Since when is funding the stimulus with the TARP repayments and maintaining status quo otherwise 'austerity' gd?

You're saying that if we hadn't expanded government spending such that we suffered $1,000,000,000,000+ a year deficits over the old trend-line then it would have been austerity?

You budget like my ex-wife, gd.

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 10:21

Republicans created the big-deficit spending budget with Reagan, suddenly, when it's unsustainable, it's the Dems fault...lol

Cheney recently stated that McCain should'n't have picked Palin for VP...ya think? lol

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 10:23

Ben, I know you're not stupid so stop acting like it. Notice the And, which indicated a secondary point...because you're basically stating that austerity should be the policy.

By: Ummm... on 7/31/12 at 10:26

Mike, I think you're right about Romney's taxes, and that's why I intend to bring the subject up as often as possible. Obama should be a dog with a bone on this one- there is no plausible defense for hiding something that every serious presidential candidate discloses. It's his Achilles heel- and the Teapublicans know it.

By: dargent7 on 7/31/12 at 10:28

Thurston Howell III and Lovey are aristocrats. They never have answered to anybody, or will ever answer to the "little people".
To quote another aristo (although dead), "I don't pay taxes....that's for the little people."
Leona Hemsley.
Romney cannot go a week and not say something belittling, demoralizing, and arrogant.
To attend the Games in London, and say, "the city isn't ready", when all he had for experience was a Mormon based city in the middle of nowhere, is frightening.
He's got only one thing going for him: looks. Add in an attractive wife.
But, only just appearances.
The lights are on, but nobody's home.

Good morning, Nashville!

UFD Question of the Day: "What do you think about Mitt Romney's recent statements regarding Israel that angered Palestinian leaders?"

Mormons consider themselves to be the equivalent of one of the Lost Tribes of Israel....The early Mormons referred to non-Mormons as "Gentiles". True, all Christianity is heretical Judaism practiced by Gentiles, but the Latter Day Saints have taken Jew-Worship to a whole new level.

Willard Romney has visited the Jewish State in Palestine at least eleven times and he is an old business acquaintance of Bibi Netanyahu, Israel's current Prime Minister. Romney is sucking up to his Jewish overlords by denigrating the Arabs of Palestine and Islam in general.

Romney is being supported by Jewish mega-milli0onaires whose loyalty and passion is devoted the Jewish State and Zionism. If AIPAC directs the Israel Lobby's cash donors to support the Republican candidate for POTUS, this will represent a sea-change in US politics.....American Jews are primarily liberal Democrats....except where Israel is concerned....these putative "liberals" are war-hawks for Zionism....they are Jewish holy warriors and these zealots are dragging the US into perpetual Holy War, to make the world safe for apartheid, nuclear-armed, Zionism in Palestine.

I suspect that PM Netanyahu will attack the Iranians in September-October...this will suck the US into another Holy War at Israel's behest....since nearly every member of Congress is on the take with the Israel lobby, Obama will be forced to come to the aid of the scofflaw Jewish State.

Make no mistake, the War Super Lobby....Defense, Israel & Energy - are in full and absolute control of the US federal government....the Defense lobby is international in nature and so is the Energy Lobby...and the Israel Lobby's allegiance and loyalty is to a state outside our union of American states.

Our experiment in representative democracy has been effectively hijacked by foreign interests....anyone who complains is labelled as a "Jew-Hater"....IMO, the American Founders would be extremely disappointed with this current arrangement.

By: BenDover on 7/31/12 at 10:30

No I didn't... I agreed with the stimulus and said that the TARP repayments should have paid for it. Then I said we should have maintained the status quo on government spending instead of incurring an additional $4 Trillion in debt over the trendline.

That's not austerity. That's my son as a teenager crying like a stuck pig when I refuse to upgrade his Mustang to a new Corvette.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/31/12 at 10:30

As the troll would say Rasputin posted twice I wonder what he was drinking or smokeing last night. Sure wish I had some. LOL

By: BenDover on 7/31/12 at 10:32

I'd hoped this one would draw you out, Loner. How are you old friend?

Still up at the lake bagging hippie chicks in the back of the DJ?

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 10:33

So you haven't proposed spending cuts along with cuts in public pensions/benefits?

By: Ummm... on 7/31/12 at 10:34

Welcome back, Loner.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/31/12 at 10:35

The reason Romney is not showing his tax returns and thus making it a big deal of it? Is that would be far worst if he did.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/31/12 at 10:37

Hello Loner!! Are near a phone?.

By: Loner on 7/31/12 at 10:46

Thanks, Ben, Nemo and Ummm...I drove home yesterday afternoon-evening, after three glorious weeks of responsible hedonism in the bush. I enjoyed my "retreat" immensely...living large, so to speak.

My oldest daughter is getting married on Saturday, so I had to cut and trim my agenda a bit....I'll be heading back for a Commander Cody concert in Sherman, NY, later in August....at least that's the plan.

The DJ5-L ran perfectly...thanks to Jake's Automotive in Albion, NY....the "Chick Magnet" seems to get more attractive with every passing year....it is the "Jeep To Keep".

My cell is still in the Jeep, Captain....I came in late and tired...just now waking up.

By: BenDover on 7/31/12 at 10:48

Cut to where it has over-expanded GD ... but no cuts over were we were... particularly in a recession. I certainly think Obamacare should be rolled back as my point is that it should never have been passed in the first place.

And no cuts to public pensions. I think they should start new people out now under a new more realistic and sustainable system; but we should grandfather the people have made long-term life choices based on their pension agreements. You can't change the rules on them in the middle of the game.

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 10:52

Alright, my mistake. I thought you had proposed expanding the cuts over where we were. My bad.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/31/12 at 10:56

Then we will talk later Loner. Glade your are back.

By: yogiman on 7/31/12 at 10:57

Do you really want to know why Obama want's Romney to show his tax records, BenDover? Do you know why he will not release his college papers? The answer is simple, he's in that office illegally and knows it.

I really don't worry about you people so willing to accept him as YOUR leader. I do sympathize with your children and grandchildren of the future because once Obama pulls his scam through, the USA will become null and void... gone. No more future.

By: budlight on 7/31/12 at 10:57

Romney is only required to show 2 years - and he did that. I listened to a tax advisor on the radio saturday. She said that Romney has not broken the law. He has done what any person does -- he has used his accountant/adviser to go through and save him money on his taxes -- within the law -- just like everyone who files an income tax return does.

When I file taxes, I save every receipt and use everything I can to try and get as much money back as I can. I want to pay as "little" tax as I can get by with. So does every single tax payer in the entire country (and the entire world). Romney has done nothing wrong. Having money in multiple bank accounts throughout the world is not illegal -- or else how would someone get to make the deposits to start with?

I'm sure Obama tries to pay as little as he can. No one says to their tax accountant "hey, would you do my taxes and get me into the highest tax bracket that you can get me so I can pay the most tax as I can pay". Who says that?

I would be Ummm, nemo, loner, d7, g, bfra and every single left wing nutcake on this site tries to get the lowest taxes they can pay. If you are honest (which i SERIOUSLY doubt), you'll say "yep, I try to get my taxes lowered by any means legal" and the optimal word is "legal".

There is no way that even Obama would knowingly break the law to pay less taxes. And when I was audited, I had every single piece of paper and had it all in a manageable order so the IRS auditor did not have to hardly do any work. They asked me a question. I answered it with documentation. Pure and simple.

I'm sure that Romney and Obama both are within the law on filing their taxes OR they could have their CPA take the fall.

So now, if Obama would just give up his real birth certificate. And oh yeah, he can now be mad at Virginia because his first relative from Africa was the first recorded slave in Virginia even before Virginia passed a law allowing slavery.

I dare say this recent geneology research will ruffle some of your proverbial feathers. Obama's mother's white bloodline goes back to the Bunch (Punch) family. I know the Bunch's from Virginia. They are some fine people. Guess I'll have to change my opinion about Obama - well at least my opinion about his race. But not his politics.

He looks so old and gray. Another 4 years and he'll have to use a walker if he's not careful. He's aging fast.. That job sure takes it's toll on handsome young men, doesn't it?

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 10:58

Maybe I was thinking of slacker...someone has touted austerity as the way to go...meh...I'm going for a run. Later.

By: Loner on 7/31/12 at 11:02

Mike Burch's 9:37 post is accurate and well-said, in my opinion. Romney and the Republicans would gladly sell the controlling interest of Us foreign policy to the Israel Lobby....the Democrats have been doing it for years, and now the Republicans want that well-paying job...the GOP traitors to America are stealing the Democrat's Kosher lunch.

A stinking cloud rises from a bridge in Antioch.

By: Loner on 7/31/12 at 11:08

The only way to save the US Credit Rating is by way of genuine austerity....raising taxes and cutting governmental services simultaneously.....this is never going to happen, of course...no politician has the caljones to propose this....people would never accept the sacrifices needed.....we are slowly going down the tubes....our credit rating is in a very fragile position right now.....we are trying to provide both guns AND butter....we need to choose one or the other.

By: yogiman on 7/31/12 at 11:19

Mike,

You comment about Mitt Romney showing his payment of taxes beginning in 2009 because he was getting into politics.

Could "getting int politics" be the same reason Barack Obama changed his birth place from Kenya to Hawaii in 2007 after 17 years?

How about both of them showing their papers? Why is Barry exempt from showing his; like he was when the Senate questioned John McCain on his place of birth and Obama refused to be questioned.

By: BenDover on 7/31/12 at 11:30

I wouldn't mind reverting to the old Clinton rates but I don't think the timing is good during a recession.

What I think would be a huge disaster is to make the tax system even more progressive. We already suffer the tax system where a minority of people pay the majority of taxes and that minority we pick is at the liberty to choose whether it earns or not. Going further down that path will simply make our situation worse.

Future History

After the fall of the USA, the Mexican drug lords took over the South West and stopped river traffic up and down the Mississippi River, chocking parts of the South East

Canada took in people from the North East and then expanded it boards farther south into parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and all of the New England states.

Eureka became the capital of a smaller California and Utah started a Moron empire by invading Colorado.

The remaining central state became a on and off again alliance of dirt farm a cattle ranches waiting for the Mormon invasion.

It's perfectly alright with brainedlight if Romney has used Swiss banks, off-shore tax shelters, and any other dodge in the book to avoid paying taxes- even if he is one of the wealthiest people on earth. I mean, after all, it's perfectly legal to be a tax dodging a-hole, so why not? At least he's white- that about sum it up brainedlight?

By: Ummm... on 7/31/12 at 12:21

brainedlight, you can bet your a$$ that Romney would be releasing 10 years of tax returns if he thought he wouldn't be roundly condemned for what they show. And by the way- he isn't required to release any, no matter what misinformation you've gotten from Faux News.

By: yogiman on 7/31/12 at 12:29

budlight,

They're making claims on Obama's ancestors by presuming Barack Hussein Obama is [deceased] his father. It's obvious that "birth certificate" he's shown is a fake.

I'd say compare him with Frank Marshal Davis' picture. And the fact Davis took "pictures" of Obama's mother stripped to the bone, and history being known as it occurred back then, I'd bet Frank Marshal Davis is his father. A simple DNA test would show it but it is never mentioned.

So why can the Ancestors club make such a claim on his ancestor?

By: Ummm... on 7/31/12 at 12:34

Little Bennie says: "What I think would be a huge disaster is to make the tax system even more progressive. We already suffer the tax system where a minority of people pay the majority of taxes and that minority we pick is at the liberty to choose whether it earns or not. Going further down that path will simply make our situation worse."

Do I need to remind you again about the 90% brackets under Republican Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950's, Bennie? Were the 1950's a "huge disaster?" Your idiotic flat tax argument holds no water- you're just shilling for your oligarchic masters, as per usual.

By: yogiman on 7/31/12 at 12:43

Ummm,

You keep condemning Mitt Romney for spreading his wealth over different nations.

Let me ask you a stupid question: If you was a multimillionaire, would you put all of your money only in banks in the USA?

What would you do then, if the nation collapsed and you go bankrupt?

Wouldn't it make more sense to spread you wealth worldwide?

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 12:56

Is there any length to which yogi would not defend tax evasion? lol

It's estimated that the world's wealthy stash about $21 trillion in tax-evasive accounts worldwide...yet they're the ones on bended knee to Congress wanting a hand out...without these tax breaks, we can't create jobs....

Well...you've had the tax cuts since, what, 2003? You show me the jobs, we'll show you the money.

In America we don't vote for the candidate we want...we vote for the other guy, against the one we don't want. What a screwed up dynamic.

By: gdiafante on 7/31/12 at 1:09

If you was a multimillionaire, would you put all of your money only in banks in the USA?

What would you do then, if the nation collapsed and you go bankrupt?

Wouldn't it make more sense to spread you wealth worldwide?

So you also think Supply-Side economics is a failure. See, we do agree on something.

By: Kosh III on 7/31/12 at 1:10

The "trigger" was not candidate Obama but the collapse of Bear Stearns in February when Clinton was the presumptive candidate.

After the Bush recession got to the point where Wall Street needed huge welfare checks in Sept, BUSH gave them their welfare and the Federal Reserve quietly gave banks including foreign banks over 2 Billion in interest-free loans. The banks then used this free money to buy Treasury notes which pays them a nice profit.

Special(and easy) rights for the plutocrats, harshness and misery for the rest of us.

By: yogiman on 7/31/12 at 1:10

So you're saying you didn't want Obama, dargent7? You didn't want him, you just didn't want John McCain?

Yet you've been ranting and raving in his behalf since he went in office. That's funny.

By: Loner on 7/31/12 at 1:11

Willard Romney is Darth Evader? Religion is his force within...and he swears fealty to an evil emperor..

With Darth Vader, it was "The force" and his alliance with the wicked emperor....with Willard, his religion is Ultra-heretical Judaism and his liege lord is the Prime minister of the Jewish State in Palestine. Same schtick...only for real...not science fiction.

Darth Evader has evaded the American military draft during wartime and he has evaded his tax obligations as well....and he has evaded answering legitimate and relative questions in his run for the Presidency....and this is the best that the republican Party can offer the American voter.?

Pitiful.

Teapublicans: Name another President going back to let's say, George Washington, that was demanded to show his "papers".
Did anyone ask Calvin Coolidge to see his B.C? How about Howard Taft?
How about LBJ's or Nixon's college transcripts? Reagan's B.C.?
You people don't get it.
Obama KNOWS he's black. Maybe half white genetically, but lives and learns as a black man.
He doesn't want the white man's discrimination. He's been there, done that.
98% of all Birther's/ Tea Partiers/ Townies, are white.
Not before, during, or after being elected a US President. Legally.

GD, I went to the ABC link that you gave us...I tried to comment...I was logged in but nothing appeared on their board....ABC is Zionist-friendly, of course...all the US major media are pro-Israel to the max....Helen Thomas spoke the truth.

Here is the post that did not go through on the ABC site....it may appear there later...who knows? Here's the text:

Let's face it, Christianity is heretical Judaism practiced by Gentiles...Mormonism is heretical Christianity...Mormons believe that they are the spiritual equivalent of the Lost Tribes of Israel...considering all that, it is no wonder that Willard Romney - an LDS Bishop - is swearing fealty to his liege lord in Israel....with Romney as POTUS and CINC of US forces, the Great Theocratic Wars of the 20th & 21st Centuries will shift into high gear...the American Founders would stand aghast to witness this slide into militant Judeo-Christian theocracy.

It's mass hysteria.

By: Loner on 7/31/12 at 2:01

According to the ABC story, Romney has not taken a single question from a US news agency during his "world tour"...in fact, his top aide told the US news-people to "Kiss my ass!" and to "Shove it!"

Romney. like Dick Nixon, blames the media whenever his flaws are revealed...do we really want another arrogant asshole of that caliber in the White House?

Romney would move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, as the Jews have been clamoring for....this would doom the Palestinians to eternal statelessness and it could touch off yet another Intiffada...or worse.

Romney is a grovelling and fawning ass-licker to the Jews....and he tells the US media to kiss his ass while doing so.....that must be the way the Morons do it....like a chain of lickers & sniffers.....disgusting.
