Dangerous litigations

President Barack Obama most assuredly wants to appoint some person to the Supreme Court who shows empathy or sympathy to litigants who come before the Court. I believe most any good American has both of these fine traits in their system.

However, not just any good American can, or should, be on the Supreme Court if their legal decisions are based on these two traits. After all, this great country called the United States of America is based on laws and not pre-perceived sympathy or empathy for certain individuals or groups.

Lady Justice is a statute found in just about every courtroom in America. It is depicted wearing a blindfold. This is done in order to indicate that justice should be handed out objectively, without fear or favor, regardless of identity, person or weakness. In other words, blind impartiality and blind justice.

Mr. Obama, in his writings and his voting record in Congress has already shown that he will insist on an appointee who has the capacity to understand others and decide cases based on his or her sympathetic understanding of a litigant, not their understanding of the Constitution. This is dangerous.

brrrrk, I did read that article about the GW terminology being changed.
''enhanced interrogation'' should be referred to as ''the hard way''.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 10:48

Blanket,

What I found interesting is, the article didn't say WHERE the moderates and liberals that left the conservative party went to. Did they go to the Democratic party? If so, did the Democratic party increase proportionately?

I didn't see that in the articles.

Food for thought.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 10:50

Blanket,

Considering that Jesus is in the Koran, the Torah AND the Bible, I suspect a majority of the religious people in the world will disagree with this one.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 10:55

Thanks for the links, Blanket. Both are interesting.

By: gdiafante on 5/19/09 at 10:55

"...most Old Republicans have grandchildren to play with because they didn't abort their child."

As opposed to everyone else who obviously have aborted a child. You're post wins "dumbass of the day". Congratulations.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 10:57

Gdia,

Hey, if the shoe fits...!

By: gdiafante on 5/19/09 at 10:58

Yes, that moniker fits your post. Glad you agree.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 10:59

Gdia,

Whatever. I didn't bring up kids...he did.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 11:01

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:43
Nemo,

Really?

Bush - governor of Texas from 1994 - 2000
Reagan - governor of California 1966-1974
Clinton - governor of Arkansas 1978 - 1982 1986 - 1992
Truman - Senater from 1934 - 1944 became Roosevelts VP ran for office in 1948
and won
Nixon - elected as Representative in 1946 Ike's VP from 1953 - 1961

Now let's look at President Obama's experience:

Obama - 3 terms as State Senator 1997 - 2004 2006 - 2008 US senator

Seems to me the ones you chose had a lot more experience in the executive branch or in the US government...particularly when you figure that President Obama started campaigning in 2007.

You can find all of this but you can't find Republican Sex Scandals?

You do have a hard time dealing with reallity.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:02

Nemo,

Hardly...I just think it's irrelevant. Scandals are on BOTH sides.

By: gdiafante on 5/19/09 at 11:03

That doesn't change the stupidity of your post, Chief. But I agree, whatever.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:04

Gdia,

I personally think both posts were stupid...the difference was, I was making a joke. Apparently, it flopped.

By: gdiafante on 5/19/09 at 11:06

So you like to joke about abortion? Yes, a flop indeed.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,520632,00.html

Damn athiest Scientists...

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 11:06

It always is irrelevant when it does not go your way.

True there are scandles on both side, but the Republicans seem to go for same sex or chlidren.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:08

Gdia,

I figured a joke about abortion was about as appropriate as the statement all Republicans were child molesters.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:09

Nemo,

Not really...but I believe most of those were thrown out of the party and prosecuted. Can you say the same about the DNC?

By: gdiafante on 5/19/09 at 11:10

So, instead of taking the high road and acting like an adult, you instead revert to a five-year old. Got it.

But it is amusing to read you and Nemo having a pissing contest about who's side is more perverted. Quality stuff.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:13

Gdia,

I'm saying BOTH sides are preverted.

Bottom line is, there are darn few politicians I'd let in the door of my house, much less stay in the same room as my son or daughter, PERIOD.

You think child molesting is funny? Sad!

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:16

Nemo,

No, I don't...any more than I think Abortion is funny. I think you're funny in that you think the Republicans are so very bad when both side are pretty lousy, IMO.

Yet you vote for and defend the Republicans Child Molesters. Sad!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:19

chief, of course the majority of religious people would disagree. just like the majority of kindergardeners would disagree about Santa not being real.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:21

btw, chief - you do know that the jesus myth is in other religions too, just called by a different name but the very same story none the less? even native americans have a jesus myth.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 11:23

Republican Scandals Dwarf that of the Democrats.

The Dem Scandals have been with prople of the same sex and leagal age.

chief, Sad!

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:24

Blanket,

And how do you know it's a myth and not real? It would seem to me the more people of different areas talk about Him, the more likely it is he actually lived.

By: slacker on 5/19/09 at 11:24

ok nazi, I'll bite. What is the indian myth story?

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:25

Nemo,

And you support those who support Abortions.

Whatever, Nemo.

You're going to think whatever you want so go ahead. Won't bother me...I'll still support whomever I want to.

I must say, the republican perverts tend to dress better than the democrat perverts.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:28

Slacker,

Didn't you know? It's all that ill-gotten gain from all that nasty capitalism they use so effectively against the poor.

By: house_of_pain on 5/19/09 at 11:28

Jesus did save Santa from the terrorists. They were shocking Santa's b@ll$.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 11:29

Mithra and Christ. I find this to very interseting.

Look it up chief. I wonder if you will find this?

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:30

Nemo,

Not interested in looking it up thanks.

Here you go, slacker. Google Quetzalcoatl for more.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:32

not interested in reading the other side although you want people to accept your spirituality? interesting.

By: slacker on 5/19/09 at 11:33

pain, Santa likes it, also loves sliding down those chimneys real fast.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:34

Mithra is a much older legend than Jesus. The parallels are quite intriguing.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 11:34

Mithra

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:34

Blanket,

I'm not asking anyone to accept my spirituality....just getting bored with Nemo. It's like dealing with a 4 year old who won't stop whining until they get their way.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:36

Blanket,

My spirituality is mine. You have your own. I simply made the statement that the more people who say they saw Him, the more likely he actually existed.

I don't expect to convert anyone here. Simply making a logical statement.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:37

aren't you at least curious, chief?

I did not think you had it in you to venture from your safe place.

LOL

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:38

slacker, i always worried about santa wanting little girls to sit on his lap.....

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:41

Blanket,

Ok...I looked up the URL you gave and did a search on Jesus. Still not sure why they make such a comparison but it is in the text.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/19/09 at 11:41

Blanket...I never thought about that.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:42

about what, Nemo? santa being a perv? lol!

By: slacker on 5/19/09 at 11:43

nazi, you don't want to know about the elves, it ain't pretty.

By: house_of_pain on 5/19/09 at 11:43

Little boys sit on his lap, too.

By: chiefpayne568 on 5/19/09 at 11:44

Blanket,

I guess your parents taught you to be wary around strangers. Good for them, but it's sad in a way too.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/19/09 at 11:44

you see, what i don't understand is people like Ben will say that you can't take the Bible literally yet they think Jesus is something more than a myth or parable. just pick a side - is it literal or not? chances are, not. which is fine. it still gives one moral parables to live by. just admit that it's a myth already!
