Alcohol is the trigger
I really don't understand the views of some Nashville bar owners. They are worried about handgun carry permit holders coming into bars. They should be worried about the people that bring guns in without permits.
Believe me, it happens every day! Do they really think that these people won't bring in their guns in the bar, regardless of signs and laws, they don' care. There hasn't been a permit holder involved in a shooting in a bar at all. The same can't be said for non-permit holders.
I owned a Sports Bar for 15 years, and know from experience the sign we had posted, “State Law says $2,500 fine for persons bringing weapons into bar where alcohol is served,” did not work back then, nor will it now! The only ones who will abide are the permit holders.
If bar owners were really concerned with the safety in our [establishments] they should be held responsible for “over serving” alcohol to customers.
