Bad diagnosis

Blue Dog Democrats are to be commended for finally saying “wait” to the liberal Pelosi-Obama juggernaut on health care. Getting it right seems to be much less important to the House and White House than getting it through.

Details matter in trillion-dollar undertakings that will dramatically impact every American. What’s the rush? Eventually, other people’s money runs out, so evaluating the real costs of the health care plan and making informed decisions about the hard choices is the minimum to avoid political malpractice.

Why not give people time to read the bill and understand what the 53 commissions are going to do? Wasn’t ‘transparency’ a campaign promise of the guy who is fond of saying, “I won?” Have you noticed the increased number of federally originated health care public service announcements on broadcast media? Is the Big Brother Nanny State here?

The autocrats are preparing you for them making decisions about your life.

The auto insurance market has functioned well with state mandated minimums and upgrades that people can choose at their discretion. If everyone had to buy a minimum health care plan managed by a private or non-profit insurance carrier, our current system would work much better.

Safeway [Supermarkets] employees have a miraculous health care plan helps them make informed choices about their health, wellness and health care providers. There are lots of models and options that work better than the current system, but none involve single payers.

Canadian health care only works because well-off Canadians can come here conveniently when the need arises. Above all, there is no need to rush into a bad decision when a better one is within reach.

"If our Government run the health care the way the VA is run, it will be great and i would like to sign up. In our community we have several ex- marines and sholders that goes to the VA here in Nashville. Talk about being well cared for they are."

Well now I'm confused.... Chief (the eternal optimist and militarist of this group) claims that the VA is just one step above the treatment one would receive in the slums of Calcutta. Someone's telling a big whopper here.... by the way, where is the Chief whopper teller?

By: gdiafante on 7/29/09 at 3:10

I can attest, the VA sucks.

To the second part of the question, who cares?

By: slacker on 7/29/09 at 3:18

Geez, I go out to eat, and come back, and find out the world is ending again.
I gotta go pack, lets see..beer, cashews, copy of the movie Cadillac Records, change of underwear..

By: gdiafante on 7/29/09 at 3:21

Don't forget a burned CD of Wing...

By: Funditto on 7/29/09 at 3:46

Sure. He's shiny!

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 3:47

I'll bring the cheese dip.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 3:51

hmmmm....cheese dip.......

i better bring a 12 pack.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 3:53

Any time I try to set a girl up with a male friend, that's the first question they ask.
"Is he shiny?"

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 3:55

yeah, we girls are so predictable.

By: brrrrk on 7/29/09 at 3:55

Funditto says "Sure. He's shiny!"

and

house_of_pain says "I'll bring the cheese dip."

?????

As "Lonesome" George Gobel once said, "Did you ever get the feeling that the world was a tuxedo and you were a pair of brown shoes?"...

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 3:56

Question #2: "Does he have his own medicine ball?"

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 3:59

brrrrk, I think I was volunteering to bring party supplies to the rapture.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:00

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:02

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:02

I've been away for a few hours...who knows?
I'm THE Titans fan, but I don't carry it that far.

Cool.... I'll bring my Marx Brothers movie collection... that is if you'll have a heathen like me?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:05

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:07

I thought you were into nerds.

I thought you were into nerds.

No, not nerds - geeks. If there were a geek in the yard next door I'd show up more quickly.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:10

Difference?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:11

truth be told, i actually have a crush on some of the geeks on Whale Wars.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:12

Yes, there is totally a difference.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:13

Not rat boy?! Oh, no, please not rat boy.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:16

rat boy?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:18

house, perhaps this will help explain the difference:

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:19

Blanket, if you like the scrawny, long-haired, sorry-excuse-for-facial-hair punk (rat boy), I'll have to rethink my attitude towards you.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:21

Whale Wars, BTW.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:25

oh, are you talking about that skinny sorry-excuse-for-facial-hair dude? no, not him.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:27

i don't know their names, hold on...i'm looking it up....

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:33

Okay, we're cool. That little dude irritates me.
It would almost be worth it to harpoon a whale, just to make him cry.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:35

lol - if we're talking about the same guy - and i think we are - yes, i'd have to agree. except i would just pretend to harpoon the whale but i'd tell him it croaked.

By: Funditto on 7/29/09 at 4:36

Now they've got some sort of rope. Oh this is interesting.

By: pswindle on 7/29/09 at 4:39

Abortion should be included in the health care package. Do you wnat women to go back to an alley and such for abortions? Your religion will not stop abortion. You need to get in the real world. I do not wnat any man telling me what to do with my body. I can make the best decision for me and you can do the same thing.
Ladies wake up and take control over your own body.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:39

Funditto, they're on to you. "The Rope" only comes out when they know chicks are watching.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:41

Funditto, you are having too much fun - lol!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:43

got that right, pswindle.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:46

Yeah, men should stay out of women's...wait a minute...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/29/09 at 4:48

lol!

By: Funditto on 7/29/09 at 4:49

Somehow I don't think they would consider me a "chick" since I'm nearly old enough to be their mom. But from a distance..... maybe! Yeah, that's it.

By: house_of_pain on 7/29/09 at 4:52

It's a little early for cougar season, but I guess we can make an exception.

By: slacker on 7/29/09 at 4:54

pswindle, what do you expect me to do with all these coat hangers?

By: brrrrk on 7/29/09 at 5:23

If men could get pregnant, abortions would be legal without question.

By: dargent7 on 7/29/09 at 5:48

Looks like it was a "ho-hum" day here at cookoo central. Oh, besides the world is ending in 2012....I thought we all agreed to not drop acid before we logged on?
And, someone is selling coat hangers in back alleys....I didn't miss much.

It doesn't matter what people think or think they know. The Democratic and Republican parties have both failed Americans. We are beginning to see the emergence of a third political party - The Hispanic Peoples party.

According to U.S. population projections, in the year 2040 people of Hispanic descent will have the largest voting population in America. At this point, politics will change. All of these "crazy" programs will be reversed and we will see the emergence of a new America.

America is in the process of changing from an English speaking nation to a Spanish speaking nation. America is in the process of changing from a melting pot to a single one pot boiling. This is due to population shifts as some groups have failed to regenerate their own kind and one group has regenerate their own kind and continued to expand. This is not a bad thing but a shift, as one dominate culture is replaced by another. There were the Indians, the Spanish, the French, the English and soon - the Hispanics.

But as American history has shown, that culture, too, will be replaced. According to U.S. Population statistics - the next generation appears to be Asian. Primarily Chinese-American.
