In a ruling Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a law that protected communications companies working with the government in wiretapping operations from lawsuits. The law had been criticized by civil libertarians for giving too much power to the government. Do you agree with the court's action? Do you think there will come a time when the practice is either accepted or rolled back?

Alex Karras quotes:
“It takes more courage to reveal insecurities than to hide them, more strength to relate to people than to dominate them, more 'manhood' to abide by thought-out principles rather than blind reflex. Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles and an immature mind.”
“My best score ever is 103, but I've only been playing 15 years.”
“Hey, is this room out of bounds?”

That first quote sure fits the bill in what we need in a POTUS....Junior Bush & Cheney revealed the truth of Karras' words....on the positive side, so did FDR....IMO.
I must disagree with you on your argument Harry Truman wasn't a humanitarian. He thought about the outcome of the Bomb before he had it dropped.
Our men were on their way to attack Japan when the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. The Emperor was given the choice to surrender of be bombed. The Emperor refused to surrender and Truman had the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. He thought Japan would surrender, but they didn't. He waited a couple of days for them to see what the devastation was but he still refused..., so the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Three days later the Japanese surrendered and the troops ships turned around and went home.
Truman didn't want to drop those bombs but didn't want thousands more of our men killed when we had such a devastating bomb.
Give the man credit, he may have saved your grandfather.

A flurry of rhetoricals: Where is Ben Dover? Is John Galt lurking out there? Chief Payne, are you out there? And Govseptic, where are you? Is D7 gone for good? And Slacker...where is that slacker? And House_of_Pain....I miss those posters...and the others who have quit posting here....where did they go and why?

I gotta run along, kids....I came. I ranted. I split....I'll try to win the 4:20 Award today....stay intellectually & spiritually thirsty, my friends.

Loner,
How about y'all showing you know which buttons you're clicking? You know; like (on) or (off).
That way, you won't have to go back up the "ladder" to see which button you pushed last and I won't have to guess which button you've pushed last.
Thanks for you cooperation, I appreciate it.

We know why they left, Loner. It's also the reason we have to [click] on here daily. I too am beginning to wonder what's the point.
The point is I don't agree with you all, gdiafante, and you all think I should. But none of you have ever offered any proof over my argument. Only your thoughts, and you think I should think like you.
Sorry, prove me wrong and I'll accept it, but none of you has given one point of proof against my argument.
I've asked questions but I've received no answer. I've offered evidence, but I've received no acceptance.
So it's going to be a knock um down and drag um out fight until its over. Hang in there and let's see who's the winner.

gdiafante - Had to see a picture to place Karras, guess I didn't look at credits of 1 of my favorite shows, Webster. Then I read some of his other credits and he was quite versatile, other that football.

We should also note that President Obama has been a strong supporter of the Bush-era law that was just upheld....his AG has used the law some 30 times, according to reliable sources....this is the "hope & change" that BHO promised us?
Barack Obama is a reneger.
Sadly, the alternative is much worse.....We the People are Screwed.....unshakeable support for the "war on terror" is bipartisan....follow the money, the entire federal government is on the take.
Loner, if you say Barack Obama is a reneger 3 times real fast, it sounds like you are making a racist comment.
In the meantime, a black coalition of ministers have founded God Says and plan to donate 1 million to getting him out of the white house by pulling 25% of his black voters to vote for Romney. That's because the black community does not support his GAY agenda and marriage for gays. I didn't say it; THEY DID. I believe that he has shot himself in the foot by trying to pander to every special interest group that drops him a dime. He's bought and paid for and hopefully people will see that he's part of the 1% -- only he's worse. He's not from what they call "old" money. He's one of the new found wealth crowd who does not wear it well; lives HIGH ON THE HOG AND FLAUNTS IT while telling everyone else to cut back.
His free ride is over soon. God Bless America!

Here is an interesting backgrounder on Kagan:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/13/nyregion/13synagogue.html?_r=0
She's a feminist Zionist...on a mission from "G-d". We can thank Mr. Obama, for putting a schmuck like that on the nation's highest court....he was repaying his debt to his Jewish campaign donors....they got a lot of bang out of their buck.
Oh wow! Loner I thought you thought everything Obama did was OK and annointed. I thought you loved him and loved his picks for everything, including Kagan. I mean, isn't she the first Hispanic on the supreme court? I mean, doesn't that count for something? LOL
You people are getting what you voted for. Obama might just be Bush's puppet. He's somebody's puppet. Are you people just getting it at this late date?

Have any of you chile minded elders ever heard of the Battle for Athens, that being Athens Tennessee? It was a "fight" for the ballots in 1946 when the local politicians tried to takeover. They called it stealing the votes back then. They call it usurpation at the national level today.
Look it up on google.
Yogi, the "click" game is another way for them to express their fear of you or anyone who does not kiss their little whinnie fannies. They are babies; imbeciles; little know it all's who basically only know what they are fed by the liberal media.
So click is their way of running from intellectual dialogue. They are happy to be in their own "monologue" with themselves.
They claim to know everything, yet they know NOTHING!

Sorry to hear about Karras.

I have invented another troll off device. It was made especially for budlight. Is is a simple lever. Push down and (flush)
Boy, with that lever, I'd hate to see the water bill with those two...
Just use on bud. That should cut down on the water bill.
(fail)
Nemo - Be careful! Flushing a big mouth malarky spewer will probably cause you to need a plumber, which costs more than the water.:-)
I have to disagree with you on their lack of knowledge notion, budlight. They all know something, I just haven't been able to figure it out what it is they do know.
But is sure isn't the presidential requirements of the Constitution.

Well,
You're all showing your lack of intelligence, kids. The chickens click... and the roosters cluck. The roosters dominate. The chickens follow the intelligent roosters clicking their way behind them. All the chickens know how to do is lay eggs and have baby chickens. That's normal nature and they don't have to think.
Doesn't any of you know anything other than how to click?
Welcome to the chicken house, clickers. The rooster is out in the field.
Don't worry about it bfra, the new toilets can handle her with ease.
Did you fail or fall on your a$$, B2? I thought I heard a loud plop a minutes ago. It sure sounded like a big a$$ hitting the floor.
(fail)
Nemo, you're right. I should take a little road trip and check out the changing leaves. :)
Even around Nashville you can see some have already started to turn.
The nice thing about our new troll system is that you don't even have to read the post. Just (click) or (flush) and go about our lives as if nothing happen.

Blanket - Around the 2 Warner parks & out I-40 are some beautiful areas for seeing the fall leaf colors.
Around Center Hill Lake is also beautiful this time of year. Really all over TN because of the hills.
I love the new system, Nemo. Works wonderfully!
bfra, those are some great suggestions. I just might do that if the weather is pleasant this weekend. :)
I think the leaves are prettier than in the Carolina's is that part of I-40 is farther north.
I-40 is a pretty drive.
Well you got Center Hill lake as bfra suggested off I-40. I got to take a break, my cat just turned something over.
Nothing is more beautiful than my hometown of Smithville and Center Hill Lake.
It is wanting attention because it was left a lone for 30hrs. I check in later.
Where do the hills begin West of the Tennessee River, bfra? That was all flat land when I lived there.
You are so right pswindle. It has been some time since I drove through there. Another great drive is to go around Cordell Hull Lake.

Cordell Hull is pretty too!
