Up for Debate: Sandy looms

Monday, October 29, 2012 at 12:34am

Following dozens of deaths in the Caribbean, Hurricane Sandy's expected landfall in the Northeast has already severely impacted the region with mass closures and transit service stoppages. How destructive do you think the overall impact will be to residents, infrastructure, the economy, etc.?

Don't feed the trolls, I gave them enough scraps already.

gdiafante - They are out in force this AM. The polls must have them riled up.

Thanks for your concern, folks...I live in the far West of New York state...West of the Finger Lakes...between Rochester and Buffalo....NYC is about 400 miles from here....when we think of the "coast" we think of the Northern Coast, the Great Lakes.

We'll get hit, but it should not be so bad here...we may get snow, however....just in time for Tricks & Treats.

I enjoyed myself Sat. night at a Halloween Party at the C&S Saloon...I went as Willie Nelson...no make-up needed...just my black leather cowboy hat (purchased in Nashville,TN), a read bandana around my neck, a Willie Nelson T-shirt on (just in case they need a hint), my black leather duster, boots, blue jeans and a Paper Jamz guitar...lots of hot young chicks forced me to pose with them for pictures...life is good...lots of the "kids" asked me, "Where's the weed, Willie?" Next year, I'll pass out J's to those who ask me that.

LOL, Loner.

I may paint my face like a Day of the Dead doll. I haven't decided yet.

By: bfra on 10/29/12 at 8:54

LOL Loner - I was in Buffalo for the Titans game. First visit, but had a great time.

Blanket - 1 daughter is going to be "9", whatever that is. She tried to explain it but I am not into movies like she is, so her explaination was lost.

By: Loner on 10/29/12 at 9:05

Glad you enjoyed the report from the C&S, Bn....some young hottie had a zombie-faced make-up job...that and a red corset, a black tutu, wild black panty hose and high heels....all the young studs were sniffing around that...she left, arm in arm, with another girl....lots of that going on these days.

The drunken and frustrated young males (this is a college town) then started howling and issuing macho threats against each other. after the bars closed..like young bucks in the rut...the cops were out in force at closing time...I waited until a ruckus started up the road, when all the cop cars gathered at that scene, the Lone One slipped out of town in the DJ5-L....young chicks yelling after me, "Take me for a ride!"...no I don't make this shit up....that old postal jeep is the biggest chick magnet I have ever seen....must be the tie-dyed privacy curtains and the aroma of incense wafting out of the vehicle....certainly couldn't be me.

By: Loner on 10/29/12 at 9:06

Bfra, had I known that you were at the Bills game, I might have gone too.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/29/12 at 9:13

LOL, Loner. Sounds like a wild time!

By: yogiman on 10/29/12 at 9:17

Loner,

If Obama got bin Laden, why did he bury him at sea immediately without letting anyone identify him? And why was the Seals killed just a few days later?

Just an accident? BS. You people had better wake up before it's too late.

You should read a catalog of Obama's crimes against America. It ain't funny.

It's only 8 days to the vote and you can bet your a@@ he doesn't intend to give that office up. I understand his "civilian security force" has graduated and [ready for action].

If you want to read it, go to www.redstate.com/americaneagle/2010/01/04/a-catalog-of-obamas-crimes-against-america/

And remember, this was put out in 2010. What else has gone on since them?

By: bfra on 10/29/12 at 9:20

Loner - Kinda a sudden decision but when someone says go, I am ready. LOL

Does sound like you had a hi old time at the C&S.

By: yogiman on 10/29/12 at 9:20

How do you know so much about the year book, gdiafante? Are you one of them?

Yes, we had a high time out behind the C&S Saloon...the local cop shop is also back there, behind a stockade fence...it feels especially gratifying to smoke a big fattie, while watching the fuzz go about there business, some 30 yards away...I smoke just outside of their olfactory zone.

By: bfra on 10/29/12 at 9:52

Loner - Best you don't let them see or they would all join you probably. LOL

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/29/12 at 9:53

bfra - that sort of reminds me of a joke.

Do you know why you take two Baptists with you when you go fishing? If you take only one he will drink all your beer!

By: bfra on 10/29/12 at 9:56

LOL Blanket

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/29/12 at 10:08

Wow, Boston has now suspended public trans.

Wait that's an old Mormon joke (actually told to me by an old Mormon)....

His second favorite Mormon joke...

Name two things Mormons do not recognize.....

1) The immaculate conception
2) Another Mormon in the liquor store.

Hi Yogi, et al; hope hurricane does not harm any people; hope they take cover and evacuate to protect themselves.

I'm hoping we don't get too much of it here. I went to Titans game yesterday; there were some, well, not exactly good calls, by the refs. But since I'm only a spectator, who am I to complain? The titans sort of got robbed on a couple of calls. BUT overall it was good. BUT way too cold; our seats would have been awesome if they were in the SUN. Shade is not good on windy cold days.

Wise you the best in your new business bud. I saw the signs pointing to The Hoe Down.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/29/12 at 11:19

bud says she is only a spectator, but who is she to complain...I sure couldn't tell by all of the post she makes. LOL

Loner the tract of the storm looks as if it will head you way tomorrow.

By: pswindle on 10/29/12 at 11:32

Yogi,
You must read the GOP blogs to get your crazy info. Did you hear Romney tell the people of Ohio that the Jeep company is moving to China? Well, that's not true, they are hiring more workers. He got his info on a GOP Blog. He doesn't want the truth, he will say or do anything.

By: Kosh III on 10/29/12 at 11:35

At least now we know who to blame for this major hurricane.

By: jvh2b on 10/29/12 at 11:58

Yeah sorry about that Kosh...I tried to talk all those militant gays not to relase this bad boy so close to the election, but they wanted to get back to their school recruiting so badly, so my voice was never heard...

By: Loner on 10/29/12 at 12:33

The storm is supposed to hit here around five o'clock...EDT....got my flashlight & candles ready...we have a well with a hand pump, so we can use buckets of well-water to flush the toilets...also have a 2.5 KW generator...and we have a wood burning stove, if we need to use it....plenty of NYS wines on hand...we should be good to go.

By: Loner on 10/29/12 at 12:38

I'm playing this BINGO card too:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/gaza-health-official-palestinian-man-killed-in-israeli-strike-after-days-of-calm/2012/10/27/e12f7b80-2099-11e2-8817-41b9a7aaabc7_allComments.html?ctab=all_&

The board is winding down, but the commentary was good.

I noticed that the URL for the page does not match the headline:

Palestinians vow to press forward with UN recognition, despite Israeli and US objections

I'll go with the URL provided, we'll see if it works....

By: Loner on 10/29/12 at 12:40

The link works...but why would the URL not match the headline?

By: Loner on 10/29/12 at 12:51

Here's a piece of hot news that will probably affect the US..source:

http://www.jta.org/news/article/2012/10/29/3110581/likud-party-approves-election-list-merger-with-yisrael-beiteinu
Likud Party approves election list merger with Yisrael Beiteinu

October 29, 2012

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- The Likud Party reportedly voted overwhelmingly to approve merging its candidates list with the nationalist Yisrael Beiteinu party.

Likud members gathered Monday at a party convention in Tel Aviv to vote on the proposal floated last week by the Likud chairman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Yisrael Beiteinu head Avigdor Liberman, the foreign minister.

A move to put the vote on the proposal to a secret ballot was denied at the convention.

The proposal included stipulations that the Likud head will choose the position of the party's candidates on the list, as determined by a party primary, and that the two parties will be represented on the list with the balance in the current government -- 27 seats for Likud and 15 for Yisrael Beiteinu.

Israeli general elections are set for Jan. 22.

(end snippet)

Bibi Netanyahu will have his hand strengthened at home...and the PM will easily win re-election, just 2 days after the POTUS is sworn in...excellent timing. The clamor for war with Iran will be intense....hopefully, Bishop Romney will not be occupying the White House when this comes about....even Obama will be hard-pressed to resist the sucking action....Holy Wars Suck.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/29/12 at 12:54

The stock exchange announced it will be closed tomorrow as well.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/29/12 at 12:59

I bet Romney isn't talking about his plan to cut FEMA right about now.

By: parnell3rd on 10/29/12 at 1:00

I find it interesting hoe the City paper would rather talk about a Hurricane instead of talking about the facts of the cover up of Lybia. how our President lied to the nation.
Yes the Hurricane is news, but the same news outlets ignored our floods 2 years ago. FYI President Obama flew over Tennessee during the floods to go shut down the oil rigs in the gulf costing thousands of American's their jobs. He Also flew Over Tennessee again during our recovery to go to hurricane Katrina's 5th anniversary.
Why? Is the President a racist for flying over Tennessee twice because we are too white, too country, and too conservative?

Romney Wants To Disband FEMA- Do You Think N.J. Governor Chris Christie Agrees With The GOP Today?

Hmmm...P3...maybe because the storm is going to affect 60 million people, three or four of our largest cities including the nation's capital, has disrupted communication and mass transportation...shall I go on?

Now, like a good little sheep, go back to Fox and memorize some more of your talking points.

By: bfra on 10/29/12 at 2:09

gdiafante - Great response to P3

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/29/12 at 2:15

Heck of a time for a full moon.

By: govskeptic on 10/29/12 at 2:24

Parnell:

It was reported that Air Force One wiggled it's wings as it flew over Memphis on that
particular fly over. Don't get too concerned over this event as the President is in the Oval Office on full alert with M16 in one hand for any terrorist and the phone to FEMA and Chris Matthews in the other. All is safe and well with the world.

By: bfra on 10/29/12 at 2:30

That's better than the way Bush/Chaney ran & hid after 9/11!

By: BigPapa on 10/29/12 at 2:39
