Up for Debate: SCOTUS rules on eavesdropping

In a ruling Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a law that protected communications companies working with the government in wiretapping operations from lawsuits. The law had been criticized by civil libertarians for giving too much power to the government. Do you agree with the court's action? Do you think there will come a time when the practice is either accepted or rolled back?

That first quote sure fits the bill in what we need in a POTUS....Junior Bush & Cheney revealed the truth of Karras' words....on the positive side, so did FDR....IMO.
I must disagree with you on your argument Harry Truman wasn't a humanitarian. He thought about the outcome of the Bomb before he had it dropped.
Our men were on their way to attack Japan when the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. The Emperor was given the choice to surrender of be bombed. The Emperor refused to surrender and Truman had the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. He thought Japan would surrender, but they didn't. He waited a couple of days for them to see what the devastation was but he still refused..., so the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Three days later the Japanese surrendered and the troops ships turned around and went home.
Truman didn't want to drop those bombs but didn't want thousands more of our men killed when we had such a devastating bomb.
Give the man credit, he may have saved your grandfather.

We should also note that President Obama has been a strong supporter of the Bush-era law that was just upheld....his AG has used the law some 30 times, according to reliable sources....this is the "hope & change" that BHO promised us?

In the meantime, a black coalition of ministers have founded God Says and plan to donate 1 million to getting him out of the white house by pulling 25% of his black voters to vote for Romney. I believe that he has shot himself in the foot by trying to pander to every special interest group that drops him a dime. He's bought and paid for and hopefully people will see that he's part of the 1% -- only he's worse. He's not from what they call "old" money. He's one of the new found wealth crowd who does not wear it well; lives HIGH ON THE HOG AND FLAUNTS IT while telling everyone else to cut back.

Have any of you chile minded elders ever heard of the Battle for Athens, that being Athens Tennessee? It was a "fight" for the ballots in 1946 when the local politicians tried to takeover. They called it stealing the votes back then. They call it usurpation at the national level today.

Blanket - Around the 2 Warner parks & out I-40 are some beautiful areas for seeing the fall leaf colors.
Around Center Hill Lake is also beautiful this time of year. Really all over TN because of the hills.

I think the leaves are prettier than in the Carolina's is that part of I-40 is farther north.

Well you got Center Hill lake as bfra suggested off I-40. I got to take a break, my cat just turned something over.
Nothing is more beautiful than my hometown of Smithville and Center Hill Lake.
It is wanting attention because it was left a lone for 30hrs. I check in later.
Where do the hills begin West of the Tennessee River, bfra? That was all flat land when I lived there.
You are so right pswindle. It has been some time since I drove through there. Another great drive is to go around Cordell Hull Lake.
