Up for Debate: Same-sex arguments

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1:05am

What is your reaction to the first of arguments in the U.S. Supreme Court regarding same-sex marriages? Considering each justice, what do you think will be the outcome?

Marriage has been defined as man and woman living together under contract for centuries. The inferior Supreme Court will probably re-write the dictionary and find two people of the same sex (homosexuals) living together under contract as a marriage.

Homosexuals may live together under contract but it will not be equal to the marriage between man and woman (heterosexuals).

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 4:11

People should be able to fall in love and marry who ever they want.

By: bfra on 3/27/13 at 4:16

yogi must think he has to keep proving how stupid he is, so he keeps putting stupid comments on the board, so nobody forgets.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 4:22

Accepting homosexual marriage is just like accepting Kenyan born Obama as your president. It ain't right for the USA. Why has he been noted as Kenyan born by so many news casts?

Look at all the announcements at: www.theobamafile.com/_eligibility/whattobelieve.htm/ and tell me why you differ with all of them.

dumba$$, you couldn't even pass a spelling test, let alone a test of intelligence.
Want to try one? Check on google or bing and take a test.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/26/13 at 3:33
I took the test yogi and a made a 100.

By: yogiman on 1/26/13 at 7:30
I feel so humiliated, dumba$$, to get beat by an idiot as ignorant as you.

Your own word says I am smarter than you, yogi.

By: Ask01 on 3/27/13 at 4:30

To be perfectly honest, I am weary of this subject.

Let them marry! I believe people are predisposed to their sexual orientation. Even if they aren't, what business is it of anyone not directly involved?

For those expressing religious opposition, be secure that God will exact his justice. Did I not read somewhere a passage saying, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay sayeth the Lord." For genuine true believers, this should be sufficient.

For others, rest secure in the words of the comedian (no, I don't recall which one) who observed why should heterosexuals be the only ones able to voluntarily enter themselves into lifelong bondage and eternal debt? Plus the spectacle of Gay divorce court should be extraordinarily amusing.

Let's now deal with real problems.

As far as Fifth Avenue from Church to Union I think an addition of an Adams Hat Store, a Krystal an Orange Bar two movie theaters showing second run and B grade movies along with a high quality womens store,Woolworths,McClellans,S.H.Kress anchored by Walgreens, the Arcade and a Popcorn stand would be nice.

Everything that fits the pocketbook and intellectual capacity of this forum are right in place.

Raspy old boy you seem not to know what year or city you are talking about. Just how long have you been away from Nashville? Or is yogi right when he says you are as smart has him.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 4:37

Ask01 bring up good points about God’s ability to take café of God’s business. However his faithful seem to think that God is incapable of doing this.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 4:43

By: Rasputin72 on 3/26/13 at 9:31
Bfra.....I know this is beyond your ability to comprehend but working would mean that I would only enjoy about 50% of the wages. The rest would go to support unworthy people like you. I know the 50% number is over your head but I dont have time to explain it.

Wow Raspy old boy you seem to have been hoodwink. 50% of you earnings go to taxes? I thought you IQ were higher than that. LOL

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 4:46

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 9:52
Ah yes, gdiafante,

Dementia is bad, but ignorance is worse. I hope you learn more facts in your early years.

Now just how someone one with yogi’s brain de-capacity understand what dementia or ignorance means?

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 5:02

I agree with you on dealing with a real problem, Ask01. Our biggest real problem today is usurper Barry Soetoro in the White House and a congress that has let it happen.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 5:12

Mean while back at the funny farm, yogi forgetting he had disguised himself as a pool table, racked his balls.

Wanting a pair for himself, the minor troll says, “Balls”

By: HoundDog on 3/27/13 at 5:22

According to the polls, a majority of the public now supports same sex marriage, but conservatives (who, by definition, resist any change) on the court and elsewhere will take longer to catch up with the rest of society, as usual. Off subject again, it is disappointing that the City Paper moderators will not bar this "yogiman's" loony birther nonsense, as it seems to derail every conversation here. This person appears to be a perfect example of the poorly educated, culturally deviant misanthropes our least scrupulous politicians know how to manipulate all too well.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 5:59

Well, HoundDog,

If you know I'm wrong on my arguments about Barry, how about proving me wrong. No one on this site has given any evidence I'm wrong, they just don't want their man Barry to be exposed and all they have done is disagree.

Maybe you can explain why he mentioned a hospital that didn't exist in 1961 as his birthplace. And maybe you can also explain why his sister named another hospital as the place where he was born.

Just maybe, you should look into evidence on the matter.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 6:05

HoundDog-

The Birther slogan of yogi and Rasputin’s uses of the word of "diversity" is their code word to replace Negro or the more offensive wording. This two are good examples of fringe right- wing nuts. Both have a deep fear, of non white retaliation and of being a minority. Neither can give up the fact that whites are not the controlling factor of life any longer.

By: bfra on 3/27/13 at 6:06

HoundDog - He has been given proof positive of his lies over & over. He doesn't have brains enough to understand & blames everyone else for his stupidity. This has been going on for over 4 1/2 years and most everyone on here doesn't understand why the NCP keeps allowing it. A large portion of posters left the site, because of him.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 6:08

There is no way to prove something that can’t be proven to a person such as yogi, when he can not face the truth. He hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

By: Kosh III on 3/27/13 at 6:31

Let's have the "Biblical" pattern for marriage:

Abraham married his sister Sarah

King David had 7 wives and one husband; Solomon had hundreds of wives and concubines

Jacob had two wives and two concubines

Isaiah married a prostitute who did not give up her job.

----
Equal means equal

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 6:34

I have been given proof, bfra? When? Where? What evidence as proof did you present? Why are you so unwilling to repeat yourself? You seem to love repeating me being wrong, yet you are unwilling to prove yourself right... again. Why?

Just one more time (if there ever was a 1st time), give me your proof.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 6:38

Biblical times are of the past from centuries ago, Kosh III. Would you want to marry your daughter? Perhaps your granddaughter?

By: bfra on 3/27/13 at 6:41

MG yogi how much more stupid can you get? Just your last 2 comments prove you are demented, dumb, stupid, ignorant & have absolutely NO brains.

By: gdiafante on 3/27/13 at 6:41

I've given you proof, many times yogi. You don't read the evidence that is posted. This explains why you drudged up the "government is buying ammo" BS yesterday. That was dispelled months ago. The birther issue was resolved in 2008.

As far as the topic, religion is fracked, so I really wouldn't say that's a reliable source to be basing the marriage argument on. After all, it at one time permitted slavery, incest, genocide and polygamy.

Let them marry. If it pisses off a certain troll, even better.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 6:46

Kosh, the inbreeding as in the Bible and having many wives may have caused the troubles in the Middle-East. Our stupid historian from Smith County is a good example of mental illness.

By: bfra on 3/27/13 at 6:48

gdiafante - Everyone on this board can attest to the proof positive evidence you have presented to yogi for umpteen times! He is too dumb to accept it or doesn't have the brains to comprehend what you have posted. Either way, he has shown that he isn't capable of communicating with sane people & should be banned from ruining every discussion on the board.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 6:55

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 7:38
Biblical times are of the past from centuries ago, Kosh III. Would you want to marry your daughter? Perhaps your granddaughter?

I fine this a curious manner of wording about daughters and granddaughters. Does the speaker, speak from experiences?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/27/13 at 6:57

They need to legalize gay marriage. It's ridiculous that partners cannot be afforded the same rights as other married couples, especially when it comes to end of life decisions and power of attorney.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 7:14

It was illegal for couples of separate races to marry, because it was against God and the law of the land.

By: Jughead on 3/27/13 at 7:19

Balls.

By: i.am.a.taxpayer on 3/27/13 at 7:43

There are many things which are "legal" that not everybody agrees with. If do not want to be in a same-sex marriage, then they should not be in one. Allowing the freedom for people to do something does not force them to do it.

Rules and prohibitions about marriage vary from culture to culture and by period of time (about race, age, etc.), and change will continue to occur.

Within 20 years, same-sex marriage will be accepted to the point that young people will then wonder why all the controversy.

There many additional things that I think should be illegal, including bigotry and stupidity.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/27/13 at 7:47

Well put, taxpayer.

By: Rocket99 on 3/27/13 at 7:55

Just always amazes me how some people use this forum as a way to bash the same people over the same stuff regardless of the topic.

You can't really fix stupid and there are at least two people I see on here repeatedly who fall into that category.

I woudls say they are of the mindset that if for whatever reason they thought the wall was red and it obviously is green, they would stand right in front of the green wall talking about how red it is.

By: BigPapa on 3/27/13 at 8:03

Well these responses are predicable.

A more open and free society is a good thing. If this passes most of the knuckledraggers lives wont be affected one tiny bit. Maybe they'll realize what a colossal waste of time their worrying has been.
Of course you'll have the ever present hucksters looking to make cash off of this "out rage". They'll milk this for another 50 years.

By: Rasputin72 on 3/27/13 at 8:06

NEMO.....Diversity is much more than "negroes" it is a clash of culture a clash of thought
process a clash of values. That is why I use the word diversity in its true context.

An example is Yogi versus you.

Now I realize that I have no patience with underclass tripe like yourself so I will just allow the words "self-employment tax" on a million dollar a year income. Then add that to the top rate of income at 39.6% and assume that the only deductions are property taxes.

By the way I give you credit for recognizing fifth avenue in pictures during the civil rights movement.

By the way, I could care less if you or your offspring(god forbid) marry a bowl of chili.

By: budlight on 3/27/13 at 8:07

: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 5:11
People should be able to fall in love and marry who ever they want.

That would be "whomever" and soon it will also be "whatever".

Marriage between a man and a woman is for procreation - to create a family. Two men or two women cannot naturally create a child. I agree with Obama on this one - marriage is between a man and a woman.

But who knows? He will probably change that statement if it gets him money or votes.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 8:07

With your intelligence, you're only 'speaking' for yourself, bfra.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 8:17

Sorry, gdiafante,

But there is no way you could have given me evidence of his eligibility when he refuses to give the evidence on himself.

As I have posted before, even if he was a natural born citizen he lost that status when he was adopted as an Indonesian citizen.

But there is too much evidence he was born in Kenya. Why did his grandmother say she was in the room with his mother when he was born and why did he advertise he was born in Kenya for 16 years?

Would you mind repeating the "evidence" you supposedly gave me before... one more time? Thanks, I'll make sure I understand what you're trying to say this time.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 8:20

bfra,

The only "evidence" I have been given is "he was elected". You obviously don't know what Constitutional requirements means.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/27/13 at 8:23

bud, following the logic that marriage is for procreation - does that mean that people in their 50's shouldn't marry? Or if woman cannot bear children she can't get married?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/27/13 at 8:24

What harm could be caused by allowing gay marriage? What's the worst thing that could happen?

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 8:27

One more point: None of you want to look at the facts on the issue because you don't want to be wrong. If you know the reasons, please tell me why so many newspapers had articles of his being born in Kenya. And why did the Kenyan officials describe Obama as Kenyan?

If you're interested, check their transcript of April 14, 2010.

By: Rocket99 on 3/27/13 at 8:37

Blanketnazi2,

I'm guessing you are not against same sex marriage. The items below are just to put out a lot of what I hear.

Some for some reason are afraid they will have to divorce and marry someone gay. Not sure how they came up with that.

Some say it's against the Bible. Those people really need to read the whole bible, not just one line in one book. And also, this country was founded on religous fredom and fredom from religon. There is more than one religon present in this country.

Some say it will cause their marriage to fail. I'm sorry but, if two men or two women get married and your marriage fails, it's not their fault. You have other problems.

Some say it's for continuing the human race. Well, it's obvious that you don't have to be married to do that. Fewer people are getting married and the population s still rising.

Some claim it's unnatural. Homosexuality exists in nature in other species. It's not unique to humans. Also, it is not a choice or a mental condition.

Personally, I'll be glad when it is legal and everyone has true equal rights.

By: gdiafante on 3/27/13 at 8:37

Would you mind repeating the "evidence" you supposedly gave me before... one more time? Thanks, I'll make sure I understand what you're trying to say this time.

Actually, I would mind. I've put it here on this forum at least three times, which can be confirmed by more than one poster (which bfra actually alluded to earlier). When presented with facts, you ignore them, so why should I waste more of my time? The information is out there.

Go find it yourself, boy.

By: Jughead on 3/27/13 at 8:37

This is not about "equality", this is about forcing people who do not believe gaydom is moral to acknowledge that it is. SIck,disgusting, liberal nazi tactics.

There is no discrimination against gaywads. Only against Christians and white people.

By: Rocket99 on 3/27/13 at 8:38

yogi, just let it go. Today's discussion has nothing to do with where our President was or was not born.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/27/13 at 8:40

Nice post, Rocket. 8~)

Polls show that the majority of voters now agree with gay marriage. Our laws should reflect the viewpoints of our society.

By: Rocket99 on 3/27/13 at 8:40

Jughead,

I'd venture to guess you are also against mixed race marriage and for slavery.

And by the way, it IS about true equality, not what narrow minded people view as equality.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/27/13 at 8:43

My biggest concern when it comes to gay marriage revolves around end of life decisions and power of attorney. As it stands now, a gay person's partner would not be able to have power of attorney if they were in an accident or suffering a fatal illness - the power of attorney would go to a relative, even if the person has been estranged from their family for years.

By: yogiman on 3/27/13 at 8:47

gdiafante,

How can you have given me evidence when Obama has refused to give any evidence on himself? Where did you find yours?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/13 at 8:48

Well at less Raspy is honest about being a raciest. However if you think that I am in yogi, sub-level of evolution, you are certainly wrong there old boy. Time again yogi has said that you are as smart ahs he. LOL
