A joking matter

Seems that Sarah Palin respects Glenn Beck so much that she has hinted at a Palin/Beck 2012 presidential run. Oh God, how I hope so.

As fragmented and divided as the Republican Party is now, it's an extreme possibility .

When I heard this I became hysterical with laughter and thought if she really wants to be successful she could round out a sure-to-win ticket by appointing Rush Limbaugh as her secretary of state and Bernie Maddoff as her Secretary of the Treasury, along with Lou Dobbs as Press Secretary.

It would be a disaster, but a laugh a minute.

they can wish death to Obama but they're still sore that there were chimp jokes made about Bush.

By: Dragon on 11/19/09 at 3:58

When has anyone on the forum wished death to President Obama? I'm sure the Secret Service would be most interested.

Dargent's charge was that criticism of Obama was treason. During the Bush administration, Pelosi said that dissent was the highest form of patriotism. And you can be darned sure that calling Obama a chimp would cause riots in the streets by the ACLU, NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus, etc., etc.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:00

Blanket,

"why do you care if I quote the Bible"
Actually I don't - was just surprised you would.

"btw...quote Darwin all you want. It won't bother me."
Now, why would I want to quote someone I do not think is correct?

"Have a nice day!"
Always! If I wake up, it's a GREAT day! :-)

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:01

Blanket,

I don't wish death to anyone...but I do wish Obama had more experience before he took office. I frankly didn't like any of the choices for President in the last election, but I thought Obama was the worst of the lot because of his inexperience.

Maybe so, but you tell me exactly what is implied by the use of this quote...

"Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

I'd love to hear your justification...

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:06

brrrrk,

Well, if you take it that way, it could mean they want him to die.

I would like to THINK CAH meant that his days in office be few and that he not be reelected to office. I HOPE that is what was meant anyway.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:07

well, if you read the verse in context (imagine that) it talks about his wife being a widow.

Blanket,

True...but I was hoping it wasn't meant to be taken as such. After all, this IS our President, like him or not.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:11

really? so it's fine to quote the bible out of context?

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:12

Blanket,

Is it fine to do that? Not really...but it IS done a lot.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:14

The slogan comes at a time of heightened concern about antigovernment anger. Earlier this year, the president’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, said that Tea Parties could lead to something unhealthy. In September, authorities shut down a poll on Facebook asking if President Obama should be killed.

“The problem is you don’t know if people who are donning that message in a shirt or on a bumper sticker are fully aware of the quote or what follows. Obviously that message makes the ambiguity disappear. If they’re just referring to him being out of office, that’s one thing. If they’re referring to him being dead, that’s so offensive. It’s protected speech, but it’s clearly offensive.”

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:16

would you endorse quoting a verse out of context and finding it humorous?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:17

or do you like making provocative statements then hiding behind ambiguity too? sort of like calling yourself a patriot and wishing failure for the president.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:23

Blanket,

I wish for failure of certain things that I consider to be against the principles of the US. If that means I'm not a patriot, so be it. I believe that many things the government does, it should not be doing. So I make my opinions known.

I don't want socialized medicine, and so hope it fails. I don't believe Cap and Trade is a good thing...so I hope it doesn't make it out of Congress.

There are a number of things I don't think are good for the country and so I say so and protest against them. That does NOT mean I believe that violence is a good alternative. Quite the contrary, I do not advocate violence at all.

Now, if you are asking, do I wish Obama to fail? No, I do not...but I wish certain programs he advocates do. There IS a difference you know.

really? so it's fine to quote the bible out of context?
By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 3:12
Blanket,

Is it fine to do that? Not really...but it IS done a lot.

Yes, chief, it really is. it is done by the so-called Christians who like to espouse whatever they can think of to fit their needs, depending upon whom they are speaking with at the time. THAT is why I don't like religion, per se. Anyone can quote anything and make it what they want it to be. Christians do it (often) to try and make someone else feel bad or less than the person quoting (ie-not Christian).

CAH, I am probably the most OPEN minded person you could meet. I have nothing narrow-minded in me. I'm not gay but I'll fight you for gay rights. I haven't had an abortion but I will fight you for the right to do so. I could go on but I hope you get the message, The only thing remotely shallow about me is which end of the pool I get into.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:25

well, you don't make the difference clear here. you're dang near jumping with joy and cheering every time Obama does something that you view as failure. you spend all day trying to find derrogatory articles to post, from the important to the mundane (that his wife wore navy blue - for crying out loud!).

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:27

Mama, you'd think the sincere Christians would be appalled by the bumper sticker that CAH posted. there should be outrage.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:29

MamaG,

While I don't try to misquote the bible, I do believe in certain things and will stand up for them. I do not believe in gay marriage and will say so. I do not believe abortions are a good thing and will say so. I believe I have been pretty consistent on this.

And yes, I still believe I am a Christian too. A perfect Christian...not by a long shot! But I try as hard as I can to do what's right.

Death to Smoochie!

By: dargent7 on 11/19/09 at 4:34

Hamid Karzai, who like his fellow GW Bushie, stole an election, completely corrupt and fraudulant, says the Afghan security forces/ people can probably "get it up" in 3 to 5 years...and some on this board think that's a good thing? How many more billions do these people think we're stupid enough to fork over (not to mention the soldier's lives)???
Obviously the FOX News DNA has been successfully mated with the Tennessee gene pool.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:34

Blanket,

First, the blue was a social faux pas which I found funny more than anything else. I don't jump with joy when he does something I don't like...actually, I cringe when I realize that others overseas see it.

I DO jump with joy when something fails that I don't agree with - as I said healthcare, Cap and Trade, etc.

I believe you will recall that I gave him credit for sending the SEALS in to take out those pirates. I thought that was a VERY good thing for him to do.

I will give credit where it is due...but I will also call foul when he does something I don't agree with. I THINK I've been pretty consistent so far anyway.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:38

Dargent,

Considering most people do not think W stole the election, I guess you are in a minority here.

Funny, there are those on the right who are saying Obama may have used ACORN to steal the last election from Hillary. I don't believe that anymore than I believe W stole the 2000 election. Both claims are bogus, IMO.

Man, this is ridiculous! Hope it kills it!

Sen. Reid’s Government-Run Health Plan Requires a Monthly Abortion Fee
http://republicanleader.house.gov/blog/?p=690

"Beginning on line 7, p. 118, section 1303 under “Voluntary Choice of Coverage of Abortion Services” the Health and Human Services Secretary is given the authority to determine when abortion is allowed under the government-run health plan. Leader Reid’s plan also requires that at least one insurance plan offered in the Exchange covers abortions (line 13, p. 120).

What is even more alarming is that a monthly abortion premium will be charged of all enrollees in the government-run health plan. It’s right there beginning on line 11, page 122, section 1303, under “Actuarial Value of Optional Service Coverage.” The premium will be paid into a U.S. Treasury account – and these federal funds will be used to pay for the abortion services.

Section 1303(a)(2)(C) describes the process in which the Health Benefits Commissioner is to assess the monthly premiums that will be used to pay for elective abortions under the government-run health plan and for those who are given an affordability credit to purchase insurance coverage that includes abortion through the Exchange. The Commissioner must charge at a minimum $1 per enrollee per month."

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:43

chief, you said blue was offensive. and btw, it is not even close to a faux pas. people have work navy to funerals and memorials for years.

By: house_of_pain on 11/19/09 at 4:45

Well, my only suit is dark blue, and I've been to a lot of funerals the past 5 or 6 years.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:46

so, an abortion to save the mother's life if the fetus would not be viable anyway, and authorized through the Health and Human Services Secretary should not be covered? your post says that abortion would need to be reviewed so it most likely would not be voluntary abortion used as birth control.

By: slacker on 11/19/09 at 4:47

Does this mean my navy Speedo is a faux pas?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:47

or what if a 12 year old child was impregnated through incest. abortion in that situation should not be covered?

By: gdiafante on 11/19/09 at 4:47

Blanket, that was an intended jab at the first lady by Chief Heidi. Like I said before, transparent

Does this mean my navy Speedo is a faux pas?

no, but i'd ditch the hot pink one.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:48

Blanket,

Well, I've seen dark blue at funerals, but never brighter colors. But then, I haven't been to one in some time, thank God!

By: MamaG on 11/19/09 at 4:48

Chief, there is no such thing as a perfect Christian. Church is for the sinners, don't you know that? And just as you don't agree with me, likewise I don't agree with you on most things you consistently post about. So we can agree to disagree but when you (or anyone) come at me with bible quotes or defending or liking such crap as that type of bumper sticker, I'm going to come right back at you (or whomever) with my posts. This bible quoting stuff just happens to be a huge pet-peeve of mine.

I'm going Kroger-ing and stocking up for a house full of teens tomorrow night...if you don't hear from me again, you'll know why!

Toodely doo to y-o-u....:-)

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/09 at 4:50

go for the Stewie tie, house.

By: gdiafante on 11/19/09 at 4:50

It doesn't matter, Blanket. We know.

It's bordering on obsession, really. I find it pretty funny.

By: house_of_pain on 11/19/09 at 4:51

MamaG, please don't mention "house" & "teens" in the same sentence.
I don't want to go through that again...the trial, I mean...

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:52

Blanket,

"an abortion to save the mother's life if the fetus would not be viable anyway, and authorized through the Health and Human Services Secretary should not be covered?"

"or what if a 12 year old child was impregnated through incest. abortion in that situation should not be covered?"

Let me put it this way, I do not believe in abortion unless the doctor says it is to save the life of the mother and the child will not live (the doctor says this) - and the mother and the father agree to it. If it's an either or for the mother and child, the parents need to decide this...with the help of the doctor who can tell them which has the best chance.

Anything else...nope.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/19/09 at 4:53

Blanket,

"g, he doesn't have the cajones to even own up to his own posts and intentions."

I thought I just did.

Damn, I liked that pink Speedo.

By: dargent7 on 11/19/09 at 5:02

Chief: Well, alright.
.Bush & Co. didn't "steal" the 2000 election.
."Mission was Acomplished"... 4 years ago.
.The USA still needs 135,000 troops in a country that we wiped out .
.Karzai ran a Democratic/ fair election.
.7 years in Iraq is ok with the GOP....50, a 100, just as long as we are "keeping America safe".
.Karzai needs "3-5" YEARS to get his "security forces" up and running.
. 40,000 add'l troops is necessary to "win" in Afghanistan.
.Every waking moment, every breath I take, I must be vigilant to expose the current President of the USA as a fraud, deceptive, and clearly wrong on all subjects. Hell, the guy wasn't even born here, for Christ's sake. Is everybody clueless?
. The sky is blue, the grass is green, and as the world turns....according to a guy named "Chief".

By: house_of_pain on 11/19/09 at 5:07

d7, I know somebody that is friends with a guy that used to know one of your neighbor's ex in-laws, and they said you voted for "W"...twice!

Which version? Ultimately, the bible is a subjective creation of man and has been ever changing since it's inception. A perfect example is the story of the prostitute in John 8:1-11, where Jesus is quoted saying, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Biblical scholars have now shown that this story was added to the text long after the original version of John was written.
