Keep on telling lies GOP
Well, it seems that Joe Wilson and his "you lie" outburst may have cinched a shutout in 2010 elections of republican candidates.
He apologized to President Obama but only under duress from other members of the Republican Party but refused to do so on the Senate floor as urged by other republicans who are beginning to see that they are in deep trouble with the people of the United States because of their silence in condemning the right wing fringe who are creating havoc at town hall meetings and now during a presidential speech.
Wilson made a fool of himself and the Republican Party but you still have some defending his actions who think that lies and fear are vital tactics to win elections.
To those who follow Limbaugh, Hannity, Dobbs, O’Reilly, Valentine and their [ilk], I will say this — keep it up boys. We ( the democrats ) need all the help we can get in 2010 to totally capture Congress and put this country back on the road to prosperity.

I want say that the Democrats have the Republcan beat, but the Republicans party has got Limbaugh, Hannity, Dobbs, O’Reilly, Valentine and Fox News has a deadweight.

The party that holds the White House rarely makes gains in the next election. It may be more of a buyers remorse effect but that effect usually comes when you use your own money to buy something. Those who bought Hillary over Barak would be the ones that are having additional second rounds of remorse.
I think my president will be undermined more by former Clinton supporters actively sabotoging him. They will leak things from within the administration and will be looking for ways that they can help the Republicans without earning the racists blowback. Old Clintonites would have been more careful about organizing an attempt to use former recipients of Arts grants in a political way. They would have done it but not in a way that left a lot of recorded evidence.

Joe Wilson has garned sympathy do to his medical condition: "Tourette's Syndrome". Or, mayybe he thought he was a hockey game or at the WWF Smackdown finals? Either way, he's got a contingent of fools who are championing his cause. Has a fan club base. Maybe he can run the Sarah Palin ticket in 2012.

Dooley: I wrote a LTE almost exactly like the one you have published today. ( I think TCP has to rotate us, to be fair). I referrenced "Tourette's". I remember the episode on LA Law years ago about the guy who sued his employer (and won) for blurting out "bi**tch" all the time to his female boss. This guy "Tourette" was a legal genius.

When I was in Atlanta yesterday moring (before daylight) I did not realize how bad it was. I did drive throught some havey rain in Norcross and the water was up to the rims of my car wheels along 285. It was not until I saw the news last night that just how bad it was.
All of the mussel in my back have not relaxed from me fighting the steering wheel even now.

Great leter, Dooley; I hope that you are right and the GOP is shut out in 2010 and beyond. They are a crafty and clever bunch of survivors and the general public's memory is short. We shall see.

Wilson's two-word outburst brought in 2 million bucks from supporters in less than a week.. To me, this says that the racist element in our society is strong, well-financed and has the savvy to finance vocal candidates who reflect their repugnant views. I would not count these creeps out just yet.

I love Obama's comment on Letterman with regards to Carter's racism accusations. He said "I was black before I was elected."
True. but I believe there is an element in our society who truly believed a black man would not get elected and were shocked when he did.

Obama, on Letterman, came off as charismatic, articulate, charming, and funny. What else do we want and need in a President? Some idiot who goes around calling Nations, "the Axis of Evil"? Yeah, that really helped our cause.
For those who still think that Wilson us not a racist, remember, he did his apprenticeship with Strom "Dixiecrat" Thurmond, he is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and he was one of just 7 state polticians to vote to keep the stars and bars flying over the SC statehouse.

We elected a black man as a feel good stunt; now, it is becoming clear, a large segment of the population is not yet ready to let that black man actually lead the nation. 47% of the popular vote went to old man McCain and his bimbonic running mate...that half of the nation was never ready to elect or follow a black president.. Add in some Democratic buyer's remorse and bingo.....Obama's effectiveness is seriously impaired. If this trend continues, we can expect gridlock and stalemate until 2012.

Reverend Huckabee was in Israel recently, sucking up to his overlords. The Israelis like the way Huckabee kow-tows, Huck might siphon off the powerful Jewish voting bloc., many Jews are not thrilled with Obama's ME policies and many have expressed their remorse for voting for him. President Huckabee would act as a vassal to the Israeli PM.
Lone: I totally disagree with your assessment. Obama may be young, but he's resilient and strong. He'll forge ahead, wade thru Congress, get stymied here and there, but he has youth (health) on his side. Plus, his pursuasive personality. The guy is smart. He's like a Bill Clinton in intelligence. The "Black" issue will always be there, however, in backround...like the "wallpaper" you prefer on your computer. Makes no difference to it's effectiveness. He was elected "on purpose". It was NO "stunt".
Obama is a thoughtful concise and articulate speaker and measures every word . I firmly believe that he agrees fully with Jimmy Carter but understands that to subscribe to that position publicly would not benefit him nor anyone else.
d7 . Obama is very unlike Dubya who has 'Tourettes' as you attributed to Wilson also and blurts out all kind of nonsense and verbal misnomers while trying to express himself and even gets them wrong.
Carter has seen what racist action can do in the south. So I may understand where he is coming from. However I do not think that all of the US is so racist.

Where did Dooley lie? Let's see. First, Wilson's apology to the President was almost immediate and of his own volition. Secondly, he did not refuse to apologize on the Senate floor because he is not a senator and did not violate the Senate rules.
Sorry that reality is such an inconvenience. Don't forget to vote Democrate in December.

Dragon, if Wilson returned the 2 million bucks he's made off the remarks, I'd believe his apology. If he quit the Confederate Veterans group and burned the stars & bars, I'd believe him.
