President Obama, clearly contrite and drained from the losses during the mid-term elections, is regrouping and pledges to reach across the aisle.
This time he means it. Good luck.
Labeled a “crushing defeat” and “catastrophic losses” for Democrats, the sun still rose the next morning. He even characterized it as a “shellacking.”
Now, the Republicans control the House, and it’s going to be the same gridlock and butting of heads that we’ve come to expect from Washington.
Speaker Pelosi’s job is ending and the new one, Boehner, promises to defeat the prior two years of Obama’s hard labor. All of it.
There’s not one redeeming act or law Obama designed, created or signed off on?
Anyone think the Democrats will follow in lock step with any shiny new and improved agenda? Not a chance.
So, a new era is upon us and it’s just another day on Capitol Hill.

yep. what you said.
TGIF, folks.
Blanket - You are working too hard! Miss your comments & Nemo hasn't been here for a few days either.
Nemo - If you are absent due to surgery, hope everything is going your way and your sunrises are back soon.
TGIF.
Good letter Paul:
The "contriteness" to me sounded like the same statements
made prior to the President's being elected. The new
congress will not be able to get along with the President
because of the opposing agenda's, nor will the President
be able to slow down the always on going Re-election
campaign. Now let's head off to India for one hell of a
big Grandous show of America's wealth and might along
with half of the administration and all our friends and
family!
I was also wondering about "Nemo".
The last time I wondered were someone was, "dooley", well....I'm going to stop wondering.
Hope he's in Hawai'i surfing.
No matter what a sitting President does, the opposition would find fault.
Right now, we're in the rhetoric phase...everyone saying the right thing...the first thing up will be the Bush tax cuts. My guess is each side will go "all or nothing". It's not like either have the best interest of the country at heart.
Darge, is correct. Gridlock for the next two years at least.
I think we have the government we deserve.
hi, bfra! i miss having time to comment and i am working a lot more but i'm really enjoying it! it's more of what i want to be doing so i'm happy.
i hope Nemo is okay....

g, unfortunately i believe you're right. *sigh* more of the same.
i don't understand the big bruhaha about the trip to India. someone throws out a made up number of $200 million and everyone jumps on the crazy criticizing bandwagon without even fact checking. you know, i wish Bush had spent time and money working with other leaders rather than warmongering. a president is expected to meet and work with other nations. that's part of the job. it's not a big party or vacation. it's called diplomacy. the right wing should try it sometime.
Blanket, people forget that it costs money to run a government.
Did I say that out loud? I must be a Socialist.
lol, g! yes it does and isolationism doesn't work.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Nemo, if you're reading this I hope you're doing OK! Miss you....
Later, Blanket.
Blanket - If you have seen come comments, if Obama stumped his toe, he did it the wrong way, according to one, expecially.
oops (some comments)
d7 - Another good letter & did you enjoy the winery, without freezing?
bFrA: Yes, since I'm from Michigan, this is nothing.
Like "yogi", I always had to walk in the snow uphill, both ways this time of year...
The wines there are delicious, but way too expensive.
I tasted a cabernet and midway thru a swallow asked how much...$49.00!
Needed a Heimlick manuver.
Today, I buy the crap in boxes, $25. = 4 btls.
Arrington is way too far out for me to travel.
If I don't see the AT&T building, I'm completely lost.
later, house. keep the conga line movin!
House: Titans 0
Nobody 3
d7 - I enjoy the wine tasting & entertainment. Too many hills to see the AT&T bldg. lol
Wow...there are some really stupid people in this country. They've already debunked the whole "$200,000 per day" trip myth, but now people are upset because he's visiting a Muslim country...India...
You seriously can't make this stuff up.
$200 thousand? The idiots over at the Tennessean have it at $200. MILLION a day.
When pointed out, it's from a London newspaper and the figure is in pounds, not dollars, they still won't back off.
November 2, 2010 will go down in history as the day Middle Class America committed siucide. R.I.P
Good morning, Nashville!
Great LTE, Paul....your observations and analysis seem to be accurate; we will have near absolute gridlock in Washington from now on.
And there is blood in the water, Barack Hussein Obama is a wounded tuna; the sharks are circling and the other tuna are swimming away from him as fast as their tuna tails can propel them. Obama could be another Carter.
The GOP will blame the Senate and the WH for the inaction and stalemate. The WH and Senate will blame the House.
The GOP's main focus is to finish off Obama in 2012, that is their central obsession....it's a feeding frenzy.
I suppose that President Obama could emulate Harry Truman, and just drive himself and the Mrs. around India, Indonesia and the other destination points, ain'y that right, Yogi?

I've often been tempted to create a faux right wing blog for the purpose posting the most outrageous conspiracy crap; just to see how long it takes for it to get into the right wing echo chamber. :-)
This explains Fox News, brrrk. You can become a millionaire quite easily perpetuating these lies.
Gridlock beats the heck out of unchecked statism.

You caught me GD!!! My real name is Rupert.
Right Ben...tell that to the people who are upside down in their homes or have been unemployed for months.
bruhaha: 44 planes, 43 ships including 1 aircraft carrier,
800 people in total, 3 helecopters, 6 limos, +++, 10 days,
Entire 550 rooms in just one of the nicest hotels, nice for
diplomacy-show them you've got the stuff and the title!
Yeah, govskeptic is right. The President of the United States should say in a Motel 6 and be driven in a 72 Datsun.
The level of stupidity is increasing. It's going to blow...

Exactly! I have a friend back in Pa. who worked 10 years for a small manufacturing company out in the middle of nowhere (and if anyone knows Pa., they know there's a lot of nowhere there) as an industrial programmer. He has been out of work for a year now, and there's no hope of him finding a job like he had anywhere close to where he lives. And even if he did find a job somewhere else, there's no way that he can sell his house. He'd literally have to lose money to get someone to buy his house. Sure, he could possibly find a part time job (that is if someone would hire someone his age with his experience), but with the pay that part time jobs get in that area, he'd have to work 3 part time jobs just to come close to making what he made as a programmer; there just ain't enough hours in the day. In his own words, "I'm doomed".
Almost everyone I know is walking on eggshells, fearful that if they lose their job, they're ruined. There but for the grace of God go I...
I think that's the mood of the entire country.
gdia: let's get our stupidity right. India is a primarily Hindu country-not muslim!
I know that, gov. That was the point of my post.
Maybe you should tell this to your fellow anti-governement crazies.
will the political byword now change from "socialism" to "fascism"?

Unfortunately this type of environment only serves to perpetuate the problem because workers who would otherwise be more politically active are afraid to do so. Ravi Batra, Professor of Economics at SMU, has said that the only way to come out of these economic doldrums is for the middle class to get to the point where they no longer have anything to lose and start demanding change in their favor... and that this may happen as we go into a much deeper double dip recession. And for what it's worth, Batra has been on the money as far as economic predictions are concerned.
I'm not sure about the double dip, but I still believe there are structural problems with employment and neither party is willing to address this.
If unemployment is still above 9% in two years (very likely), what will the excuse be?
Oh yes, this desired gridlock...lovely.

It's time to bring back the Tillman Act. The newly elected Tea Party candidates believe that they'll change things, but in reality all they're really going to do (if they can) is lead the foxes right into the chicken coop.... and when the foxes are done with all the non Tea Party chickens... well... they'll be next on the menu. Bon appetit, foxes.
"The President of the United States should say in a Motel 6 and be driven in a 72 Datsun."
But then the righties, who have all the Chinese Walmart crap, would then blast Obama for driving a "foreign" car.
So make it a Pinto or Gremlin.
I have a dumb question; why is a writing from loner considered a 'reader's comment', and a writing from dargent7 a LTE?
Congress could help this nation if all who were defeated in election would retire and go home. No will. They are too damn mad they got beat because they didn't think they should be 'put out of office'. You can bet money on it, they are going to make every effort to pass laws that ain't good for the people.
And speaking of Obama sitting down a quietly accepting his position. I hope you all aren't the fools you are making of yourselves.
Obama has not for one instance decided he's out of the picture. There's two years no, folks. If the new congress next year don't go into the fact finding process and put him out of that office, it could very possibly be a state of emergency declared with the 2012 election close by. Obama teachings have been from Mao, Lenin, Alinsky, et al. Their teaching are alive and well as was demonstrated at the communist gathering "One Nation Working Together" in Washington October 2.
Consider me the idiot you wish, folks. If you want our nation to become a communist nation, just relax, its on its way. If you think a socialist nation is okay, socialism is just around the corner from communism. If you want a dictatorial leader, you got one setting in the White House now. Relax.
At least I'm an old coot and I'm on my way out. I regret what its going to be like for my children and grandchildren and heritage on down the line.
Close by, think of Cuba.
"Consider me the idiot you wish, folks"
We do.
wow.... yogiman. do they actually have the internet out there in the woods? where do you learn this stuff?

that would be because D7 wrote a Letter To the Editor, yogi. and we are all posting "reader's comments". got that?

House, how's your fantasy teams?
I had computer problems last week trying to sign a new WR and forgot about my lineup...I didn't have three players, a TE, RB or WR...and I still won by two points. Weird.
I'm sorry I'm not as brilliant as you dumb asses seen to think you are, but gentlemen (as I use the term loosely) time will tell.
Another little bit of stupid info from that old idiot:
If you, or anyone you know, are using baby carrots for food, consider; those carrots are made out of full size carrots that are 'out of shape'. The are trimmed into carrot size and soaked in chlorine and water(yeah, the chlorine used in your pool). Because they do not have a skin, the soaking will give them a higher dose of chlorine (that ain't good for you). If you leave the carrots in your refrig a few days, you will notice a little white film forming on them. That is the chlorine resurfacing from the inter core of the carrot.
Chlorine is a well known carcinogen, which causes cancer. Cancer ain't good for you. For your valuable information, it isn't a curing solution of a health problem.
Please enjoy your carrots, folks.
sorry yogi. i didn't mean to insult. and thanks for the information on carcinogens causing cancer.
