There's a simple answer to the question posed in the headline “Is it time for Titans to cut loose Vince Young, once and for all?”…yes.

Good morning, Nashville!

There is a glitch at the NCP. Fresh LTE's are not coming up when I click on City Voices, as is normal; all I get when I do that is the old LTE's, not the current one(s). To access the current LTE, I must click on the Archives; then the new LTE comes up, with a bunch of other stuff.

Webmaster, please correct this problem.

Go Bills!

John Galt, where have you been hiding?

Anyone who wants to discuss the WikiLeaks story is welcome to visit my site:

Or we can discuss it here...after we weigh in on the VY and NFL stuff.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/10 at 6:08

Loner: Didn't Bud Adams drop his pants at the last Bills game? Or, was that the one he flipped the bird twice to the fans?
It's hard to keep track of these wild & crazy Titans.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/10 at 6:14

Loner: Since you and I are the only one's up...:
This Austrialian dude has a hard- on against America.
Some, if not most, want him assassinated by the CIA, FBI or Barney Fife.
!st Amendment right's people, say he just expressed them.
As**holes, like Mike Huckabee, want him killed immediately.
Thery're try to find him, in hiding, as he's wanted in Sweden on a faux "rape" charge. Like Roman Polanski.
Next, he's going after Bank of America and then the big pharmas.
I say, hat's off to him for exposing the truth.
The paranoid say, "you can't handle the truth".

Greetings early birds:
It is this poster's hope the Bank of America leaks are as big as
the last ones. Might force the Justice Dept to change their
policy on "Anyone but the Bankers" for a serious criminal
investigation into a large portion of our financial disaster created
by BOA and the entire financial industry. The embarraing loss
in Houston(which I suppose Bud attended) had to hit him in the
gut rather badly. It was Houston's first shutout of an opponent
on their home field since the franchise was started. Ouch!

Hey, Loner. Long time, no post.
Vince will be gone after this year.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/10 at 7:50

Hello Loner.

Who is John. lol

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/10 at 7:54

.Vince Young and the Titans are the lese of our worries.

I like Amy's letter about Alexander.

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 8:50

I was out for a few hours, I'm back in the shack and jammin' the keys.

Hey, we got snow! The Erie Canal is now in the drained mode, my widewaters "lake" is now a mud flat, with a few shallow ponds...freezing ponds. Yesterday's wet snow is now frozen....not quite enough to cross country ski on....a few miles south of here got a foot or so....we got about three or four inches.

Mike Ditka spit on our carpet....repeatedly..Bud Adams' antics are nothing. In Bills country, Ditka was known as "Spitka". Today's Bears look impressive, IMO....Superbowl material, perhaps.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/10 at 9:07

Chicago? Wait 'til this Sunday against the Lions.
I'd say, "Don't hold your breath", but that would be redundant.

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 9:22

Good morning, Darge, House and Captain Nemo and any other readers.

As for 1st Amendment rights, I don't quite see how that might apply to a non-US citizen who leaks classified US documents to the foreign and US media. Seems like a stretch.

Did Tokyo Rose have 1st Amendment rights? Do Bin Laden et al. have 1st Amendment rights? How can any non-US citizen, corporation, group or whatever have any rights under our US Constitution?

Do other foreign democracies give non-citizens equal protection under the law? Methinks not. You gotta draw the line somewhere.

The New York Times may be protected from being forced to reveal its sources; but in this case the source is WkiLeaks. I do not see how WikiLeaks and its crusading whistleblowers are protected by the US Constitution.

Zbigniew Brzezinski has suggested that foreign governments might now be manipulating WikiLeaks, to advance their selfish agendas. Stephen Hadley, on the same TV show, called that idea a "conspiracy theory".

I think old Zbigniew is onto something....that guy is very articulate and very well-read. If governments can do something, they usually will, sooner or later. WikiLeaks is ripe for exploitation in this way....selected leaks may already be the new tools of clandestine statecraft.

Will all this have a chilling effect on honesty and candor? No doubt, at least in the short term. Maybe the threat of possible leakage will force people to be ready to defend their analysis and opinions etc. and that might be a good thing...they'd have to think it through, before stating a position.

If WkiLeaks goes down in flames, something else will supplant it; this is the age of the internet....power to the peephole!

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 9:26

Darge, I say throw the Christians to the Lions and the Bears.....at half-time....the stadium will already be filled with half-drunk fanatics....it's bread and circus, baby.

OK, so we throw in some Muslims and a few Jews too....out of respect to multiculturalism. Whadya think?

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 9:56

Question: What's to prevent a zealot from leaking plans for a relatively low- tech, tactical nuclear weapon, or something of that nature?
Answer: Nuttin' honey.

BTW, Army PFC Bradley Manning - apparently no relation to Eli or Peyton Manning - the now incarcerated WikiLeaker, is apparently gay and "had issues". Funny how that aspect has been all but missing in the reporting. The DADT debate might be re-ignited, if more knew of this.

They say that Manning used a wiped Lady Gaga CD as a data collection bucket. WTF, a Lady Gaga or any other entertainment CD at that highly sensitive installation? That should have set off some kind of alarm in and of itself. Maybe he had a "right" to entertainment?

When I was in signal, you left your entertainment devices back in the barracks...you did not take it into the comcenter, that's for sure. Things have gotten too lax, IMO. Obama, as CINC, needs to crack the frickin' whip!

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 10:05

Check out this guy's take on PFC Manning...surely, he's not alone:

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 10:15

From a conservative website, called the Hot Joints:... "Wikileaks Leaker PFC Manning Is Radical Gay Activist", by Chris Jones on August 9, 2010. Here's the link to this site:

Is the MSM deliberately playing down the gay aspect, so as not to jeopardize the repeal of DADT?

Where is Limbaugh on this one? And FOX News? The Christian Right has networks... I listen to their AM radio broadcasts when driving, I have not heard anything from them on this aspect of the Manning case. Very strange.

By: Loner on 12/2/10 at 10:29

Here's another article from the right hemisphere of the blogosphere, a site calling itself "Gateway Pundit":

Unreal. State-Run Media Suppresses Fact That Wikileaks Traitor Is Radical Gay Activist, Posted by Jim Hoft on Tuesday, August 3, 2010.

Here's the link:

This stuff has been smoldering since August, with these new WikiLeaks revelations, and DADT on the verge of being finally struck down, the timing is perfect.....I'm surprised that the big boys in the right-wing media haven't grabbed this and ran with it.

This Manning-WikiLeaks case has all 4 G's...God, Guns, Gays and Guvmint.....it's gotta fly.

By: brrrrk on 12/2/10 at 10:47

Why is it that this whole WikiLeaks thing (and the rights reaction to it) reminds me of Salman Rushdie?

By: dargent7 on 12/2/10 at 10:49

I just hope he's not assassinated until he exposes the "Bank of Amerka".
And Big Pharmas: Eli Lilly, Fizser.
Anyone notice all the lawyer commercials saying, "If you took Avandia...Vioxx,...Advacor,...call us.
"Did you suffer, stroke, blindness, death"?
We'll sue them blind.

By: AmyLiorate on 12/2/10 at 10:51

Since they updated the website software the other week I've noticed that LTE seem to have their own sequence number in the URL. I think before they were mixed in with all the other article numbers.

Try this to find new LTE:

where "X" is the next number in line.

Miracles of miracles may happen and both Vince Young and Fisher will be back next year..... but I wouldn't count on it. I know one thing though, if Bud Adams acquiesces to VY he will be creating an environment that no decent coach will want to walk into. It would be like a teacher walking into a class full of bullies that just got rid of the substitute teacher. As for Fisher, I suspect that there are a number of teams out there that would love to have him as coach, in spite of all of the Fisher naysayers here in Nashville.

By: house_of_pain on 12/2/10 at 11:12

Shhh, d7...we're starting a project for Phizer in a couple of months.

"pain": The current ads ask for people who died to call immediately.

By: brrrrk on 12/2/10 at 11:30

I'm curious, where were all these WikiLeaks detractors when Valerie Plame was outted?

By: AmyLiorate on 12/2/10 at 12:16

"Where is Limbaugh on this one? And FOX News? The Christian Right has networks... I listen to their AM radio broadcasts when driving, I have not heard anything from them on this aspect of the Manning case. Very strange."

Who cares abotu Limbaugh.

Fox News? I don't know about them, but over on Fox Bussiness you have Judge Napolitano and he's had Assange on his show several times. I think even once since this recent posting.

Judge Nap's take on all this is that if the government is doing things that are illegal then what else would they expect to happen? The proper channels and court system isn't going to allow these things to come out in the open.

Obama said he'd take care of all that Gitmo stuff... but after 2 years we're really not seeing it. So eventually something like this was bound to happen.

The Christian right? I haven't heard anything from them, I don't think Jesus was involved in any of this so who cares.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/10 at 12:39

"AM radio broadcasts while driving..."
That should be against the law. Worse than Texting.
My car doesn't even get AM.

Back to football....

Seems there's more to the Finnegan/Johnson grudge match than meets the eye.

As it turns out, the NFL Network had Johnson "mic'ed up" during the Titans/Texans fun fest. During the recording (and prior to fists flying), Johnson can clearly be heard warning the refs about Finnegan constantly going for his face mask. And then the famous play, which started with this (which was pulled directly from the video of the play).....

Now if you watch the play, it's very clear that Finnegan went directly for Johnson's head. This was no "oops" moment. And if it would have happened anywhere but on the football field it would have been seen as a premeditated act of assault. Don't get me wrong, what Johnson did was wrong, but in light of what lead up to this, one has to ask, what were his alternatives?

By: dargent7 on 12/2/10 at 1:54

brrrk: Johnson looks to be around 300#.
Finnegan is around 200#.
Cortand is nuts.

By: pswindle on 12/2/10 at 2:16

Bye-Bye Vince. You can be replaced.

it's a little after 6 PM EST and I had difficulty finding this thread. It wasn't in the City Voices and not on the the first Archives screen that pops up, as it was this morning....I found it by going to an archives search for Vince Young...something E-goofy is going on here.
