Up for Debate: Sandusky's fate heads to jury

Friday, June 22, 2012 at 12:32am

With the conclusion of this trial now in the hands of jurors, what are your reactions to it thus far and do you believe there's any way he could avoid convictions out of the now 48 counts he faces? Finally, how damning is it to learn that one of his adoptive sons was also prepared to testify as an alleged victim of Sandusky's?

bfra, yogi only threatens Nemo. Nemo will put that Spock-Vulcan sleeper hold.. on his old arse.

I guess I'm a few days older than you, slacker. I was referring to the time in my early time of life. You probably hadn't even been thought of by your parents then.

I understand (really, I do) many children of today are born to unwed mothers. I'd say most of them are for the welfare check they are "earning" their mothers, a few are from a rape or "mistake".

And in my earlier days, those women were called whores. So what are they called today... momma?

Question: How many babies born in the USA today are raised not even knowing who their father is? Since [back in the old days], they received their father's name as their family name, what is their family name today; their mother's? I would presume that.

Just wondering, govskeptic,

I understand the Sandusky's adopted sever children. Were they all boys? If they were, did that happen with all of those boys?

And for all of those years, his wife didn't know what was going on?

By: yogiman on 6/22/12 at 11:02

Really, bfra,

I'm a calm and peaceful man. At least while I'm asleep. I just react normally when people like you offend me physically.

Mentally is no problem. I just consider the source and ignore it, knowing you haven't been through life like I have and expose your ignorance of the early days in my lifetime constantly.

yogi - With your pea brain, explain how anyone on this board can offend you physically?

By: bfra on 6/22/12 at 11:35

yogi must put on his hard hat and face guard, before turning on his computer!:-)))))

By: yogiman on 6/22/12 at 11:49

I hope it's because of their child sized brain, bfra. It could be regretted if they did.

By: bfra on 6/22/12 at 12:00

yogi - No answer, uh?

By: BigPapa on 6/22/12 at 12:12

Sandusky wasn't abusing college male linebackers!
He was abusing small children that were part of his foundation that benefited underprivileged kids.. And yes, very very very few cases of sexual abuse, especially male on male sexual abuse, are reported due to the embarrassment factor. Also Sandusky was a popular figure.. its all very common behavior for sexual predators.

By: jvh2b on 6/22/12 at 12:35

I don't think I've ever agreed w/ BigPapa before...but after this:

"Pedophiles are the worst.. seriously they need to save us the coin and put a bullet in his head."

Exactly. Couldn't agree more.

Thanks for the kind words, Rasputin72. I would have responded earlier, but I stepped out right after my 7:42 post.

I see that this board and the Burch board have gone into Bible studies once again...in Nashville, TN, this is to be expected.

Big Papa is right, Sandusky targeted blond, fatherless boys; his "charity" was a ruse...it was the mechanism that funneled in the fresh boy-flesh.

Sandusky's Second Mile charity should be sued into oblivion along with Penn State, IMO. Somebody at Second Mile must have known that the operation was a sinful scam.....or were they all as dumb as Sandusky's wife and Penn State's leadership?

By: dargent7 on 6/22/12 at 12:42

I think we all forget, even in prison there's a "honor system".
The lowest of the low, child molestors, get raped by the biggest, badest convicts.
That fate awaits Sandusky.
He'll commit suicide. Watch.

By: Loner on 6/22/12 at 1:03

They'll put Sandusky in the country club wing, Darge....he'll shave some points off his handicap? The dude would not last a month in with the general population....the Warden will make sure that Sandusky is safe...not out of love for the man...but as a CYA.

Of course, I could be wrong...the prison football team may need a good coach...Sandusky might move in with the Warden.

By: yogiman on 6/22/12 at 1:04

Sorry, bfra,

I'm not too sure of your mental capability. I thought you would understand when I made the remark about your question; "Explain how anyone on this board can offend you physically?" and I answered "It could be regretted if they did."

Do you understand that now?

By: BigPapa on 6/22/12 at 1:06

"He'll commit suicide. Watch"
Nope I dont think so, I think he's too big of an egotistical b@stard for that.

I wonder if this recent "confession" by his adopted son is merely a ruse to get a mistrial and to let Sandusky get yet another bite at the apple* and further torture and intimidate the victims that have already had to endure so much.

*Assuming that after a mistrial he recants during the new trial. btw the son is 33 yrs old.

By: Loner on 6/22/12 at 1:10

The people of Sandusky, Ohio must be contemplating a name change for their fair city....who could blame them?

By: bfra on 6/22/12 at 1:24

yogi - "Explain how anyone on this board can offend you physically?" and I answered "It could be regretted if they did."
How, in case your pea brain doesn't wrap around that, stipulates a "question", thus the "?", at the end. I see no explanation as to "how".

By: BenDover on 6/22/12 at 1:31

I bet Hillary hooked up with Fred Thompson during the meetings, slack. Two lawyers... both with a hard on for a sitting president would not be able to contain themselves.

By: slacker on 6/22/12 at 1:34

BigPapa I agree, narcissists don't commit suicide. My theory on the abused son, is he wants to cash in on the Penn State lawsuit windfall.

By: slacker on 6/22/12 at 1:41

Ben wouldn't doubt it. Ole Fred mighta shown Hillary his ''etchings.''

By: Loner on 6/22/12 at 2:09

Fred Thompson and Hillary Clinton getting it on is neither a pleasant nor erotic image....Hillary with the whip....Fred on all fours....not good....how do come up with those odd fantasies, Ben?

By: yogiman on 6/22/12 at 2:41

I'm sorry, bfra. You don't seem to be able to read a simple sentence very well. If you had read it, the "?" at the end of the question you asked me was before the quotation mark I showed at the end of your question. I then completed my sentence with a period at the end.

Sorry, you can take summer school again this year.

By: bfra on 6/22/12 at 2:49

yogi - whatever screwball! You still didn't answer the question and don't have sense enough to know what it was!

The most wondering thought to me is why so many of these young men allowed it to happen to them. I know me and I know what would have happened to the man if he "approached" me in my youth.

Loner, I used to think that. But last year at my class reunion I got an eye-opener. I was mentioning to a male classmate that our drama/English teacher was the one teacher I could thank for building my self-esteem (from broken family, etc) and my classmate said "While he was building your self-esteem he was destroying self esteem in me and a few others".

I said "what?". And he confided in me that good old Mr. Wilson was molesting him and other guys at our school. They were afraid to talk about it. The teacher is dead now! But people are still hurt by what he did.

So I now understand that people don't always come forth because they are afraid.

By: yogiman on 6/22/12 at 4:40

I understand to a point what you're saying, budlight. But I must say I am my father's son. And, of course, I had a great mother that taught me a lot about life.

But my dad taught me, and my brothers, what to do if anyone "came at us". He meant if they were bullying or trying to start a fight. We were taught never to start a fight but be ready to finish it if someone started one on us.

Back then, not much was said about homosexuality because it was a no no thing. And I don't think it was a widespread "game" then as it is now. Of course, there has been one hell of a population growth since my childhood and every number multiplies (no no, not many of them are mine).

My dad also taught my brothers and me how to handle a gun on our 8th birthday. Of course, that was back in the 1930s. Things have change since then. Some of it better, some of it worse. Take your pick.

In WWII, food was hard to find in a grocery store. I had a 22 rifle and a friend of mine had a shotgun. There was no limit back then on rabbits and squirrels back then and we went hunting every day. If we saw one sitting, I shot with my rifle. I I missed, George got it with his shotgun. We never went home without a meal that day.

Them wuz the good ole days in many ways.

Excuse me, did I misinterpret your question? How about re-writing it and itemizing it so I can understand what you are asking.

Be sure to put a question mark on it.

By: BenDover on 6/22/12 at 5:32

Hey... they both lit out like a lion after Tricky Dick loner... that's chemistry there now.

By: yogiman on 6/22/12 at 10:39

Since you don't seem to be capable of re-affirming your question yet you keep insisting I answer, let's see it I've edited it very well and found the statement you call a question.

At 12:3, you made the statement: "yogi - with your pea brain, explain how anyone on this board can offend you physically?" (that's a question? That looks like a statement with a question mark instead of a period)

At 12:49 I responded with the statement: "I hope it's because of their child sized brain, bfra, it could be regretted if they did." (presuming with your child sized brain you might even understand what I said)

At 1:00 you came back with: "No answer, uh?"

Must I presume then, you didn't understand what I was saying, so let's put it this way: Anyone on this board could find me in person, physically, since your friend, nimrod (Captain Nemo), posted my name, address and phone number on this site. I then presume you (anyone) on this board have enough intelligence to find me physically if you wish.

I hope this answers your question if your statement was intended to be a question.

Sandusky was found guilty this evening on 45 counts. I understand he faces 442 years in prison which means he will die there. Good for him!

By: yogiman on 6/24/12 at 3:15

I see they have a 24/7 guard on him because of fear he will commit suicide. Hell, go to the bathroom for a "need to go" situation. Thirty minutes should be long enough.
