Won’t subsidize abortions
As a pro life citizen, I do not do support any business that supports abortion and providers such as Planned Parenthood and have asked my financial advisor to be sure none of my investments do as well. I have closed my bank account and changed banks when I found out my provider supported Planned Parenthood.
Now my tax dollars may be used to pay for abortions if the health care bill being discussed passes and there is not an amendment that explicitly forbids the use of tax dollars to pay for abortions. Such an amendment was just voted down.
Since abortion is mandated in the health care bill, every insurance plan will have to cover it and provide means necessary to obtain an abortion. This amounts to a bailout to the already profitable abortion industry.
I don’t want to be forced to subsidize abortions and I don’t think the government has the right to force its citizens to pay for a procedure that they vehemently oppose. Let Congress hear from you on this issue.

Sounds so much like a conservative acquaintance of mine. He bitches constantly about lazy people on the dole and that there's never a reason for someone to be on any kind of public assistance. At the same time, his parents (for health reasons) have been living off of government programs for the past 25 years. He's also the same guy that says that there's no reason why someone can't just pick up an move to find a job when they lose theirs. But recently he lost his job and can't find one in the Cookeville area where he lives. When I suggested that he move some place else for work he says, "You know I can't move... I have a house... I need to stay to take care of my parents". As with most conservatives, he has a completely myopic, self centered view of life and he's the only one that works hard and does the right things.
gdia (welcome back) and brrrrk, those kind of people bring to mind the expression, "Walk a mile in my shoes."
gdiafante, Yesterday and Today.... you got to make it harder than that. :-) By the way, I have a friend that has two of those babies....
I believe in Pro-Choice. If someone wants to have a child - fine. If someone else wants an abortion - that's fine too. Their choice. However, I do not want my tax dollars going to either one of them.

No charity, of any kind, should receive government subsidies. No donation to a charity should be tax-deductible - both diminish, demean and degrade the meaning of charity.

Yep. Usually the same ones who support massive corporate welfare and are quite happy to be slaves to the corporation because it's "free enterprise."
Correct Brrrk, I know that wasn't very hard but it was in keeping with the abortion theme...

I think mariebarbara is related to sid. or another one of sid's alter egos.
Good morning! I find this funny because when I first read the caption on the "front" page, I thought to myself, "Oh this is going to be good if Sidney Ames was today's LTE writer!"
Funny how we both thought about her from this subject!
Now, as for the LTE, I would be willing to bet that you have already had your tax $'s spent on abortions.
Thanks mama
OK, gd., off topic: It was released in England, not the US, and was "Yesterday and Today"?
Congrats dargent, you're correct. You win a years supply of weblinks from Chief.
brrrk: Who invited you to this party. It's between me and him. No dames.
Missive to Chief MOP: One of our agents, a temporary monitor, reported to The Executive Committee that you have an update on the intern situation. Please post your remarks in the usual code. Thank you, The Director
This thread will self destruct in 100 posts...
GD: I posted my quiz last week to you, but I guess you were on vacation....here's the best I've got:...In India, with the Maharishi:
#1 Why did Ringo leave early, ahead of the rest?
#2 Who did the Maharishi "hit" on to cause the boys to be suspicious of him?
#3 Who gave Lennon inspriation for "Lucy in the Sky w/ Diamonds?
You get all three, I'll paint your house.
hiya, Mama! i was thinking of you this morning and how i haven't made it across the river yet to try Sweet 16th. i need to do that - maybe this weekend!
1: he didn't like the food

Hiya back! Hey we have 2 new restaurants open this past week in EN. One is called Nuvo Burrito and is located in the old Z's Deli sight, behind Marche'. The other one is at 10th & Fatherland and I'm not sure the name of it but it is Vietnamese food. I haven't tried either one YET but am looking forward to doing so. If you make it across, keep them in mind!
man, i LOVE Vietnamese food - i definitely need to check that out!
s/h/b "site."
you should write food reviews. you're nicer than Kay West.
lol
Far East. That's the name!!!
I've never had that type food so I don't know if I would like it or not. That's one reason I'm anxious to give it a try. In fact, I think it's what's for dinner!
Hey, I'm a foodie! LOL
bnakat: Much good news to report. As I said, I caught your Sun. transmission by mistake. I think if you check the "Rules & Regulation" handbook, (alongside Gideaon's Bible in your top drawer) this board undergoes a complete exorcism every Fri. at midnight, and doesn't reopen until 5:00am Monday am. (There are exclusions and waivers for people who have no lives and post on Sat.),
The intern, who we'll call "Alice" to protect her identity, has agreed to ommit the common place phrase, "nottin' but a bunch of filthy whores" from her posts when referring to the electorate.
It's been removed from the "Employee Manual" as well. See, we just don't sit on our fat asses around here at Corporate.
"Blue Balls", I mean Blue Dog, over and out.
Mama, it's pretty spicy so you need to like hot food. Get a big bowl of pho. Pho means soup and comes in a huge variety of flavors. That's traditional Vietnamese fare.
Dow is still above 9000
gd:, OK, what color do you like you shutters? ( I cannot believe you got all three!, you're a genius).
Bonus Round: #1 In TM, Transcendental Meditation, how many "mantras" were there?
(for the basic course)
#2 In est, Werner Erhart's real name was what?
Thanks for the info, blanket. I do like hot food and am looking forward to trying it. Pho is what I've heard people talk about. Sounds so good I may have to just truck over there for lunch today--in a few minutes in fact!
I think Werner's real name is John Rosenberg or John Paul Rosenberg or something like that. No idea about TM...
let me know how it is!
gd: Judges ruling: close enough...it was Jack Rosenberg. Got you on that TM one, eh? 12 mantras...Omni Mag. back in the 80's published them...they were assigned by AGE, so 2 of the three Beatles got the same one, but you were forbidden to tell anyone yours. For $10.00, I'll tell you mine. I took est too. Scientology...all of it. Does it show?

Who you callin' a Dame? My "twig and berries" would disagree... :-)
brrrrk: Sorry for the inconvience. I really don't know who is male and who is female on this board. Besides knowing "House" is transgender and Sid is a male, I'm kinda lost.
now this is funny - Fox doesn't know where Iraq and Egypt are on the map!

Is Bush43 working there now??
I find that mind your own business works better in these cases . Follow your belief and let others follow theirs. After you are not your brothers keeper.
I hesitate doing this because it's.... well... so chief-like, but I just had to do it.
Seems like the conservatives are trying to blow smoke by citing the results from an "unbiased" health care think tank... unbiased my ass.

i know! lol - that's how i felt when i posted the link about Fox News.
gd: Ok, Final Round of Champions...
#1) What childhood disease did Ringo almost die of?
#2) Why did George miss the 2nd Beatles tour of the US?
i'm anxiously awaiting for Mama to get back from lunch so that she can tell me whether or not it's worth a trip across the river for some Vietnamese food.
dargent, be careful on the Erin Andrews video, I picked up a virus.

LOL!
nazi, if its the Mekong river, I advise against it.
Ok Dargent...
1: Appendicitis
2: I think you're wrong, the second U.S. tour, in 1965, had George, this included the famous Shea Stadium concert. Maybe you're thinking about Ringo's tonsilitis that prevented him from going to Australia with the band in 64?

I'm sorry, but I just can't go there.

What if I'm against the war in Iraq, but I'm for the one in Afganistan ?
Can I have my taxes prorated to only pay for the one I support ?
