Hey, negative Nate
Just let me know if Larry Woody is able to say something positive about NASCAR? Just once?
I got tired of major league baseball once and quit watching it. I felt better about it..... Maybe Larry needs to do the same with NASCAR and let the rest of us enjoy it.
Come to think of it I might take my own advice and quit reading his articles.

Hummm, I have to admit I was curious how the government could enforce forcing people to have health insurance. This seems like a viable way for the government to do it.
It would make for an incredibly powerful IRS as well.
Health care reform means more power for the IRS

You guys would have flipped your lids if Bush had inserted a 40 minute infomercial into the curriculum of every public school. What’s funny is that since you suffer from the ‘everyone else is idiots’ blindness, you can’t question the meme that drives your positions… and, hilariously; your confidence in your superior reasoning makes you blind to the contradictions.
Wow...and this from NPR!

Once again it goes over chief tiny head.
Wasn't Patton shot in the Buttocks, himself?
"He [Patton] was wounded by machine gun fire in the Battle of Saint-Mihiel. The bullet went in just below his buttocks. A big joke with Patton for years afterwards was to drop his pants while drunk at a party and call himself a 'half-assed general.'"

Well, this would definitely make some people in Congress unhappy.

Chief, anyone who is surprised by the fact that the IRS will be the enforcer hasn't been paying attention.
If you do not buy a qualified plan - IRS imposes tax penalty.
If you want the government to subsidize your plan, IRS determines the amount. IRS will also determine any tax credit.
The IRS will need to share your tax information with the new Health Care panel.
But, no where in the bill is a way to check if someone is an illegal alien.
Ben, Chief
I have no problem with the Bible, or the Koran, or Greek Mythology being used as part of a religious studies program or as a study of the books as literature. The problem is that for guys like you it has never been about comprehensive studies... You would have no problems with JUST the Bible being taught. You would strive to interject the Bible into everything.. regardless of anyone else's view of faith.
I can see it in math class now...
If Jesus cures two lepers on Monday and cures three lepers on Tuesday and Two more lepers on Friday; How many lepers did Jesus cure during the entire week?
Dragon,
Well, that IS the logical solution to enforcement...and a rather frightening one as well.
They will also have to create a national registry of every health plan in America to 1) determine if it meets the government requirements for a qualified plan and 2) to verify that your "proof of insurance" is valid. Will the insurance company have to supply a list of every customer and dependant or will you have to submit a copy of you BCBS card with your 1040?
brrrrk... we live in Tennessee. Do you disagree with teaching Tennessee history in Tennessee School... with preference over, say Georgia or Oregon state history?
BenDover
"brrrrk... we live in Tennessee. Do you disagree with teaching Tennessee history in Tennessee School... with preference over, say Georgia or Oregon state history?"
Totally different, and you know it... or you should.
Everyone who attends a Tennessee school lives in Tennessee. I doubt seriously that anyone who lives in Oregon would attend a school in Tennessee. My God, why would they?! Boy, lead ain't got nuthin' on you!
brrrrk,

Well now, seems to me it's those who want everything BUT the Bible to be taught in schools who seems to have a problem.
Would I have a problem with JUST the Bible being taught in school? Of course not...as I believe in the Bible...BUT if someone who believed in the Koran, for example, was offended, I would not have a problem with them studying BOTH. It's those who say it's ok for any religion BUT Christianity be allowed in schools who offend.
"If Jesus cures two lepers on Monday and cures three lepers on Tuesday and Two more lepers on Friday; How many lepers did Jesus cure during the entire week?"
Answer - Unknown, as we don't know how many he cured the other days of the week.

Which means they will have an extremely invasive database on every man, woman and child in the US...probablly to include DNA. Not trying to sound alarms or anything...just making a logical conclusion from the facts.
I have no problem with the Bible being taught as Literature, the Psalms in particular make extensive use of a hendiadys. The Koran and other forms of literature could also be examined.
But it cannot be used for religious instruction, which is what people want when they want it included in the curriculum.
Ben for someone as you that thinks that Iraq is the reason for 9/11, I really don't think that you are the right person to be giving history lessons.
Bend-O: All you ever need to know and remember is that your hero, GW Bush started a worthless, useless war in Iraq under 100% false pretenses. He lied.
PERIOD.
Kosh,
"But it cannot be used for religious instruction, which is what people want when they want it included in the curriculum."
Well, if you taught all of them, you'd have to be careful not to use them for religious instruction or the others would intercede. So that SHOULD give a good balance in schools.
As for me, it's the fact that any other type of religious book is ok in school except the Bible that angers me.
Dargent,
"Bend-O: All you ever need to know and remember is that your hero, GW Bush started a worthless, useless war in Iraq under 100% false pretenses. He lied.

Out of curiosity (or perhaps memory lapse as I can't recall if you've ever said or not) do you think the Afghan war is also a "worthless, useless war" as well?
Kosh III I have a stronge feeling that most of so -call religious poster on this board and in Tennessee get their Bible learning from the movie The Ten Commanments and like wise entertainment.
Well, it looks like there will be a GOP response aired after Obama's speech. I frankly wasn't sure if it would be on any other channel other than FoxNews.

Give me a break... Chri$tianity permeates our society. Other religious books are generally taught in schools simply because they get NO exposure ANYWHERE else. Name one single religious holiday other than Chri$tian, for which we get a federal holiday.
brrrrk,
Irrelevant.
Point is, if you are going to reference and teach ONE religious book in school, you should reference and teach them ALL...if for no other reason than to be fair to all concerned.
I assume they mean illegal aliens here, although they don't SAY it. They do say they are being fired "due to their immigration status" so I guess that's what it is.
I wonder if the federal government can fine the company for hiring illegals?
American Apparel plans to layoff "unauthorized" employees
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-09/04/content_11993328.htm
Teach all religion in public school or teach none. It is that simple.
Brrrrk... the point is that we are a nation founded largely on a Judeo Christian value system so it makes sense to teach what constitutes a Judeo Christian value system because otherwise we are white-washing our history. Teaching the Koran would be like teaching Georgia History in Tennessee. Completely irrelevant.
Chief, nowhere in the article does it even hint that ICE will identify, arrest, and deport the illegals. They did hint at the fines.
Looks like a good revenue source - fine companies for hiring illegals but keep the illegals in the country with more on the way.

Big talk.... but I believe, based on your posts, that you would love nothing more than for this country to become a theocracy.
brrrrk,
Really? Sorry but you're incorrect. A theocracy wouldn't fit into how our Constitution was setup.
I would like our country to go back to what we had in the beginning however...a more constitutionally correct country.
Wow...I heard about what he called Republican on video...and about his being a truther...but a self-admitted Communist too?!

Chief: Now that you mention it, YES, the "war" in Afghanistan is MORE worthless than Iraq. They don't have any OIL for starters. I't been going on 8 years since 9/11...bin Laden is long gone, probably dead. A Nation, even as dumb as the USA, cannot commit 135,000 troops in Iraq and 65,000 in Afghanistan to chase the "terrorists" around their own backyards. Do you not get that? It's NOT a football or baseball game with timeouts and innings. It's the same as Vietnam. We cannot kill everybody. It's unwinnable, endless, and a sick, pathetic joke. Except to you warriors who have to be attacking something or someone to feel alive. Go feed the homeless.
thanks for the well wishes. actually, whiskey may kill off the virus more than beer so perhaps i should switch up. LOL!
Chief, quick question... do you believe that the private sector can do things better than the public sector?
Dargent,
So I can then assume from your post that you are against this massive escalation in soldiers to be sent there and against the longer tours which the 82nd was just told about (from 12 months to 15 months in country)?
house, try super gluing the table.
brrrrk,
Absolutely the private sector can do things better than the public sector.
BUT...that does NOT mean that the private sector can do EVERYTHING better than the public sector. The government should do things the public sector can't do or won't do.

Ben
Teaching Georgia History is apart of American History. Just teaching Tennessee History and calling it American History is not the whloe picture.
So not teaching the Koran or any other religion other than Judeo Christian would not be World History.
I've tried that, Blanket. Every time I open the tube, I get dizzy and forget what I was doing.

LOL Absolutely... BUT... ever consider a political career?
Well I was just wondering why you would enlist in our Socialist military rather than sign up for a hitch with Xe aka Blackwater? I hear the hazing is wonderful this time of year.
brrrrk,
My answer is logical. There are some things, like national defense, printing money, etc. that the government should do, as prescribed in the Constitution.
Other things, like selling cars, should be done by the private sector.
As for joining the military vs. Blackwater...first of all, Blackwater is not a US military organization...it is a private organization...and I wanted to be a soldier. Second of all, when I joined, Blackwater didn't exist then. Finally, I don't want to be in a private organization...I want to defend my country.
brrrrk the private sector is not tied down by Republicans not wanting to pay taxies.
