Up for Debate: Ramsey on taxing savings

Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:45pm

Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey told reporters Tuesday he'd back the governor's plan to cut the "grocery tax" but would rather cut a bigger slice out of the tax retirement savings. Ramsey called it “blatantly unfair” that the state taxes people who save for retirement. What are your thoughts on the taxes, the proposed plans to cut them and Ramsey's statement?

Bud: I'm always amazed by how people can say, "What has he accomplished?"
As if running, nominated, and winning the Presidency isn't enough!
If only Obama Care gets thru, that's enough.
And he got us out of Iraq and may close GitMo.
He HAS to keep Afghanistan running to apease the hawks and warmongers who are hell bent on having the military budget hit $1. trillion a year.
Need a war or two to justify that kind of money.
Obama attended Columbia and Harvard. Graduated, too. Was a Jr. Senator from IL. Stood up to Bush & Cheney's bullshit war in Iraq.
You try getting into MTSU, TSU, or UT. Then we can talk.

gdiafante,

Do you remember when Obama raised the question about John McCain's eligibility when he raised the question and initiated the issue. Remember the hearing the Senate had on the issue? Remember why they accepted McCain, and Obama signed that bill in acceptance?

And do you remember he refused to be questioned himself even though he questioned McCain?

I suggest you check out www.fellowshipofminds.wordspress.com/2011/04/25/by-u-s-senates-definition-obama-is-not-a-natural-bornm-citizen/

Lemme know what you think.

All of the sudden Yogi thinks he's Chris Farley.....

The rich GOP have been trying for years to do away with the inheritance tax. Well, they now have the power to do it. Ramsey and his like are offering a little to the GOP uneducated people of TN. They think if I give you a lttle, you will not cause an alarm when Haslam and others are not having to pay taxes on their sizable wealth. Tennesseans have caused this downfall by voting for anyone with a R after their name. If you think that TN will not need the inheritance tax, wait a few years when all of your taxes on everything will be raised to take care of the inheritance tax that we no longer can depend on. Wake up TN before it is too late. I afraid with Haslam, Beth and Ramsey in charge, it is already too late.

By: brrrrk on 11/28/12 at 11:46

pswindle,

I wouldn't worry too much, Tennessee will just take more from the Federal government to make up for the shortfall.....

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 11:54

How much of an education do you need, dargent7?

Rubio's parents were Cuban citizens when he was born. I understand he was about 4 years old before they became citizens.

So my question has been, from the beginning, why has "congress" not raised the question since his name was first mentioned?

Do we have the "new" USA now?

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 11:59

I agree, gdiafante, the Constitution doesn't define the natural born status. I've stated from the beginning there was a few boo boos our founders made and using that requirement for that office without stipulating the requirements was a boo boo. But did you see that 4/25/2011 law Congress passed. You know, the one Barry initiated and signed?

So then my question is: If he pushed that law through Congress, why in the hell did he put his name in the hat?

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 12:08

Okay, dargent7, "let's talk". I went to MTSU for 2 years. And believe it or not, I learned 'edacaution'.

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 12:32

Ya wanna see Barry's original Kenyan birth certificate? I don't know if it's a fake or not but it looks like a normal certificate.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 12:42

I don't know if it's a fake or not ...

Since when has that stopped you?

Again, yogi, tell me what 1408 says...How hard is that? Really? Just do it.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 12:47

By the way, it's false (as usual)

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/kenyacert.asp

This is what I'm talking about. You're computer ability seems limited to crazy conspiracy theories. It's amazing how you suddenly "forget" how to use a computer when asked to back up your claims.

Do you even understand how completely ridiculous you look?

By: bfra on 11/28/12 at 12:49

yogi is such a big bad brag, with his whittled gun & aluminum foil hat, he should print that & march right up to the WH & throw Obama out.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/28/12 at 12:52

g, he thinks snopes is an Obama run mis-information site.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/28/12 at 12:52

An MTSU dropout - lol! Wow. That's something to brag about.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/28/12 at 12:57

Marco Rubio was born is Miami, Florida. He is, therefore, a natural born citizen of the United States. Per the Constitution, the citizenship status of his parents (or grandparents or anyone but himself) is irrelevant.

Let’s look at U.S. political history for more proof. Were there other instances of a presidential or vice presidential nominee with a foreign-born parent? You betcha!

The first presidential nominee of the Republican Party, in 1856, was John Charles Fremont. He was born in Georgia to an American mother and a French father. Jean Charles Fremon was born a French citizen, near Lyon, France. He was not a U.S. citizen at the time of his son’s birth and never did become a citizen. Abraham Lincoln campaigned for Fremont. All the founders of the Republican Party campaigned for Fremont. One would be hard-pressed to find any suggestion at the time that Fremont’s birth made him ineligible for the presidency.

The seventh vice presidential nominee of the Republican Party, Chester Arthur, was born in Vermont to an American mother and a foreign-born father. William Arthur was born a British citizen – in County Antrim, Ireland – who did not become a U.S. citizen until his son was fourteen years old.

John Fremont, George Meade, Chester Arthur, John McCain, Marco Rubio – all eligible for the presidency. Republicans should not allow themselves to be distracted away from contesting the 2012 presidential campaign on the real issues.

Bush got us out of Iraq D'arge. That was all worked out before Obama took his seat in the Oval office.

By: BenDover on 11/28/12 at 1:02

It's also important to note that we pulled out after the country was largely stabilized and not when Obama and the ISG wanted to abandon it to certain chaos and civil war years earlier.

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 1:14

As I've admitted at the beginning, I'm not "bright" on this machine. But let me re-mention to you Obama said Hawaii would not allow him to have a copy of his birth certificate until after he court marshaled Col Terry Lakin and the issue was brought up front. So since he's shown that obvious fake under pressure, why does Hawaii still not officially offer it? Why doesn't the hospital he claims as his birthplace (which didn't have the name he mentioned in 1961) display his letter for free advertisement? Why doesn't a doctor so willingly accept the free publicity? Don't they exist?

Take it anyway you wish, but I strongly advise you to listen to Lt. Gen Boykin on marxism, and he ain't no amateur. It's only 6 minutes.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 1:24

That has nothing to do with the law, yogi. Again, what does the law say? Why can't you do something as simple as this? Is even that over your head?

Iraq was an unecessary cluster**** that has cost us trillions of dollars and countless lives. To defend such idiocy is laughable.

By: bfra on 11/28/12 at 1:34

Well now I think Ben has aced even yogi on the BS!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/28/12 at 1:38

Ben, I know that red is your color, but please take off the Bush cheerleading outfit. That's so yesterday.

By: BenDover on 11/28/12 at 1:49

Your thinking is very anachronistic guys. It would have been irresponsible not to invade Iraq given the intel at the time. You guys can hoot and holler like a yogi about 'LIES' but nothing has ever shown those claims to be any more than posturing by political opponents who were hoping to gain by Monday morning Quarterbacking Bush's, and in most cases, their own decisions to finally deal with this tyrant.

Now after you are there, the reason for invading is moot; and the question becomes, "do we finish the job or abandon it to total chaos?". Thankfully, against the stated wishes and judgement of our current Commander in Chief, Obama, we finished the job and avoided another Vietnam.

These are the facts. You guys flailing away like a wind-sock in a hurricane based on your contempt for Bush is not where the logic is in the matter.

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 1:54

Question, children. Especially you Obama admirers.

To refresh your memories, the current governor of Hawaii was a long time old friend of Barry's grandparents.

After all of the hullabaloo he said he would provide Barry's birth certificate when he went in office.

How long has he been in office now? As the governor of that state going to the Health Department to produce that certificate, why couldn't he "show it to the public"?

By his admission, he couldn't find it. If that certificate shown from Kenya proves to be his from his footprint, is it a fake? Have you ever read, or heard, of a fake finger, or foot print before? I haven't.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 1:55

The intel was manufactured, Ben. It was obvious then, it's obvious now. But if you sleep better at night telling yourself the crap you post, more power to you.

You might think of using Ambien instead, though.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 2:00

Yogi can't even follow a simple directive such as read the law. Instead he has to post every inane conspiracy theory known to man. I can only think that the reason he refuses to address the law is because he will be proven incorrect.

It is sort of funny how he evades the subject...like a child...if you ignore it long enough, it will go away...lol

By: BenDover on 11/28/12 at 2:01

"The intel was manufactured, Ben."

Are you saying that Bush and Cheney entered into a conspiracy to manufacture intelligence that lead us to war with Iraq?

That's as moronic as a yogi calling Obama 'usurper' all the time.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 2:04

I'm saying that there was a rush to war, they cherry-picked the intel, Ben. You're as blind as yogi.

By: gdiafante on 11/28/12 at 2:07

It's astounding that a decade later there are some imbeciles who are still trying to justify and defend the war. No wonder you and your kind are going the way of the Dodo.

I'd just wish you'd do everyone a favor and go faster.

By: bfra on 11/28/12 at 2:13

gdiafante - Ditto on your last 2 comments.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/28/12 at 2:19

g, I thought they were the dodos going the way of the dinosaur?

By: bfra on 11/28/12 at 2:22

I'm with g., they are not going fast enough.

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 3:05

You keep referring to US Code 1408, gdiafante.

What chapter are your referring to? Or are you just BSing? I'm not going to read the whole damn Code like you claim to have.

I've got other things to do. I wish my job would have let me play on a computer before I retired.

By: BenDover on 11/28/12 at 3:05

Cherry picked? Are you saying that Bush and Cheney hid intelligence from congress that disputed the case for taking out Saddam?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/28/12 at 3:19

yogi, what a crybaby comeback! For all the time you spend copying and pasting misinformation, you refuse to take the time to read the actual code???? Wow. I guess you just don't have the brain power for it.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/28/12 at 3:19

Ben sez: "Bush was an excellent president."

Loner don't you remember Ben saying it was Bush that gave cause for Obama to rise to power.

It's generally a toss up which action is better: stick your finger in a light socket or address any of yogi's posts...

No contest the light socket.

By: bfra on 11/28/12 at 3:31

Ben is either just wanting attention or he really is dumb enough to believe what he is posting.

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 3:33

Well, B2,

Constitutionally I believe I have more brain power than you will ever have in your lifetime, if you have any at all.

It is known Barack Obama's nickname was Barry as a child. When Lolo Soetoro adopted him, he gave him the name Barry Soetoro so he could go to school under Indonesian laws.

So, considering your lack of intelligence, when did Barry Soetoro change his name back to Barack Obama? Where is it on records?

Sorry, I've got more to do than sit down and read that whole damn Code if I'm not told what section I'm looking for.

You seem to have more free time than I, how about you telling me.

I said it was the inaccurate history of Bush that brought about Obama and allowed him to win a second term Nemo.

Not Bush but the general perception of him.

I cannot believe that some posters are still trying to reason with Yogi....he enjoys coming in here every day with the same old discredited birther rant.

What sort of an individual would do that on a daily basis, for an extended period? Could it be a sadist?

A sadist derives pleasure, from the suffering of others, it has nothing to do with reasonable arguments....it's about mental cruelty.

Yogi is a sadistic fool...or a foolish sadist....take your pick. And this guy is a former corrections officer?

If we ignore him, he gets less pleasure out of the deal....that's about all that we can do....let's limit his intake of ya-yas....ignore the SOB.

On the contrary, Ben you not seeing this give you a yogi rating.

By: BenDover on 11/28/12 at 3:48

There's not one shred of evidence that this was so Nemo.

By: yogiman on 11/28/12 at 3:50

B2.

Let's assume Barack Obama was a natural born citizen and legally eligible to hold that office at his birth. Then let's look into his autobiography showing where he was adopted by his stepfather and entered into the citizenship of Indonesia.

First, did he ever repatriate to his American citizenship? If so, when? Once you give up your natural born citizenship status you don't automatically get it back if you repatriate. At the best, he could only be a naturalized citizen.

Why do you think he's so secretive on his citizenship? Could it possibly be because he's a fake? Could it possibly be because he's still an Indonesian? Could it possibly be because his school records show him as a foreign student?

Is he an American or an Indonesian? I don't know, do you? And really, has he ever been an American citizen?

Look into the laws of 1961. If he was born in Kenya as Kenya claims, his mother could not pass her American citizenship down to him, thus he could not be born as a dual-citizen. He was born as a British subject.
