Letter to the Editor

Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 12:04am

A number of years ago, before the roundabout on Wilson Pike and City Center Boulevard in Brentwood was to be constructed, I sat across from the city manager of Brentwood and commented that this roundabout would certainly congest traffic on an avenue that already is congested. His comment was “Good. We want to slow down traffic.”

Roundabouts are simply seen as a means of restricting traffic flow in today’ city planning schemes. They are prettier than traffic signals and intersections and are currently in favor by planners.

Like some of you, [constructing a roundabout with art in SoBro] seems insane — and contrary to what we drivers would like to see. But roundabouts are popular again just like they were some 50 years ago. And just like the designing of the past, roundabouts will be seen as “stupid” in years to come.

Understand that I’m not arguing the beauty, uniqueness, green-ness, etc., of a traffic circle. It just doesn’t make any rational sense for the driving public.

I got excited.

Nemo - You are right! Either the poor thing didn't read the article or didn't understand what he read. My guess, the latter!

What did she mean when Mrs. Obama made a statement in a lecture to a women's group about them going to Africa to visit his homeland of Kenya?
.................................................................

I visited my homeland of England once. However I was born in Tennessee.

I wonder why Obama and his family visited his homeland in Hawaii.

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 9:44

I agree, gdiafante,

We don't need children in here today. Go play in the back yard or maybe go on down to the swimming hole in the creek and have fun.

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 9:48

serr8d,

you mentioned checking NCP, NYT, Foxm Drudge and some other sites. Have you checked WND out?

Fox was good until they sold so much control out to Saudi Arabia. Have you noticed where Bill O'Rielly and Glen Beck have changed their attitude about Obama recently?

Captain Nemo, you mentioned my being a resident of Gordonsville and people at the HESS station called me the the "Village idiot". It's funny, of the many LTEs I have written to the Carthage Courier I have never received a negative comment on any of them, only positive complements.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

So you write to yourself. It just goes to show how a half wit you are. lol

yogi comeback, that must of hurt. lol

This is a valid birth certificate, the government accepts this for a passport or any other purpose.
The Republican governor and Secretary of State of Hawai'i have certfied that the President was born in the state of Hawai'i, unlike John McCain who was born in a foreign country(Panama)

http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/obamabirth.php
This is a birth announcement from TWO local newspapers.

Enjoy your Kool-Aid

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 9:53

I got to go.

See you later.

BTW please squeal some more butter knife. lol

By: Loner on 12/29/10 at 9:56

Well, well....Serr8d recently called this place a "sandbox"....now this returning tomcat is using the place as his litter box. To make matters worse, Captain Nemo is scooping it up and flinging it around..... GD heads for cover. Not a bad idea.

I like House's idea of planting a huge mulberry bush in the center of the new roundabout....monkeys will be chasing weasels there 24/7.....every so often, a loud "POP" will let the locals know that another jack is in the box.....weasels get drunk and then sit on a stump...'twas ever thus. Crank that baby!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 9:57

Kosh-

This is too much for a half wit to understand. Given him head ache. That is a head hurt, hurt yogi. lol

I'm a blogger, Yogi, so yes, I know of WND, and don't favor it so much. I prefer American Thinker...

There's plenty to laugh at there.

I just put up a post about Michael Vick, and his role in ending the cock-and-dog-fighting culture. Check it out if you like.

Hey, Loner, this is 'quiet week' for me, so sure, why not come to the original Land of Flinging Poo Monkeys and toss a bit about?

I guess I'm slumming. Shame on me~!

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 10:20

Kosh III,

I couldn't get the site you recommended. I presume you were mentioning the "Certification of Live Birth" that was shown on internet. Did you read the thing? It only shows his date and time of birth, his mother's maiden name and her race as Caucasian and his father's name and his race as African. When did African become a race? I was taught it was a Continent. My birth certificate shows my race as Caucasian, not American, of North American.

And to those of you who think I am a racist because Obama is "supposedly" the first black president of our nation. Why is he considered the first black president? Why wasn't he considered the 44th white president? His only first factor is he is the first Mulatto to sit in that office but I cannot call him my president until he proves he is.

As for considering me a racist because Obama is considered to be a black man, I went in the Navy in January 1948, the beginning of President Truman's executive order integrating the military. Guess what? There was never any conflicts in any assignment I had while in the service until my discharge in December 1955. And yes, it was an honorable discharge. You can check my records; And I'll prove I was old enough to join when I did. Some of the best 'buddies' I had in service were black men. Ain't it funny, we all seemed to get along just fine.

By: Loner on 12/29/10 at 10:33

As you wish, Serr8d.

Actually, I prefer snapping a towel to flinging poo.

Just for shitz & giggles.....consider this: Rep. Barney Frank recently headed up an effort to get Jonathan Pollard released from prison. 39 US Reps signed that letter to the President.

Here's the URL, (it might load relatively slowly):

http://www.jonathanpollard.org/2010/111810a.htm

Pollard became an Israeli citizen while in prison.

The Israelis re-named a square in Jerusalem after this perfidious American traitor. No doubt, Pollard will get a hero's welcome, fame, fortune etc. when he returns to his "ancient homeland", to claim his "birthright" and his rewards for spying so effectively for the Israelis.

PM Netanyahu is now personally pressuring Obama to free Pollard. This is not a big story here, but it's a big story in Israel. I expect Obama to cave and grant clemency.

PM Netanyahu has de-legitimizedPres. Obama as an honest broker and Obama still doesn't see that. What a putz...or is he actually a schmuck?

By: serr8d on 12/29/10 at 10:48

Towel-snappin' Loner! There's a moniker you can carry into the showers with Rham Emmanuel, at least back when he was BHO's number one go-to Chicago thug.

Oh, my, Israel. How did I know THAT subject was coming up? The evil JOOOOOOOOOOOOOS~!

Sorry, Loner, I won't take the bait. FWIW, I stand with Israel, and will, for as long as she's surrounded by people who would rather strap on bombs and walk into schools, and shoot unguided rockets into cities, and have the support of the United Nations (nothing but a den of thieves, that).

You can align with a religion that was written by a warrior for the express purpose of conquering large areas of sand and for subduing young girls and non-consensual goats, but not me.

By: Kosh III on 12/29/10 at 11:09

yogi, that is all it has to show to be valid. The race is whatever the parents say. Would you have preferred to say he was British? Kenya was still a crown colony IIRC.

are you saying the governor and Secretary of State of Hawai'i were wrong when they both certified his birth in the US State of Hawai'i.

By: Loner on 12/29/10 at 11:32

Thank you, Serr8d for that impassioned shilling for the Jewish theocracy in Palestine....that faith-based, race-based colonial enterprise....that apartheid pariah state....that rogue, nuclear-armed state....the state that suffers from pervasive PTSD at the highest level of governance.

You, sir, are primed and ready for eternal holy war...to make the world safe for Apartheid Zionism in Palestine, Our Founding Fathers would be quite confounded to witness this kind passionate loyalty, coming from an American, in counter-productive support for a theocratic state outside our union of secular states.

The Kool-aid drinking metaphor falls short in your case, Serr, you have gone beyond drinking the Kosher Kool-aid, you are now snorting lines of it....soon, you'll be mainlining the stuff.

I hate to see a good American patriot go down into the gutter of utter dependency. You are hooked on that sweet, tangy powder, Serr....you need rehab, brother.

Of the 39 signers of that Pollard letter, 9 are sitting members of the 46-member US House Foreign Affairs Committee and their love, if not their allegiance, to the state of Israel is very clear. They would free Pollard so that he can reap the rewards for his treachery.

According to my count, no state within our union of states has as many as nine members sitting on the US House Foreign Affairs Committee. I find this situation to be rather disturbing.

Still, shills for Israel, like Serr8d, claim that Helen Thomas' claims - of Zionist control over the US Congress - are nothing more than the wild machinations of a deranged, elderly, anti-Semite.

By: Kosh III on 12/29/10 at 12:07

" claim that Helen Thomas' claims - of Zionist control over the US Congress - are nothing more than the wild machinations of a deranged, elderly, anti-Semite."

C'mon loner, must I always finish your sentences?

deranged, elderly, anti-Semite (whose parents were Arab immigrants)

LOL

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 12:21

Kosh III,

I can only presume you are a pro-Obama advocate.

I'm not questioning whether he was born in Hawaii, I'm questioning him being a "natural born" American citizen. And you can bet your ass if he is, he would have shown those papers long before spending millions to keep them under lock.

May I repeat another question: Why did the Senate question John McCain about his legality but they didn't question Barack Obama, or is that Barry Soetoro?

If you think that "Certification of Live Birth" is all that needs to be shown to become president of this nation, I must sympathize with you.

How can a man with a Kenyan father and an American mother become president (under the 1961 laws and her age)? She could not give him automatic citizenship back then. The best he could have gotten would have been dual-citizenship.

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 12:35

serr8d,

I agree with you on your feelings toward Israel.

I can't remember which war it was, but I remember reading in history about a Jew financed the US in that war. He didn't ask for any confirmation but they identified Israel on our money somewhere. Sorry, I can't remember all the details, but yes, Israel has been a friend of the USA.

Now, all things considered; hasn't the world changed every year since its development? Do you not have enemies now that was once your friends? Do you not have fiends not that you once though to be your enemy? If you say no, you are in that "few and far between" category.

By: Loner on 12/29/10 at 12:48

Kosh, are you implying that children of immigrant Arabs are naturally deranged anti-Semites...Helen Thomas is no exception? That's the kind of racial stereotyping that preceded the Holocaust in Europe. The former victims are now the perps? Holy Wars Suck.

Sadly, .Helen Thomas stated the truth; Zionists do control the WH, Congress, Wall Street and Hollywood. That statement should alarm no one.

The word "Zionist" is not the equivalent of the "N-word", the term is not a pejorative, or an ethnic slur. Look it up.

Zionists are people of any faith or ethnicity who support the idea of a Jewish State in Palestine, and that a return to Israel is the Divinely-granted birthright of every Jew on this planet.

Most Americans are Zionists, of course they control things here in the USA....So, where is the lie? Where is the slur?

Ms. Thomas was treated in a most shabby fashion, IMO.

By: Loner on 12/29/10 at 12:58

Yogi, you served in the US Navy. Have you forgotten the prolonged air and sea attack on the USS Liberty on June8, 1967?

Our "ally", Israel, killed 34 US sailors in the attack, dozens were seriously wounded. The Israelis came in waves, they sank Liberty's lifeboats...the ship refused to go down.

It was never a case of mistaken identity. I know, because I had coffee and conversation with one of the survivors....the Israelis meant to kill them all and sink the ship.

LBJ quickly forgave the bastards. Reagan officially put the matter to eternal rest.

Google the incident yourself, Yogi...and beware of attempts at a whitewash of the facts.

The IDF has never joined us, as allies on the field of battle...except to attack us on the high seas. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Kosh III,
I'm not questioning whether he was born in Hawaii, I'm questioning him being a "natural born" American citizen.
_________________________________________________________________

This must be coming from two different brains or two half brains. Hawaii is apart of the US aka America. Anyone born in the 50 State a Natural Born American.

By: dargent7 on 12/29/10 at 1:48

My God, "yogi", give it up.
I don't care if you have only one hemisphere, two hemispheres, or are technically a Chrysler "Hemi".
Between the two candidates, in 2008, McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone.
That ain't America. I don't care if the was a War Powers Act that made him a US citizen. Panama ain't America.
Hawai'i became the 50th state in 1958. Legally a state.
Obama was born in 1961. I acknowlege it was close, but like horseshoes, adultery, and extra-marital sex, was close enough.
Vote for Palin in 2012. I mean, she served 50% of her term. Right? Close enough.

By: judyboodo@yahoo.com on 12/29/10 at 2:05

@Kosh " The country you served while in the Navy is no longer recognizable."
Yep, and busing completely destroyed not only the public school system but also the "colored" neighborhoods and way of life as well. The white man under the disguise of "helping" has done more to hurt the minorities than almost anything I can think of. Liberals, under the banner of helping their fellow man can't seem to get it through their heads that giving someone a lot for a long enough time will cause them to consider the gifts a right and eventually make them lose the initiative to achieve for themselves. This is not new oratory but it's true.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 2:17

Is that a booboo or just right down silly?

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 2:33

Nemo - NO! Judy is right. And, yes bussing has and still is destroying public schools.

By: gdiafante on 12/29/10 at 2:46

Busing doesn't make kids fail math or hire unqualified teachers. What an absurd idea.

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 2:55

g - Any child that rides a bus for up to 45. min to 1 hr., is not as mentally alert and ready to start a full day of study, as related to traveling a short, pleasant distance to school.

Plus, if your soooooooooo intelligent & articulate Karl (as you referred to him), put as much time & money into education, as he does building his ego boosting shrines, there could be more qualified teachers & schools FULLY supplied with what they need.

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 2:57

I have been laughing at that gullible phrase (intelligent & articulate Karl) for 2 days now!

By: gdiafante on 12/29/10 at 3:02

Ok, so by your logic, all students that ride the bus should fail the first class of the day. So what about all the others? Do you think they are "mentally alert" by 10? 11? I guess everyone fails the class after lunch...

What a crock.

Don't include me in your Karl fetish. That's between you and he.

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 3:04

Captain Nemo,

Haven't you ever read the Constitution. when you state "anyone born in the 50 State is a Natural Born American." Are assuming any of these children being born to these illegal aliens are qualified to become president of the USA?

May I suggest you read Article II, Section 1, Paragraph 5 of the Constitution? There is more than just being born in this country that makes you a 'natural born' citizen. Maybe you should do a little research... if you have the time.

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 3:11

g - Just repeating your praise of Karl under topic about same. Please explain how he is articulate, except for squandering taxpayer's money, for his own monuments. This should be good!

Do you not know any school bus drivers? Just what goes on & the language is enough to upset a lot of children, for more than 1 day. There should be an adult supervisor on every bus, with the bus driver. But then that would take money away from Karl's wants. Do you have any children in school? If so, what grades?

By: yogiman on 12/29/10 at 3:15

dargent7,

Panama was a US Possession when McCain was born there. His father was serving in the Navy there and his mother was there with his father. All perfectly legal. It was, however, debated if he should be considered a "natural born" because in wasn't on the homeland soil of the USA. As I'm sure you know, Congress determined it was "Okay". I personally think it is still questionable. And I personally thought at the time, and still do, with Obama and McCain you have six of one and half a dozen of the other. Did the best or the worst win?

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 3:16

yogi - Maybe you should do a little research... if you have the time.
=========================

By all means, you do that! It might keep your foot out of your mouth for a while.

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 3:24

If by some miracle, a supervisor was put on the school buses, they should have the authority to kick a**, when warranted!

By: Kosh III on 12/29/10 at 3:34

Loner,

I was unsuccessfully making the point of how one could accuse Thomas of anti-semitism when she herself is a Semite?

Yogi
Answer my point about the governor and secretary. Are they liars?

Captain Nemo,

*****************************************************************

What side of that dim half brain of yours did you come up with this? We are talking about Obama not illegal aliens.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 3:43

If there had not been any apartheid in America, there would have not been for the need of Busing.

By: Kosh III on 12/29/10 at 3:52

Yes.
A child of an undocumented alien can become President if that child is born in a state.
Locationlocationlocation!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 4:03

Article II Section I Paragraph %
No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Obama was born in Hawaii USA and was 35 at the time that he was elected to the Office of President of the United States of America.

On the other hand yogi of the half wits has no brains and there for is not human.

You have just sent an arrow through yogi’s heart. To bad he won’t know it. lol

Nemo - Neighborhoods are intergrated, now. Why continue the bussing?

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 4:15

g - BTW, the fetish about Karl seems to be on your agenda, per your praise, not mine.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 4:20

Hello bfra. How are you doing on this cold rainy day?

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 4:22

Just staying warm & dry! lol

Thanks for asking

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 4:23

Sorry I missed this bfra.

There is movement to do that bfra, but I don’t think that there has been any evidence that shows that we would not fall back to the old ways if not for busing.

By: bfra on 12/29/10 at 4:26

Nemo - I think if someone ask g, is this black or white, he would say "gray"! LOL

By: Captain Nemo on 12/29/10 at 4:32

My youngest daughter has been raised in an environment where she has been exposed to a diverse society. She spent her per school days in a Y day care and has not been subject to the fears that I was raised under.

She now lives in an area of Virginia that is mostly white. She hears a lot of things that does not make any sense to her. There is very little exposure to the rest of the world.
