Letters to the Editor

Monday, August 10, 2009 at 12:00am

Monday morning facial

When The City Paper came on the scene I had high hopes it would be different, and that [commentaries] would not be driven by a leftist agenda.

So much for hope.

Liz Garrigan’s column in which she basically mocks people of faith is a perfect example. I won’t be reading your rag again. Go the hell!

"Fox tilts right in their commentary (which they actually label as commentary rather than news) and is even handed in their 'news' reports."

Bwahahahahahahahahaahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blanket, my son showed this to me and it's pretty funny! (Of course, any of you are free to copy this link and check it out too, except for sidneyames because she's a maroon.)

The website listed at the end of the video is an actual website you can check out...it's pretty funny too! Gone for now...hope you all have a good evening!

I'm bringing the music...everything from the Beatles to Miley Cyrus (for CAH)

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/10/09 at 2:21

Blanket,

No, CNN talks about how interesting it would be to see a sitting president assassinated, or how much he looks like a monkey, or how closely he resembles hitler.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/10/09 at 2:22

Gdia,

And CNN tilts left. So what? Each news place has their own points of view and agenda...the trick is to watching all of them and then figuring out what is probably true...you know that.

By: gdiafante on 8/10/09 at 2:23

Oh, and maybe some Barney for Chief...nah, his sorry ass can stay at home.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/10/09 at 2:24

Gdia,

No problem...the company would make the booze curdle in my stomach anyway. :-)

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/10/09 at 2:29

Ben,

It wouldn't matter if you showed them that they were the only ones watching CNN or MSNBC...they would just claim the rest of the people watching FoxNews were wrong.

By: gdiafante on 8/10/09 at 2:31

You know, you'd think that the his first reaction would be that he wasn't expecting to be here after the rapture. Instead, he's lured into an insult...bad Catholic!! lol

You two stooges have no idea what I watch, you just hope I do. Blanket, got a word for 'em?

Chief: I really forget whom I was trashing on this board,...was it you, CAH, or Bend-O? I really cannot remember. At this juncture, I'm glad the Tenn. legislature passed the guns in bars, restaurants, churches, parks, and playgrounds. I suggest we all meet at 12/12/12 at 12:00AM HOUR and just settle this thing.
I'll bring the chips and dip, you bring the pulled pork.

Oh yeah, it's the people protesting Healthcare who are the "mob"!

Healthcare Town Hall Forum with Congressman Jim Himes

http://www.seiu2001.org/Healthcare_Town_Hall_Forum_with_Congressman_Jim_Himes.aspx

"Opponents of reform are organizing counter-demonstrators to speak at this and several congressional town halls on the issue to defend the status quo. It is critical that our members with real, personal stories about the need for access to quality, affordable care come out in strong numbers to drown out their voices."

Isn't that what we're supposed to do? Tell our representatives how we want them to vote. The news has already given us all of the Obama, Pelosi, Reid talking points... we don't need our local Reps to regurgiate them again.

We don't need to listen to them... they need to listen to us.

By: gdiafante on 8/10/09 at 2:49

I believe I already posted that link Ben, try and keep up.

By: gdiafante on 8/10/09 at 2:50

We're supposed to disrupt discussion and shout down others? Typical.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/10/09 at 2:51

Ben,

But, they don't want to hear what we have to say...so they are trying to get cover so they can vote the way THEY want to rather than what the majority of their constituents want!

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/10/09 at 2:52

Gdia,

No, we're supposed to be able to ask questions of our representatives with the knowledge we won't get beaten up or threatened before, during or after the meetings.

By: BenDover on 8/10/09 at 2:53

"I believe I already posted that link Ben, try and keep up"... how daft of me.

By: BenDover on 8/10/09 at 3:03

It would seem that the right is entering into the realm of the time honored art of protest as a way of making their position known to their representatives. Obama really screwed up with the unemployment thing because most of us on the right were usually working and didn’t have time for such shenanigans. Thanks Obama.

Now their only hope is to discredit the true outrage against this plan by saying we're a bunch of shrill mobs paid-for by the insurance lobby and are bent on disrupting the discussion. The real deal is that the disruption IS the discussion. We're telling our reps to put a cork in it and listen up; because we don't want to allow government to take over a growing 1/6th of the American economy. It's un-freakin-american and if they allow it they will be pummeled in the elections in 2010 and beyond.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_hall_meeting

In today's heterogeneous communities with large populations, more often, town hall meetings are held so that people can influence elected officials in their decision making or to give them a chance to feel that their voices are being heard.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/10/09 at 3:09

looks like Ben and Chief are honing their shouting down skills.

Well, well, well. Look who came up out of the dark to finance healthcare. Guess there's no doubt now that it's socialism.

And how's this different from Rupert Murdoch losing 100 million a year bankrolling Fox?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/10/09 at 3:53

That’s what we’re dealing with: cynical manipulation of an inchoate public anger by entrenched interests and the primal screams of a minority of people frustrated with the direction of the country – both of whom are trying to scare the majority into indecision and intimidate the Democrats into submission. Then there are the many – some of whom are wary of action on health care right now; some of whom are concerned about government spending; some of whom support reform, but aren’t clear on the issues; some of whom are frustrated with Obama’s moderation. Very little of the public debate has to do with the issues addressed above. Instead, we have anonymous lies spread by email, we have right-wing organizations claiming that “Obamacare=Gov’t Funded Abortion and Euthanasia,” we have Sarah Palin claiming Obama would make her son go before an evil “death panel,” we have Senator Jim DeMinto comparing America under Obama to Germany under Hitler, we have people on the streets and in town halls and on the radio claiming that Obama is instituting Nazi policies, we have protestors deliberately trying to shut down debate (pdf) and silence those in favor of reform. And I’m not cherry-picking the most egregious examples here – these are the tactics used by mainstream opponents of health care reform.

What's the problem? The churches (right-wings) have taken over TN. I thought everyone knew that the churches now have total control on Capitol Hill except the Governor.

By: govskeptic on 8/10/09 at 8:57

Seems Christian and church bashing is becoming a popular sport here in Middle Tn. Of course, we want to become western europe so badly.
