Alcohol is the trigger

I really don't understand the views of some Nashville bar owners. They are worried about handgun carry permit holders coming into bars. They should be worried about the people that bring guns in without permits.

Believe me, it happens every day! Do they really think that these people won't bring in their guns in the bar, regardless of signs and laws, they don' care. There hasn't been a permit holder involved in a shooting in a bar at all. The same can't be said for non-permit holders.

I owned a Sports Bar for 15 years, and know from experience the sign we had posted, “State Law says $2,500 fine for persons bringing weapons into bar where alcohol is served,” did not work back then, nor will it now! The only ones who will abide are the permit holders.

If bar owners were really concerned with the safety in our [establishments] they should be held responsible for “over serving” alcohol to customers.

Kenneth Borgman, 37210

good morning.

For 15 years Kenneth Borgman owned a Sports Bar and knew that people were breaking the law by bring guns into his bar.

I wonder how many people he let leave his bar to drunk to drive?

Verbak Cartoon

On July the 2nd

A breaded man wearing a black rob sits at table looking into his crystal ball and see the future.

The Great slackerdamus then raises he head and announces to the audiences,"Sara Palin will be elected as Governoe of Alaska for a second term."

By: dargent7 on 7/6/09 at 5:19

Bar/ restaurant owners are held responsible for "over serving" customers, called "dram shop" law. So is the bartender/ waiter and waitress. It's a very long food chain of lawsuits if the patron gets into an accident on the way to another bar or home.

By: dargent7 on 7/6/09 at 5:23

Cpt. N: Nothing made my 4th happier than hearing the news Palin was quitting.
Her news conference sounded like she was on the same stuff Michael Jackson was taking. If this bobble headed, red lipstick wearing Barbie doll is "strategically" planning a run for the White House in 2012.....just couldn't be!

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 5:38

What is a Verbak?

By: house_of_pain on 7/6/09 at 5:46

Verbac is used to kill parasites in animals.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 6:00

house, That is good to know. But what is a Verbak?

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 6:17

Verbal Cartoon

100 days after being sworn as President of the Untied States, Sara Palin annouces that she is stepping down as President.

"I feel that I can serve my country more from being on the outside."

By: house_of_pain on 7/6/09 at 6:29

Dunno, Nemo. Never heard of Verbak.
Maybe it's actually 2 words: Verb AK(Alaska).
Possible meaning: to do something in Alaska. Like quit your job, for instance.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 6:45

Verbal Cartoon

Standing over a dead moose, Joe the Moose Hunter says, "I will be Sara's campaign manager in her campaign to free Alaskans from the lowere 48."

By: idgaf on 7/6/09 at 7:38

It was a good move for her and she will use it to her advantage . She saved her state money and disruption.

Her honor and sense of right will unite the masses against the good old boys.

That is why she scares the _rap out of both sides.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 7:44

Palin saved her state the cost of an impeachment.

By: dargent7 on 7/6/09 at 7:55

How anyone can Sarah Palin "scares the crap" out of both sides is astounding ignorance. She's perfectly suited to be mayor of Wasilla and Gov. of Alaska. Populations that make Tennesseans look absoutely brilliant in contrast.
All of her views and statements were backwoods mentality. The fact she can shoot a moose from a helicopter, and skin it still breathing, and offer $150. for a wolf's right front paw doesn't play in New York, Chicago, L.A. or even among Michael Vick's dog fighting friends.
Teaching "creation" only, labeling Darwin a heretic, and the added bonus of her unmarried daughter having sex at 16, getting pregnant, all the while preaching, "Just Say No" to sex was a laughable joke. The alive people in America who vote are afraid of that?

I thought this column was about Guns, not Palin. Anyway! Speaking of guns, the restaurants can now stop dividing up between smokers and non-smokers. They can divide the restaurant up as: Gun Carrying and non-gun carrying. I bet the criminals will sit in non-gun carrying! Huh-huh! Betcha! They're carrying as I type this.

So Capt Nemo you can provide proof that an impeachment
was forth coming

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 8:04

That does not matter for id. He is love with Sara and nothing you say will change his below the belt mentality.

When Obama's financial experts missed their estimates that badly, I fear they will not accurately predict the "unintended consequences" of their healthcare reform or their cap-and-trade, both of which will be huge burdens to the economy.

By: gdiafante on 7/6/09 at 8:24

Chief, that's old news...been there done that...yawn...

Palin's a joke, and I am sure she does scare a lot of people. Who would want our country ran by that nut? Well I know id, Chief, Dragon would...but they all reside in the Planters jar, so it's not a surprise...

By: sidneyames on 7/6/09 at 8:25

Dragon, you are correct and I fear that O-man's supporters did not accurately predict the "unintended consequences" of putting that wacko in office.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 8:29

The question about Sara so call Two Week notice is beginning to resonate among the GOP.

My best guess is that her polls were slipping in Alaska and before they fall farther she wanted out. After all she is making money on the circuit and slipping polls could very well take away from her good looks and appeal as a speaker.

I'm sure there is more to this than known at this time.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/6/09 at 8:33

If you could see dick you would not be posting.

Impeachment is a good a guess as any.

By: dick658 on 7/6/09 at 8:38

Why the insult Capt Nemo?

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/6/09 at 8:38

Anyone want to bet this will raise costs on MIDDLE income families? So much for no tax increases on the middle class. Guess that's one promise that won't be kept.

Energy Bill Text Says It Will Cost Americans Money; Targets Help Only to Low-Income Families
http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=50525

FTA: "The text of the “cap-and-trade” energy bill, which passed the House of Representatives late last month, contains a frank admission that all Americans will experience “loss in their purchasing power” -- meaning a rise in electricty and energy costs. "

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/6/09 at 8:41

But...this would mean they would actually have to KNOW what's in the bills they are passing. Is that any way to run a government???

If you want to talk about guns in bars sidney, then let talk.

I see that in your post that you did not mention anything about Borgman knowingly letting people carrie guns in his bar. Which in itself I think is against the law.

If they do have a gun section and a no gun section, I bet you will be in the no gun section. wink wink

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/6/09 at 8:44

Don't blame her a bit, make hay while the camel is on the tennis court, or whatever that homily is.

By: gdiafante on 7/6/09 at 9:33

You're right slacker. I also read that she wants to "unite" the country. That's interesting considering how polarizing she really is. I wonder if she knows what that means?

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/6/09 at 9:33

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/6/09 at 9:34

well, look how polarizing her "fans" are.

By: gdiafante on 7/6/09 at 9:40

My guess is that she thinks "polarizing" has something to do with Alaska's proximity to the North Pole...

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/6/09 at 9:43

Well at least she would realize there was a North Pole. Our current VP probably couldn't find one with a compass pointing the way.

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/6/09 at 9:44

Sorry meant to say couldn't find the North Pole with a compass pointing the way.

By: slacker on 7/6/09 at 9:44

Is bi-polarizing, uniting unsure people?

By: pandabear on 7/6/09 at 9:46

Your post Blanket is sort of "stupid". Listen if you had a Downs Syndrome Child and some baffone made fun of he or she, what would you do? And if some pervert late night talk show host (DUH) told sexually explicite jokes about your teen age daughter, what would you do? Oh, you'd give them a medal, wuldja? You'd probably take your concealed, licensed hand gun with your carry permit to a restaurant and sit in the "gun carry" section and threaten them - I betcha would!
