Up for Debate: Preds match Flyers' Weber offer

Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 1:22am

How do you feel about the Nashville Predators' decision to lock down Shea Weber in a monster deal, matching the Philadelphia Flyers' offer on the Preds captain? Is it money well spent or too much money spent? What do you think it means for other potential deals or trades for the team?

You can boycott anybody the crazy libs tell you to, brrrrk. It's your prerogative. I think that feeling of righteousness you get from it is unjustified though ... and you're missing out on some great chicken.

By: brrrrk on 7/25/12 at 4:27

I once heard that Senor Wences and Topo Gigio were a big item.....

By: Beernazi on 7/25/12 at 4:30

Ben, aren't there any businesses you don't fratrinize because you don't like them for one reason or another? I have a few, some because I don't like where their money goes and who they support or because I just think the owner is a jerk.

Saw where Elton John was praising Bush. Should that raise any flags?

It's simple economics.... you know, free market and all that crap...

Why should I spend my money buying something from someone who will then take that money and use it to hurt someone. Like I said, Cathay can spout his opinion to his hearts content... but when he uses my money through the proxy of consumerism, that's a different deal.

I hope you're not boycotting the Hermitage Cafe..over a little grease and bullet hole..

By: BenDover on 7/25/12 at 4:41

You're fine to do that, brrrrk. I'm more tolerant of people who disagree with me though I guess; so I'll still enjoy his delicious chicken (and continue reward the somewhat-likely lesbian staff at the store in Smyrna) even though he and I don't see eye to eye on the gay marriage thing.

All the calls to destroy a man because he disagrees with me on gay marriage seem to be a little over the top. It's just this week's distraction for the occupy nuts, I think.

Could it possibly be the push for homosexuality in the USA was designed to take the peoples minds off of of Obama's push for for power?

Consider: Several months ago, Sen. Sessions of Alabama asked Sec. of Defense Panetta several times about him reporting to Congress for Constitutional authority to go into Libya, Egypt and now Syria and Pentta old Session several times in no uncertain terms that he got his authorization from NATO and the UN, not Congress.

Panetta told Sessions that did not get authorization from We The People (Congress) but he could as a courtesy if he wanted to provide Congress with some details of the Secretaries and Obama's plans for war that he didn't have to tell Sessions anything.

Congress has signed into law NDAA 2012 which was written to give whoever occupies the White House dictatorial power.

We are currently governed under the Constitution, not by it.

Ben, you're either an Idiot or being purposely obtuse....

This has nothing to do with opinion and has everything to do with the fact that he is using the proceeds from his business to hurt others... what don't you get?

By: yogiman on 7/25/12 at 4:54

Did you mean fatrinize or fraternize, Beernazi?

By: slacker on 7/25/12 at 4:57

IMO, the so called gay movement, is losing some support from sensible people, who want fairness for all. They're crying wolf over every small incident that offends them.
Demanding comedians jokes be censored, etc.
They would get more mileage, by picking their battles. Just don't buy the guy's damn chicken, if you disagree with his views. Its no big deal.

By: BenDover on 7/25/12 at 5:09

"hurt others"? I'm sure he doesn't see it that way, brrrrk. And do you want me to tell you on what causes you can or cannot spend your earnings?

He sees the erosion of traditional biblical values from our culture as something that's damaging society and a quick look around us might give weight to that observation.

The fact is that neither of us know what the outcome of the vast liberalization of our social culture over the last 30 years is going to do to society as a whole. He has one opinion about what's good for society on this issue and we have another.

It'll work itself out over time I think but I think all the screaming and frothing about this like it's a civil rights issue is doing harm to the cause and is making the people against gay marriage dig in.

No doubt Obama doesn't mind... and even advances the controversy because it's a distraction for what a miserable failure he's been as a president. Every minute of newscast consumed with Chicken Man's opinion about gay marriage is another minute not discussing unemployment and the deficit.

Will these Hail Mary plays of a new, divisive, social distraction every week work for him? I guess time will tell.

Have a great night guys. EaT mOr Chiknz

Vast liberalization? Ben, you're gettin' as goofy as yogi....

The commies are coming, the commies are coming!!!!!

"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." - George Washington.

No, brrrrk, they're already here.

You have a communist sitting in the White House. You ask: He's a communist? Yes, he was raised in the communist profile. His maternal family, his tutor Frank Marshal Davis and all of his communist friends.

He's also a Muslim. You ask: He's a Muslim? Yes, he was raised as a Muslim and as is known, you can never leave the Islam faith. Ever know of anyone that has that wasn't killed?

You also have communist in Congress today. You ask: Do we" Yes, if not, why was Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama allowed to usurp that office?

By: slacker on 7/25/12 at 5:39

yogi.. you dolt.. he was joking about the red scare era.
Take your lithium, and watch The Price Is Right.

By: yogiman on 7/25/12 at 6:18

Sorry, slacker,

He may have been joking but facts are facts. If you buy all of Obama's BS I'm afraid you're going to be surprised in just a few weeks.

I won't laugh at you for your ignorance, but I'm not going to cry for your situation either.

By: yogiman on 7/25/12 at 7:10

slacker,

To give you an idea on what to expect with Barry in Power, I see where 3 young women (a punk group) in Russia was put in jail in February for singing a song about Putin he didn't like. And they don't know when of if they'll be released.

You may be welcome to the club pretty soon.

Nice to see I'm so popular on CP. You people have no life if all you can think to talk about is little old me.

People talk about the plague and other disturbing things. That does not make them popular subjects.

BTW I would not talk about people having a life, if I spent all of my time telling people what is wrong with theirs. However sid sticks her nose in others business so she won’t have to deal with her pitiful existence.

BTW, you do tell everyone what is wrong with their life. And I'm not a counselor so I don't tell people what to do. But if someone asks, then they should be prepared to listen.

I just got back from ChickFilA and it's the best food in town. Smyrna has a great group of people working there.

Ben, the Mayor of Boston (I think) is saying no ChickFilA in his town. Well, I say, no gay business in Nashville (not really). But what if a mayor said we don't want gay business. OMG; the moon would fall. Of course we all support all kinds of business. When I go to a shop in East Nashville, Antioch or downtown, I don't ask them "now is your owner gay"? I just shop there.

So if a gay person says I'm gonna put up a sign that says "shop owned by someone who supports gay marriage", and if I like the shop and the product and the service, I'll still shop there.

I'm so sick of the libs and their narrow minds. Marriage between a man and a woman is traditional marriage. EVEN THE OH GREAT LEADER OBAMA SAID S O -- until he felt he was losing votes. So what's worse? Saying what you honestly believe in? Or just saying it because it might garner you more votes? At least the owner of ChickFilA is honest and not a pandering politician like Obama.

OK, Yogi, signing off. I've had about as much fun as one person deserves to have today. These people floor me with laughter. When they are talking about me, at least they are leaving some other person alone. And to think, they have nothing to think about but me.

Rasp. I didn't quite understand your post about the $75,000. Guess I'm just tired. Had a job interview for job number 86; I'm working on having 99 jobs before I retire. It's been my life goal to be in the guiness book of records for having the most jobs in a 100 year period.

And my car is up to 190,000; going for 1/2 million and if the car is still being nice, I'll keep it for another 500,000. It runs like a top. 2002! Good year for -- well I won't say what it is. I'm sure that a couple of people on here know so much about me that they know the make, model and color of my car. Gee! I wish they'd get a life!
