Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 8:16pm

What do you think about the UndocuBus — a bus full of three dozen undocumented immigrants displaying their illegal status — rolling into to Nashville Thursday to raise awareness of immigration politics?

If we had a reliable police force in Nashville they would be waiting for them to escort to jail. You can bet your a$$ they won't pull such a stunt in Sheriff Joe's county in Arizona.

While not a legally declared Sanctuary City, we come close enough
for the Boosters of this visit to feel safe and right at home! The
Press, needing to sell papers and attract more TV viewers will probably
provide the refreshments and a cookie or two!

By: Ummm... on 8/16/12 at 5:44

Yogi and govskeptic flying their racist colors today, I see. Two good reasons why nobody (citizen or not) should want to visit middle Tennessee.

By: Ask01 on 8/16/12 at 6:00

Immigration laws are created and enacted for a simple reason.

People strive to come to America for their piece of the pie, the American Dream, an opportunity to earn a decent wage and provide an at least comfortable life for themselves and their family. (I guess they haven't been following the news.)

These folks only desire the same as the rst of us.

The problem is the fantasy of unlimited resources which has been foisted upon the world and the American public. We, in actuality, do have finite resources available. If we throw open the doors to everyone, pretty soon, the slice of the pie for each of us (unless you're a Romney, Rockefeller, or Kennedy,) will shrink to the point the immigrants will be perhaps worse off than back home.

I have no problem with immigrants. This nation was built on immigration, but LEGAL immigration. Those wishing to immigrate need to follow the laws and enter the country legally.

Otherwise, we need to enforce the laws regarding illegal aliens and have mass deportations, but for fun, let's send them to Antarctica or perhaps Siberia to deter them from re entering the country quickly.

As I posted elsewhere, someone explain to me why there seems no comprhension that "undocumented alien" is merely a euphemism for "illegal alien?"

Why do so many try to equate legal immigrants obeying the law with illegal aliens openly defying and breaking the law, daring law enforcement to arrest them?

Please explain without smoke and mirrors, whining, and profanity.

By: dargent7 on 8/16/12 at 6:01

This illegal alien/ immigrant "status" is getting out of hand. Yesterday Obama signed something allowing 3 million to stay in America for 5 years.
Joe the Plumber wants to build a fence and start shooting.
Now, these illegal guys are on a nationwide bus tour?
Who's next? Death Row inmates holding a convention.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 6:11

It's out of hand because law enforcement hasn't been enforcing the law and, let's be totally honest here, businesses won't stop hiring them because there is no penalty.

Everyone can whine and blame this person and that, but if there's no market for illegals, there would be no (or very, very few) illegals.

I don't blame them for coming here to attempt to build a better life. In fact, I've met quite a few and I think they're higher caliber than some of the twits on this board, that's for sure.

By: dargent7 on 8/16/12 at 6:12

Off Topic: The Powerball winning ticket was bought by one person in Michigan!
$332 million, a lump sum of about $225. million.
Imagine.

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 6:15

Strange, isn't it, Ummm? You're the only one that brings racism into the picture. Just like the President of this nation, I also like our visitors to be visitors legally. to hell with their race.

By: dargent7 on 8/16/12 at 6:19

re: gD's comment.
In Sylvan Park, by no means wealthy, but somewhat upscale, they're roofing every other house and tearing down two houses a block, once on the market for $280,000, to build a plastic 2-story piece of sh** for $550,000. And they all sell.
Guess who all the workers are?
Hint: all wear sombreos and speak strickly Spanish.
There's no way all these guys are here legally, with SS cards and valid Driver Licenses.
Oh, the construction cos./ owners are all white men.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 6:27

I know, Darge. A few years back I had some foundation work to our old house, the foreman was white, all the "grunts" were Spanish. Likely illegal but I don't know. However, the foreman told me that they have the advantage over Americans because they work harder, don't rock the boat about less pay and allow the owner to skirt paying some taxes, etc.

Yes, he actually told me that. Apparently intelligence wasn't a factor in hiring a foreman for that company.

I still think it's really all about employers...you know...the job creators...thank god they get tax breaks so they can further play the system by hiring illegals...

I love the smell of supply-side economics in the morning.

By: Loner on 8/16/12 at 6:33

Good morning, Nashville.

Those "illegals" sure have balls...TN is awash in firearms and hate....I remember the "Freedom Riders" in the 60's...some were brutally killed by armed Southern rednecks...those rednecks have bred a whole new generation of hateful A-holes....may God protect those brave, brown-skinned protesters from bigoted white Christians.

If the goal of the undocumented bus riders is to create awareness of their plight, I don't agree with the tactic...this only invites an attack from KKK types, skinheads, born-agains etc.

We should simply annex Mexico...problem solved. (Just kidding.)

By: parnell3rd on 8/16/12 at 6:51

Ummm and Loner, i guess you would be okay if 3 dozen murderer's or rapist were free to go on a bus tour would make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
You would be okay with that correct?
We all know that your democratic fathers, grandfathers etc. was in the KKK. Democrats is the party that oppresses other races. Keeps them in poor economic bondage with just enough to survive.
How about we give all of the dui offenders all the legal alcohol they can drink and some buses to go on tour. What? No? Well what is the difference? they are breaking the laws just like the illegals.

By: dargent7 on 8/16/12 at 6:57

Further....at both Marriott hotels, 75% of the wait staff are Egyptian. 75% of the cleaning ladies/ maids are Latino.
The Marriott absolutely requires 3 forms of valid ID's. They're all legal.

At the Music City Concention Center most of the construction workers are white.
Because that's a serious project.
Using a staple/ nail gun on a home's roof in 100 degree weather doesn't take a MIT graduate.

By: dargent7 on 8/16/12 at 7:07

Forget about Romney "being unhinged".
Check out p-3rd's 6:51 post.
Demented.

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 7:09

Maybe it would be better if Mexico adopted us, Loner. That would solve the illegal immigration status, wouldn't it?

I sure as hell wouldn't go down there illegally, would you?

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 7:23

I would go anywhere I had to in order to provide for my family. They come first. To ignore the economics of the situation shows your ignorance.

Parnell seems more like KKK material than most.

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 7:34

I don't think many US citizens would find it necessary to go to Mexico to find work, gdiafante, since the pay rates are better here. But what I've read about it, being arrested for being in Mexico illegally won't make you a guest inmate.

By: budlight on 8/16/12 at 7:38

Saturday I had a family come over to help me with chores around the house. The mother was fired from her job at a well known company in this city. A company that claims to help the helpless. She has 6 kids to feed. They told unemployment that she quit her job. But the unemployment saw through it and gave her the benefits. $75 a week, plus $50 for 6 kids. She is legally here from Mexico as is her whole family.

If she were illegal, she'd probably get $1500 a week. But she gets a measley $125 and "might" get food stamps. She is diligently seeking work. Her husband's job doesn't cover everything for them. She HAS to work.

So am I hearing you illegal supporters saying that we should allow millions more to be here and give them amnesty so they can take all the jobs because they were doing the jobs cheaper?

Well, when they get their legal papers, Loner and all ya'll supporters of them, they will be able to scream and yell. And you watch, they will. There will be more law suits than you can shake a stick at.

I say: Welcome to America if you are coming here legally. If not, go home.

By the way, how many of you don't have a driver's license? Loner, do you drive without one? How about you G? Or do you all go get your license cause it's the LEGAL thing to do? Same premise holds true for entering a country. Try to go to Mexico illegally. You'll never get out of jail! Or China? Or Russia? Really people, get a grip.

I think most of you really don't mean what you say about allowing illegals. OR else why would you drive within the speed limits posted? Get a drivers' license? Pay your taxes? Your arguments don't add up.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 7:39

I think that if conditions were ripe, yes they would. Put it this way. If the roles were reversed, if the U.S. had the conditions that Mexico now has, and vice versa, wouldn't you leave?

By: budlight on 8/16/12 at 7:43

Parnell, these yahoos who advocate for illegals are forgetting about the murders they commit under the radar, the robberies they commit and the drunk driving accidents they have which kill legal citiens.

All people need to be accounted for. How can you account for people who are sneaking in under the radar?

D7, how many illegals do you have living in your back shed? How about you, Loner? Remember the illegal that lived in the closet in Brentwood? When the woman's husband found him, he said "get out" and left his house to walk his dog so she could get him out of the house safely. Then the husband came home and the sorry sob illegal beat him to death? I hope that the illegal and the wife are rotting in jail. They guy had the decency to leave his own home to allow the sorry illegal to leave safely. The husband should have beat them both with the baseball bat. That was so sad.

Anyone who will break into your country, will break into your home. After all, the laws are the laws.

And it does not matter what your race is. Obeying the law has no race.

By: budlight on 8/16/12 at 7:45

G, since conditions are so bad, why don't you adopt a family and send them some money?

You and Bill Gates. He thinks capitalism is bad, and yet he made billions BECAUSE of capitalism. How two-faced is that? Oh that's right. He said it so it must be so.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 7:51

How do you know I don't, Bud? Maybe I do, maybe I don't. If I did, I certainly wouldn't advertise it to the likes of you.

And when did Gates say he thinks Capitalism is bad? I believe he said that he has become impatient with its shortcomings. So I must assume you think Capitalism is perfect?

You of all people should know that nothing is perfect except God...lol

By: govskeptic on 8/16/12 at 8:13

The Bus will probably not be given a "Key to the City" since the US Chamber
of Commerce and the Federal Government presented a "Key to the Nation"
many years ago. This Mayor and most other living one's over the last 20
years along with the Nashville Media will likely be handing out Tacos,
barbecued chicken lips, and 5 times re fried beans, and no Pork please!
Gaylord will pass out job applications.

By: budlight on 8/16/12 at 8:26

G, why would Gates be "impatient" with the shortcomings of capitalism? I mean, he is the epitome of capitalism at its finest. He figured out how to invent something that millions (perhaps billions) of people wanted and he could have it manufactured by poor unsuspecting Indians (India) and Chinease for peanuts and sell to others for a mint. He's made his billions off the backs of the honest, hard working populace in many countries. And no one else can use his "ideas". So why does he think it has so many shortcomings?

I think Capitalism is as near perfect as it gets for a free economy. I mean, what do you suggest? Communism? Socialism? Marxism? If the government can give it to you, they can take it away! What part of that don't you get?

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 8:37

budlight,

Let's face it, our nation is run by Congress. Congress has the highest power in the nation, including the Oval Office and Supreme Court. So who caused this nation to go straight to hell?

When Harry Truman left office, there was no retirement then. Truman wasn't a wealthy man and Congress felt he should be "taken care of". He shouldn't have to go to work on a common job after being the President of the USA, so they passed the law giving a retirement benefit to him and the future President's.

Congress started figuring how they could pass laws regarding benefits for themselves.

I wish our founders could have looked into the future better than they did. But I guess they never though their nation would advanced as it has.

Lately, what has Congress done except sit on their buts and collect their "salaries" and advance their benefits.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 8:40

Well, you could actually try and find out what he really said, or you can post your nonsense here.

Since you did the latter, I'll show you the former...

http://www.carnegiecouncil.org/studio/transcripts/0090.html

And FYI: it's Chinese.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 8:44

I wish our founders could have looked into the future better than they did. But I guess they never though their nation would advanced as it has.

Are you completely batsh!t? The Constitition was designed to be adaptable, hence judicial review, amendments, etc. Read the Federalists papers, or other works by the founders that clearly and precisely laid out the belief that America, given a chance and aided by its vast natural resources, could easily become the world power.

By: govskeptic on 8/16/12 at 8:46

Yogi: Your timing is wrong about Truman. He paid his own way home on the
train after leaving office, he had to sell a portion of his farm to pay a secretary
to help with mountains of letters and other correspondence. Lyndon Johnson,
hoping to be President some day, visited Truman in the late 50's and saw
the blight and unpaid expense he was bearing and got a few things passed
through Congress to help him out. Truman was never assigned a single
bodyguard after leaving office, even though an attempt was made on his
life during his term. Just a little story about the pre-crowned Kings of today.

By: MusicCity615 on 8/16/12 at 8:49

I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Burch writes an article stating that republics are evil because they refuse to fund illegal immigrants housing, education, food stamps, health care, vacations, clothes, etc.

By: BenDover on 8/16/12 at 8:50

I'm fully in support of immigration reform and what most people would call 'amnesty' ... that is, allowing people who are here illegally to lawfully become documented so that they can stay and participate under a guest worker program.

That said, these people should be arrested on site and deported for flaunting their lack of respect for our laws and our public authority.

Buh bye...

By: BenDover on 8/16/12 at 8:51

Note: I've not read the whole story and don't have time to now. I just read the tease on this page.

By: MusicCity615 on 8/16/12 at 8:52

America needs to not give amnesty to everyone, but give incentives to everyone -

If you are an undocumented alien with a college education, your chances of receiving citizenship (with no prior criminal records) are extremely high.

This idea was first presented by Marco Rubio, who I hope is president someday.

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 9:20

Yes, gdiafante, Congress can, and has, amended our Constitution XXVII times, with the consent of we, the people. Please excuse me for not being more specific.

I just wish they could have seen what kind of situation our nation could be in in later years and placed official requirements for a person to be determined a natural born citizen, officially proving they are.

But..., the didn't and what do we have? A man in the Oval Office who refuses to identify himself. And a Congress that's willing to set on their a$$es and let him take this nation into communism.

Are they with him? If it's to their political career advantage, you can bet your a$$ they are.

If not, why didn't any of them bring the question up in 2008? And why has none of them brought it up since his usurpation of office?

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 9:32

BenDover,

I fully disagree with you on free illegal amnesty. Too many people from all around the have been trying to come here legally.

I read where a family of Dr. Alan Keyes friends from Indian had been trying (at that time) for over 10 years to come to the US and become citizens.

They were willing to wait until accepted legally but any other could just come on in illegally and it would be okay for them to be accepted? No way, Hoesay.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 9:32

...here we go again...yawn

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 9:34

No way, Hoesay

LOL...what an idiot...

And since when is Indian a place? LOL

By: IdiotSmackDown on 8/16/12 at 9:37

Hoesay - lol! yogi, you are one big idiot.

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 9:46

Sorry, gdiafante,

I'm not like you, I do make a typographical error occasionally. Especially when I'm typing and talking on my phone at the same time. I mistakenly put an "n" after the last letter of the word "India" for the nation of India. But I'm sure you never make an error, so I deeply apologize.

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 9:52

Sorry to you also, IdiotSmackDown,

I thought you might understand what I meant when I used colloquialism in the name I posted. Should I have used Jose, or Hosea?

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 9:57

Hoesay isn't a name, unless you're retarded. Are you retarded?

Rhetorical.

Another epic fail for yogi. What a surprise.

And you've proven you are unable to multitask, so stick with one or the other. Thanks.

By: Rasputin72 on 8/16/12 at 10:13

This is just another chapter in the decline of the social and political culture in this country. It is appalling but when the resident underclass has enough free stuff to avoid working a new underclass will appear to take those jobs. These new residents illegal or legal have arrived at their first step in the "free stuff" society. We want "free integration" into this country.

It makes some of us glad that we have the income the retensive culture of our parents and grandparents to watch this "mudslide" of humanity from our gated community.

I would not however recommend watching these animals from the parking area in front of Princes Hot Chicken on Ewing Lane. A vile crowd indeed!

There is a clothing establishment called the ":Entrepreneur Store" next door. There is a sign on the door that simply states. "If you waiting for your chicken, do not wait in my store."

By: yogiman on 8/16/12 at 10:34

I wish I had the intelligence you think you have, gdiafante, But I'm sure glad I don't have what you actually have.

If you can't determine a colloquial comment, I feel sorry for you.... really, I'm not kidding.

By: gdiafante on 8/16/12 at 10:39

Is that the word for the day, yogi?

And, it was the failure of your attempt that I mentioned, Mr. Obvious.

How many times, every day, is this phrase made by yogi? If he spent as much time learning "facts" as he does searching garbage sites & rumors, he might learn something.

He's a broken record, bfra. But he's old so dementia isn't out of the question.

His relentless, "I so bad, I'll get my gun, I know so much, then po pitiful me" comments are old and overly worn out.

If yogi is speaking or printing it is a racist converse.

The budlight clone from Madison stretches the topic to include murders and rapist.

This is apples and sour grapes thinking from another racist.
