Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 12:41am

The U.S. Defense Department is set to do away with the ban on allowing women to fight in combat. Do you agree with the decision? Discuss.

Based on the .number of male whimps ,swishes, mamas boys, dope heads and welfare trash that are in abundance, I see no reason that females cannot be considered for combat.

By: bfra on 1/24/13 at 2:30

Raspy - As like species tend to hang together, I am sure you are well aware of the abundance of your ilk.

By: Ask01 on 1/24/13 at 4:50

I have no doubt of the ability of the female of the species to kill. After all in the animal kingdom, lionesses do much of the hunting for the pride, and it is well known many female insects kill and eat the male after mating.

Todays weaponry is lighter and easier to handle than some earlier versions, making physical strength less of a concern than in previous years.

Physical stamina is dependent on an individuals dedication to training, and I've known some women who could put many men to shame.

So far as I understand, they will still not be allowed in front line units such as infantry and other so called "trigger puller" jobs where the goal is to actively engage enemy forces.

The intent, however, since combat has changed in todays battlefield environment, is to allow women to serve legally in units and jobs in forward areas where they could possibly engage opposing forces. I think this is kind of a backward response to cover some peoples hindquarters, as the changing character of warfare has already brought the battlefield to them.

Personally, if they can meet the standards mentally and physically, I have no problems with women serving in these positions.

There will be some protests, I'm sure, from the neanderthal set. Those who view women as dainty creatures, weak and unable to fend for themselves, needing protection at every turn. (Obviously, they never met my ex.)

We needn't worry about these folks though, I'm sure their spouses will straighten them out.

By: govskeptic on 1/24/13 at 5:15

Apparently they are just making legal or putting on the record what has been the
case for some time now. Ask01 is incorrect on these females not being on the
front lines, this is exactly what is being authorized. Study to be made as to joining
Seal and Special Forces units being the only current exceptions. 133 women
have been killed and 800 wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Will it take
two to load 75 pound mortar shells all day long? 5-10 mile hikes with 60 pound
packs on the back is not remembered as fun or exciting by this reader.

By: Ask01 on 1/24/13 at 5:23

I recall govskeptic, on the news last night, the exception was specifically front line combat units.

I could have misunderstood, or the reporter mislead, but either way, you are correct. Women have been put in harms way for years.

I also don't remember war as being exceptionally fun either.

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 5:44

Good morning, Nashville.

Women in combat roles? Why not? They wanted "equality" of opportunity.....they got it...now get in there...fight and die to make the world safe for apartheid Zionism in the Holy Land... it's America's Divine Destiny....Don't worry, Hell isn't half full....let's get with the program already....HUT, TWO, THREE, FOUR...Onward Ye Christian Soldiers.

Oh yeah, Holy Wars Suck.

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 5:46

The military is a meat grinder....welcome to the sausage factory, ladies.

By: yogiman on 1/24/13 at 5:52

Human nature will not let men see women as equal in a combat mission. Many men will get killed protecting the women in their units and human nature does not make women physically equal to men.

Will human nature be changed that they will "use the bathroom" together?

How many women will have babies on a battlefield?

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 5:52

Some boys want to become hair-dressers....some girls want to become female Rambo-types....some folks are happy and content with their birth gender, others are ingrates and malcontents....it's the human condition, I suppose.

By: Ask01 on 1/24/13 at 6:11

I was in the military when non conventional jobs were first opened to women. The old timers warned of all manner of evils to befall us, including entire squadrons of pregnant women and fights over women.

There were indeed some random problems, all dealt with appropriately, and the more mature members adapted to the new circumstances wonderfully.

I'm sure the military will, by and large, deal with the changes. The more advanced will thrive and the neanderthals will, get out, retire, or die off.

The times they are a changing, and when China gets the USA bought out our past will not matter. www.investmentwatchblog.com/does-china-plan-to-establish-cities-and-special-economic-zones-all-over-america/

Our "government" has been borrowing money from out enemy for decades now. Have we been sold out?

By: gdiafante on 1/24/13 at 6:42

Raspy whines about male whimps ,swishes, mamas boys, dope heads and welfare trash that are in abundance. The irony is that while he's correct, there are certainly people like that, many of them step up and serve our nation, including those poor pitiful, weak, inferior women, right gov?

Have you, stepped up, Raspy? Yeah, didn't think so.

FYI: they don't assign tasks in the military to those who are physically unable to do so. Such a straw man...

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 6:51

Rasp's fantasy life does not have a military component...he's in la-la land....thinks he's Thurston Howell III....poor devil.....thinks he's fooling us into believing his theatrics....too much squeezed Sterno?

When I was a young man, they used the draft (military conscription) to fill the combat boots... and when enough draftees died in a dubious military adventure, the war finally ended.

Today, we have an all-volunteer Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard; no draftees are dying or being maimed, so dubious military adventures can proceed indefinitely....as they have in Afghanistan. BTW, the US plans to leave a "small" residual force in that hell-hole once we officially "leave" in 2014....and US aid to the puppet regime there will be expensive and long-term.

As long as there are vast energy reserves in Central Asia, Afghanistan will remain coveted, strategic territory....that's the real reason for our huge investment in the pacification scheme...of course, "fighting terrorism" is the good reason, the official reason that we are there.

As I said, I support the troops, but I question the mission.

Combat pay.. ain't worth getting shot at ladies.

By: yogiman on 1/24/13 at 8:23

Hmmm, how do you know so much about squeezed Sterno, Loner? Is that what had such a negative affect on your brain?

By: Captain Nemo on 1/24/13 at 8:33

Women having in harms way as long as there has been fighting. Now they will be able to receive combat pay and promotion. It is about time.

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 8:37

Gd: Here's one of my favorite passages in Washington's Farewell Address...advice that we have foolishly ignored:

"So likewise, a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite nation of privileges denied to others which is apt doubly to injure the nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained, and by exciting jealousy, ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld. And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens (who devote themselves to the favorite nation), facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation." (End Quote)

After reading that, the US-Israel "Special Relationship" certainly comes to mind....George Washington was not only a brilliant military leader and a gifted statesman, he was clairvoyant and prophetic.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/24/13 at 8:38

Rasputin should talk. He was old enough for the draft, but that boy hide behind his grandmother to avoid the Army.

You are a piece of dog crap Raspy, for posting such shameful statement.

By: Moonglow1 on 1/24/13 at 8:40

Moonglow1: With 3 & 4 deployments and numerous young men suffering from traumatic brain injuries the war mongering politicians are reaching for new bodies to fight for oil interests and the interests of big business so now its women & gays. Hurrah for equality.

Hillary Clinton won the "war" yesterday!! She held her own against the numerous dumb nuts in the Repub party.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/24/13 at 8:43

The only combat Raspy ever play in was opening a coke bottle. I was told they would not play any games with kids his on age, because it meant he would get sweaty. Lazy sack of shit he is.

By: gdiafante on 1/24/13 at 8:50

I'm afraid you're talking about when you was in service, gdiafante. Ideas and attitudes have changed since your youth.

Really? So it's SOP to let the physically unable do the most physically demanding jobs? Twit.

And I remember the attitude toward WM's when I was in...it wasn't good. There were still dinosaurs that thought a woman's place was barefoot and pregnant. So yes, in that respect, attitudes have changed...thankfully.

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 8:51

I should have also included the very next paragraph in the address, here it is:

"As avenues to foreign influence in innumerable ways, such attachments are particularly alarming to the truly enlightened and independent patriot. How many opportunities do they afford to tamper with domestic factions, to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion, to influence or awe the public councils. Such an attachment of a small or weak towards a great and powerful nation dooms the former to be the satellite of the latter." (End Quote)

Wow...that's AIPAC and the Israel lobby. Factor in a pro-Israel US media and process is complete and seamless.

Just look at the flap over Chuck Hagel's nomination to head the US Defense Department....are we now a satellite of the Jewish state in Palestine? President Washington is turning over in his grave.

By: gdiafante on 1/24/13 at 8:58

I think most, if not all, of the founders have turned so many times in the grave they appear to the naked eye to be in a perpetual spin.

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 9:00

I agree, Gd, as if they were skewered on a hi-speed rotisserie.

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 9:43

Ben in your 9:17 post, are you in agreement with me that the US-Israel special relationship is an excellent example of the dangers that Washington warned about?

By: gdiafante on 1/24/13 at 9:45

When I was in Parris Island, the WM's trained right along side us guys...I'm 99.9% sure that some people who post here would get their ass kicked by at least half of them.

Here we are in the 21st century and people still believe the stereotypes of women that were circulating a hundred years ago...

And honestly, if you haven't put your ass on the line, you're one to talk about women who are gladly serving in your place.

Perfect Lemon Drop Martini recipe:

1 1/2 oz Grey Goose® vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1 tsp superfine sugar
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

Mix the Grey Goose vodka, triple sec, sugar and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice cubes. Shake well to make sure sugar is blended. Pour strained liquor into a sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a twisted peel of lemon.

NOTE: To create a sugar-rimmed glass, take a lemon wedge and rub the drinking surface of the glass so it is barely moist. Dip the edge of the glass into sugar.

At least 2 that has posted their garbage for the day, I will bet has never served 1 day in the Military. That's 2 that uses a male username, that doesn't mean they are male!

By: Loner on 1/24/13 at 9:53

I caught a fleeting glimpse of some WACs....never served alongside any.

This is the 21st century; let each one of us live, pursue happiness and be all we are capable of being...so long as your pleasure does not require my pain....and vice versa....Jesus said it best....that we should do unto others, as we would have them do unto us and that we must forgive each other, in order to be forgiven....that's sound advice, even for atheists.

Bfra...we got gender benders...right here....in River City...I mean, the NCP?

By: yogiman on 1/24/13 at 9:57

Loner, well said. Its a volunteer army so be it.

By: grid on 1/24/13 at 10:43

Thanks for the lemon drop recipe, Loner. That sounds tasty...I will be trying it.

Any suggestions on appetizers to go with said drink?

I don't always agree with what you say/write, but thumbs up on your 9:46 & 9:53 posts.

Look you old cow! I won't say anything nice about that flawed phoney bag of crap. He makes a comment about troops. The punk has never served in the military and you want to kiss his ass I think it is you that need to be nice. You are the one that needs to watch herself.

By: yogiman on 1/24/13 at 11:22

What service are you a veteran of, dumba$$, the boy's club?

By: bfra on 1/24/13 at 12:09

yogi - With all the (proven) lies you have posted on this board, who is nuts enough to believe you ever served anywhere?

By: dargent7 on 1/24/13 at 12:34

I think most of us know of "women in combat" from watching movies: "Private Benjamin" where Goldie Hawn wanted a condo and room service and "Officer and a Gentleman" where, "Segar, you still have to climb that wall..."
It's physics. Women cannot do 25 pull-ups.
They can pull a trigger, and have the mental capacity of a mouse like all men currently in the military.
Good for them.

By: gdiafante on 1/24/13 at 12:41

Private Benjamin and An Officer and a Gentleman? Yeah, if it was 1982...lol

I think there's been a few movies and TV shows since that have protrayed women as ass kickers...hell I was watching one the other day on Netflix...it's called Alias...you should update your video library, darge...lol
