hummingbirds.

So everyone have a nice day. See ya'll tomorrow.

The holy cow jumps to the attacking Muslims and never posts anything about the Christian crimes. The events you posted were committed by extremist and not true Muslims. They are much like you, budlight, the talk the talk but have no clue as to what it is all about.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/30/13 at 1:56

No one has to judge you holy cow. Your words tell us just what kind of evil person you are.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 1:57

She thinks she knows more than the Pope, too.

A FACT? Based on your experience with me? Gee, you've never even met me. And if I hate hispanics, why did my mom name me after one?

bud, your mother named you Sydney Loco?

By: Captain Nemo on 7/30/13 at 2:04

So why did my brother lose his job in Florida in 1966 for standing up for black service men at the USO club? Didn't know that, did you?

We are just hearing about this today? Sure he did.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 2:06

lol, Nemo.

"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you."

It is just like the dimwitted Extremist Right-wing Tea Baggers to invent World History to fit their perverted needs. The holy cow is just as bad as Comrade yogi with history.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/30/13 at 2:13

Please jsnap tell us what God say about it.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/30/13 at 2:13

yogi didn't know we had allies during the Revolutionary War and bud had never heard of the Nuremburg trials. Oy vey.

I have 8 Humming Birds 23 Wild Turkeys and this morning I had 3 Deer in my front yard. But there was no Pope or a Holy Cow.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/30/13 at 2:24

Old bud can't beat me on Gods wonders. I don't have the count of how many diverse birds species there are in my yard or how many trees and plants can be found on my bit of heaven. But the Holy Cow thinks she got God in her pocket. LOL

By: Captain Nemo on 7/30/13 at 2:26
