Letter to the Editor

[Belmont University President] Bob Fisher has shown a real lack of leadership throughout this incident over the last two months. In fact, he's shown a sort of spinelessness that has diminished his standing in this community.

And his comments about Belmont's board being "my board" show he's really detached from reality. They are not his board. He is their president, hired and retained at their discretion.

This snippet from that JPost article is too good not to include here:

The purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews, according to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the head of Shas’s Council of Torah Sages and a senior Sephardi adjudicator.

“Goyim were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel,” he said in his weekly Saturday night sermon on the laws regarding the actions non-Jews are permitted to perform on Shabbat.

According to Yosef, the lives of non-Jews in Israel are safeguarded by divinity, to prevent losses to Jews.

“In Israel, death has no dominion over them... With gentiles, it will be like any person – they need to die, but [God] will give them longevity. Why? Imagine that one’s donkey would die, they’d lose their money.

This is his servant... That’s why he gets a long life, to work well for this Jew,” Yosef said.

“Why are gentiles needed? They will work, they will plow, they will reap. We will sit like an effendi and eat.

That is why gentiles were created,” he added.

...........OK then, is everyone clear on their purpose and their "place"?

By: gdiafante on 1/27/11 at 10:43

How exactly did a post about Belmont's President turn into a rant against Israel?

Oh, Loner's here...nevermind.

By: dargent7 on 1/27/11 at 10:48

You do not understand American society.
It's citizens need, want, and adhere to "leaders".
And Jesus is their leader.
I do not know how or why you've lost your way, but between listening to your diatrabes on Israel, Zionism, Jews, and Palestine and listening to Handel's Messiah in St. Grace's Cathedral, San Francisco, CA, it isn't even close which is more spiritually uplifting.
Why deny "the masses" spiritual uplifting? Where else are they going to get sustenance and "uplifting"? From Washington and our elected leaders?

By: house_of_pain on 1/27/11 at 10:51

"Where else are they going to get sustenance and "uplifting"?"

From a trebuchet on the other side of the Mexican border?

There is a commercial on right now for an online Christian dating service.
ChristianMingle.com, I sh*t you not.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 10:58

Let me clarify it for you, Gd...this discussion is all about the role of faith in human behavior. Yes, the subject meanders a bit, as one might expect.

I made my comments and then Drgent7 responded; i responded to D7's response.

Darge claimed that he did not know that Jews consider Christianity to be idolatry; I educated him and the board on that point. Since Christianity is heretical Judaism practiced by gentile goyim, I thought it appropriate to cite Rabbi Yosef's position on all that.

Here are the 2 posts that I responded to.

By: dargent7 on 1/27/11 at 7:03

I'm quite shocked you (Loner) do not understand the central tenents of Christianity. Jesus WAS/ IS God, incarnate.
I could go on and on, but I can tell when I'm talking to a wall.

By: dargent7 on 1/27/11 at 7:59

Anti-S: Because he's said he was raised Catholic.
Worshipping Jesus is idolatry?
I've heard it all with that comment.

No, the anti-Semite charge falls flat, Gd...I'm not anti-Semitic, but I will not be anyone's "donkey"....that includes our Zionist overlords. You may assume the position...I will not.

Shalom!

"By: dargent7 on 1/27/11 at 10:48 You do not understand American society. etc."

YOU talkin' to ME?

By: gdiafante on 1/27/11 at 11:02

You keep believing that Loner.

By: slacker on 1/27/11 at 11:03

Darge, I agree with you. I'm not a religious person, but I know Christians, many in my family, that get comfort, and hope, from their faith. I wish them well. The non-muslim women's rights groups in the U.S., that are fervently supporting the rights of Islam in this country, will eventually be attacking the Muslims for the way they treat their women.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 11:04

Trebuchet-based uplifting....I like that, House..... I t'ank Jah for de 'erb....really I do.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 11:07

And you are free to believe your delusions, Gdiafante. Self-bullshitization is a coping mechanism.

Cope.

By: gdiafante on 1/27/11 at 11:08

I saw that the other day, house. It was only a matter of time.

Can't you just read the correspondence...

"what are you doing right now"
"I'm praising God..."
"Oh yeah..."

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 11:11

Gd digs the donkey gig...only 7 rules and he gets into the afterlife...where he can continue to serve the Chosen People, who must work so much harder than goyim to get there. Jews will certainly rank higher than goyim in the afterlife - by a factor of 613 to 7. Isn't that so very special?

By: house_of_pain on 1/27/11 at 11:12

lol, gd.

By: gdiafante on 1/27/11 at 11:13

Delusion? Hardly. Observation.

"Self-bullshitization is a coping mechanism."

Whatever gets you through the night, my friend.

By: house_of_pain on 1/27/11 at 11:16

"My congregation, or yours?"

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 11:17

Dittos, my deluded friend. It's not your fault...48 years of Israeli propaganda has taken its toll on the republic. The Israelis earmark a portion of their generous US aid for public relations work...that keeps the Holocaust Guilt cash flowing at ever-increasing rates. Brilliant.....of course.

By: slacker on 1/27/11 at 11:17

Thanks pain. I'm logging on now.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 11:18

SHB 62 years of Israeli propaganda...the 48 figure is the year that Israel displaced and ethnically cleansed Palestine - 1948....my bad.

Darge, I agree with you. I'm not a religious person, but I know Christians, many in my family, that get comfort, and hope, from their faith.

So is this your pro-religion argument slacker?

Basically, that some people are happier because they have religion, so it logically follows that it is a good thing.

By: dargent7 on 1/27/11 at 12:33

I cannot believe I'm having this argument in Nashville, Tennessee.
Loner turns everything into a Zionist/ Israel/ Palestine situation and over the past two years I really have no idea what he's talking about. And don't care.
Science could find the cure for cancer and he'd say it was anti-Semetic.
The USA deciding to invade Iraq in 1991 and again in 2003 is more relevant to me.
And I could care less what the Muslims or Jews think, feel, and act about Jesus Christ.
I am neither a "Jesus Freak" or a convert from Catholicism to Hinduism.
I do not think I have an automatic e-train ride to Heaven. I've already seen Heaven: Maui, Hawai'i.
I cannot believe there's not more outrage from this board on what Loner is discussing.
Everyone is either hiding, afraid, confused as to their commitment to Christianity, Jesus Christ, and the Bible.
Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go hug a tree and talk with the squirrels.
Or swim with the fishes.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 12:48

I got yer outrage, D7.....right here.

Of course you don't care about the "Zionist/ Israel/ Palestine situation", Darge...that's how donkeys are supposed to act...just carry the water, don't ask why....sadly, there are millions of useful idiots for Zionism in this country....you apartheid Israel-lovers are in the majority, the vast majority. it's a fear-based thing.

You'll get a fitting heavenly reward....there are stables in heaven for good little goyim...you may end up in a Jewish petting zoo in the hereafter.

Hee-Haw!

By: Antisocialite on 1/27/11 at 12:52

I cannot believe there's not more outrage from this board on what Loner is discussing. Everyone is either hiding, afraid, confused as to their commitment to Christianity, Jesus Christ, and the Bible.

Are you outraged by what he is discussing dargent7?

I will admit that some of it seems out of place, and sometimes Loner can get a bit hyperbolic, but don't accuse people of hiding or being afraid.

I largely agree with the content of Loner's rants on Israel, and given the City Paper's haphazard LTE system coherent threads are going to be a rarity, so until I find something I want to comment on I generally don't... it has nothing to do with being afraid, intimidated or confused, only apathetic.

However, if you would like to get into an Israeli/Palestinian debate I am all for it, it happens to be one of the areas that I find myself debating with other 'liberals' a lot, and I like to do that.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 12:53

BTW, it's "anti-Semitic", not "anti-Semetic" One term refers to hatred of Jews, the other represents hatred of semen?

If you are going to attack me, Darge, do it with class, please. Your are a 5-star writer, act like it.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 1:06

Hyperbole in the cause of freedom and American sovereignty is not a vice....could be a virtue.

I am quite sure that the American Founders would not go along with establishing the Jewish State with US taxpayer dollars and then giving that race-based theocracy full US representation with zero US taxation...no, I don't think George Washington and the boys would submit to a higher authority based in Jerusalem, or anywhere.

Don't believe Helen Thomas about Zionists running the US Congress? Check this fresh JPost article, headlined: "US may make UN funds conditional on Israel's treatment", by HILARY LEILA KRIEGER.

http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=205234

De facto Israeli agents control the US House Foreign Affairs Committee...and still, guys like Darge simply do not care about that. He's mesmerized by Holy Scripture.

By: brrrrk on 1/27/11 at 1:09

Loner said

"and still, guys like Darge simply do not care about that. He's mesmerized by Holy Scripture."

I'm starting to believe that Darge is simply just a slightly higher form of yogi. :-)

By: gdiafante on 1/27/11 at 1:13

I have to agree with Darge. Loner can find a Zionist conspiracy under any rock. I'm not sure why more people don't call him on it.

Personally, I care as much about Israel/Palestine as much as I do about an online Christian dating service. But the latter is infinitely more fun to discuss.

I'd go so far as to say that Loner's anti-Israel rants and yogi's birther obsession are equally annoying.

Feel free to criticize my spelling/grammar instead of the main theme.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 1:14

Somebody scrambled Darge's personality lately...he's gone Jesus freak and Zionist foot soldier...I suspect that he's the victim of a bar-room evangelist working an alcohol-related ministry...he does claim to be a working bartender. I wish I knew which bar that is...I'm considering coming to Nashville soon...don't want a sermon with my drink.

By: Loner on 1/27/11 at 1:18

Aw, our poo-pooing Semper Fi dude is also a Zionist recruiting possibility...make Aliyah you friggin' donkeys. It's your destiny. Oy!

Since I am boring the shit out of you beasts of burden, I'll just sign off for now...please, enjoy and reinforce each other's stupidity.

See ya!

What's all this Zionist/ Israeli stuff?
Loner: I do not absorb myself in whatever the hell you're talking about.
The "Today's Clip of the Day", was about homosexuality and Belmont's acceptance of it, ie., a code of conduct, ie, discrimination/ sexual orientation.
I've got enough on my hands at the other paper about the 20 year war in the Middle East, Mosques being built in Nashville, Muslims, guns in bars, Obama's a Marxist and was born in Kenya, and school closings because it's cold outside.
I really never understood your rants.

Thats just to get you back to your car, which has probably been stolen or keyed.

By: bfra on 1/27/11 at 3:11

Loner has a lot of interesting input, but I do get tired of the Israel rants. However, don't compare him, even near, yogi, Loner bases his info on facts. Yogi's are rumors, nightmares, maybe just senile rants, NO facts, NO proof.

By: dargent7 on 1/27/11 at 4:15

bfra: But, the topic was Bemont's stance on homosexual equality.
How relevant is the Israeli/ Palestine/ Zionism to the discussion and weigh in?

By: bfra on 1/27/11 at 4:34

I agree d7, but the subject gets changed often, everyday. Just giving my take on comparing Loner to yogi, mainly.

My comment on the Belmont issue, that woman got her moneys worth in publicity for the gays!
