Palin operates on instinct

Like everyone else and seamingly bigger than a Beatles reunion, Sarah Palin's book tour had me captured. If not signing her new book, Going Rogue, she's on all the talk shows giving "exclusive" interviews. I passed on the Walters and Hannity ones, waiting for the two-parter on FOX's O'Reilly. He's #1 in cable news because he says so every show.

I must admit, this former Alaska governor has it down, pat. Aside from her attractiveness, she's "folksy" and down to earth, and America loves it. She's developed a brilliant strategy this time around.

According to her, forget and nevermind electing those Harvard educated lawyers for office. She's aiming for middle America, pulling at the strings as a stay at home mom, raising 5 kids, with one disabled that she shows off as a badge of honor for forgoing abortion. "I'm like a momma grizzly bear, I look out for my cubs." O'Reilly and many others really liked that one.

And I think there are more like those snipets to come. She clearly has the scent, is on the pathway to aspire to higher office, and wants those keys to the White House. I believe she is like a bear in the woods. All instinct and no thought.

OMG Chief! My son, who was in 8th in '04 read Obama's book and predicted that he would be the next president. You really do live in a cave. And now read this regarding Obama's book. I wonder if Palin's will measure up? LOL!

"In discussing Dreams from My Father, Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison has called Obama "a writer in my high esteem" and the book "quite extraordinary." She praised "his ability to reflect on this extraordinary mesh of experiences that he has had, some familiar and some not, and to really meditate on that the way he does, and to set up scenes in narrative structure, dialogue, conversation--all of these things that you don't often see, obviously, in the routine political memoir biography. [...] It's unique. It's his. There are no other ones like that."[29]

The book "may be the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician," wrote Time columnist Joe Klein.[30] In 2008, The Guardian's Rob Woodard wrote that Dreams from My Father "is easily the most honest, daring, and ambitious volume put out by a major US politician in the last 50 years."[31] Michiko Kakutani, the Pulitzer Prize-winning critic for The New York Times, described it as "the most evocative, lyrical and candid autobiography written by a future president."[32]

The audio book edition earned Obama the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album.[33]

Five days before being sworn in as President, Obama secured a $500,000 advance for an abridged version of "Dreams From My Father" for middle-school-aged children.[34]"

If you remember, Loner, I had reserved praise for Obama when he was elected... hoping he'd swing a right and show up somewhere in Centerville near Clinton after the election. Turns out though that not only was his populist rhetoric telling; and his radical commie friends and associates were rightfully impunging. This guy actually believes all that crap he spouted to the masses to get elected and he's turning up Left of Castro on most policy matters.

Biden said it best he is "clean and articulate"

But if you really are observant the shuck and jive is there."

Pathetic. And you guys still deny that the number one problem you have with Obama is that he is black?

And if you look really, really close, you'll see that Sarah Palin's eye are crossed.

Geezzz... what a freakin' liberal stroke-job funditto.

Debbie didn't get one down that far when she visited Dallas.

By: Loner on 11/23/09 at 11:23

Joe Biden is waiting in the wings; tanned and rested, LBJ style. Joe's getting long in the tooth, if he's going to make it to the top, he's going to need help from others, and real soon.

Sen. Biden gave away his seat to Ted Kaufman, his chief of staff, who was in Israel last week with Joe Lieberman - they're getting their marching orders behind closed doors. Kaufman is keeping the Biden family's Senate seat warm for Joe's kid - Bo Biden, the ambitious warrior.

Like JFK before him, Obama has angered powerful adversaries, ruthless elements who can and do act with impunity.

Funditto,

So why was it republished in 2004 with a new introduction by Obama AFTER his keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention?

And BTW, according to the Chicago Tribune, it only sold 10,000 copies with the first printing...and more than 3 million now that he is President.

Funditto,

"And if you look really, really close, you'll see that Sarah Palin's eye are crossed."

I think I'd rather vote for a politician who has trouble seeing than one who sees exactly what he is doing and I totally disagree with.

Ben, I do not recall any praise, reserved or whatever, from you concerning the accomplishments of Mr. Barrack Obama.

I heard variations on, "THE SKY IS FALLING!" You have repeatedly blamed Obama for the financial stampede prior to his election, you claim that the panic was caused by the spectre of an Obama presidency.

No, Ben, I heard nothing but fear, ridicule and loathing from you whenever Obama was the issue. You hated this man's guts from day one and you know it. If and when he is gunned down, or whatever, your tears will be alligator tears.

You will celebrate, not grieve. And still you claim to follow the Lord...what Lord is that, Ben, the Lord of Darkness?

By: Loner on 11/23/09 at 11:38

It's not that Mrs. Palin talks funny, it's her funny talk that offends the sensibilities.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/23/09 at 11:38

Loner,

Well, I do have some praise for Mr. Obama. I thought him sending in the SEALS agains the pirates was outstanding.

Oh and he dresses well too.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/23/09 at 11:40

Loner,

Ah so it's not the speech that offends...it's what she is trying to communicate? Well you can't please everyone. But I can say the same for Mr. Obama as well...he speaks very well, but I disagree with what he says much of the time.

Ah, Chief, you liked the bloodshed..... the exploding craniums of teen-aged pirates on the high seas. Very manly. That was raw meat for the right, now you want more?

Be patient, Chief, Obama will send more troops into the quagmire in Afghanistan....it's been leaked, he's going to throw good money after bad and send more soldiers into harm's way, at the behest of the War Lobby.

The Nobel Peace Prize thing was all theater, Chief. Obama is playing ball with the power-brokers...he may allow Israel to strike Iran in a pre-emptive attack. We will then jump in, when Iran tries to strike back. Stay tuned...more carnage is comng.

When it does, I hope that you are right on the front lines, Chief, sweating bullets....it's what we pay you mercenaries to do, now get out there and kill something other than a conversation.

How many divorced Catholics do you know that have been denied communion? Or those using birth control? From what I can tell, Kennedy is a man and thus unable to even get an abortion. How ludicrous to deny him Holy Communion.

The Catholic Church is improving, in the old days they'd give the heretic a poisoned wafer as communion. That, or a litlle waterboarding etc. After confessing his sin, they'd burn him alive and sieze his property. The ends justify the means, you know.

By: u62bbs on 11/23/09 at 12:02

I LOVE IT!!! When Liberals are attacking that means they are worried. 2010 will be a watershed year after health care and cap and trade votes are over. The roar of Middle America will be heard as we say sayanora to the democratic majority in 2010 and also to the Obama Meister in 2012. The Conservatives don't have to do anything as you blindly follow your fearless leaders over the cliff. Nero fiddled....er played golf... while Rome burned. Keep on attacking and shooting yourself in the foot as that is what it will take for Conservatives to win.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/23/09 at 12:05

Giving Thanks for Private Property

FTA:
"The problem was that all of the men were indentured servants who had no significant financial stake in the fruits of their own labor. For seven years, all that they produced was to go into a common pool to be used, supposedly, to support the colony and to generate profits for the Virginia Company. Working harder or longer provided them with no rewards, so they shirked – and starved.

Bethell recounts how, in 1611, the British government sent Sir Thomas Dale to serve as "high marshal" of the colony. He immediately diagnosed the problem as the absence of property rights in the land, and subsequently determined that each man would be given three acres of land and be required to work no more than one month per year to contribute to the colony, i.e., to pay taxes.

Once private property was established the colony immediately began to prosper."

It's really an exercise in futility. The far right will NEVER come toward the center.
They will decry everything Obama thinks, says, and does. Poor guy cannot bow correctly to other Heads of State w/o getting criticzied. "He's too bent over"...GW Bush "kissed" the King of Saudia Arabia 1 year after 9/11 and held the guy's hand for their Crawford ranch tour. That was OK?
Bush's war(s) have helped Haliburton and Blackwater earn billions proping up fake, corrupt, puppet USA governments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
So, Obama blows billions too, but at least here at home. What's worse?
The whole game stinks, and you righties want a Sarah Palin in the WH. What, in God's name, would she do differently? Once in, the playing field changes. Elected Presidents adapt to the viewpoints and scene once in. Her "folksey", cute, "betcha", demenor would fly out the window in 4 weeks. Once her Chief of Staff said, "Putin, Line 1" she'd be a deer in the headlights. "McChrystal on Line 2, wants 60,000 more troops"...she'd cave.

Oh yeah, the entire Kennedy clan are Catholic. Well, I guess he'd better decide where he wants to be then huh.

Unless, of course, Sarah Palin becomes the next President of the US. LOL

By: Loner on 11/23/09 at 12:16

If Palin could not stand the heat in the kitchen of Alaska, she would not last long in the hot kitchens of Washington, DC. I could see her bailing out, another sacrifice for her family, of course. Leaving a mess for her veep to deal with. That is Palin's modus operandi. She makes a mess and then quits with indignation. Quitters and losers love her for that.

By: Loner on 11/23/09 at 12:22

We UU people are a welcoming congregation, even the dynastic democrat Kennedy would be welcomed in any UU church....and yes, we could surely use the money.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/23/09 at 12:23

Loner,

Kind of hard to do that as President...then again we had one other that did resign. Of course Congress could always attempt to impeach her as President...assuming she committed a high crime or misdemeanor.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/23/09 at 12:24

Loner,

Well, if you feel that way, I would have no problem with him changing faiths. Matter of fact, it sounds to me like he needs to, if he feels he cannot keep the faith with the Catholic church.

By: Loner on 11/23/09 at 12:33

Chief, if Mrs. Palin is ever elected to the POTUS position, the entire nation will be on the path to self-destruction.

She's another Joe McCarthy, only this time aropund the demagogue has a nice ass, gravity-defying tits and a perfect pearly smile.

McCarthy was just as ugly as his ideology was, Palin, on the other hand conceals the filth and ugliness with a superficial facade of feminine beauty.

Palin's a great deceiver with unbridled political ambition, as such she represents a danger to freedom and democracy, IMHO.

By: dargent7 on 11/23/09 at 12:37

Chief: You are truly a piece of work. A born, baptised Catholic, is just that. (Not a re-tread, like yourself). 50% of Roman Catholics, use birth control, eat meat on Fridays, do NOT go to confession, do NOT take Communion, have extramartial affairs, are not virgins on their wedding day, and have surgical abortions...and that's just for starters.
Mr. Kennedy is being made a scapegoat because of his high profile name and the current "abortion on demand paid for by the US government" clause in the Health care bill.

By: Loner on 11/23/09 at 12:40

Chief, high crimes and misdemeanors are routinely overlooked, it takes a blow-job to impeach a president nowadays. As a Republican, I'm surprised that you did not know that.

If Mrs. Palin was caught giving head, as head of state, would the Congress impeach her? What if she was caught having oral and/or anal sex with an aide? Would the GOP forgive her? Would they demand to see the tapes, over and over again? She's been rumored to sleep around...who knows?

By: dargent7 on 11/23/09 at 12:40

Loner: I believe you cannot say "gravity defying tits" in this newspaper w/o a rabbi present. I lost my woodie about last Thurs., but I'm getting it back.

By: dargent7 on 11/23/09 at 12:44

Loner: No sooner did I get "clearance" for "tits", but now you've sweetened the pot..."blow-job", "giving head",..."oral/ anal sex"...I might as well cancel my subscription to those sites I always lie about being on.

Get a grip on yourself, Darge. If you feel that you must take matters into your own hands, so be it. I did not mean to excite the prurient interests of my fellow posters. When I hear "impeach". I naturally think of Monica and Bill...I'm sure I'm not alone.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/23/09 at 1:00

Loner,

"Chief, high crimes and misdemeanors are routinely overlooked, it takes a blow-job to impeach a president nowadays. As a Republican, I'm surprised that you did not know that."

Ironic considering it was perjury that caused the impeachment of the president in question...not the fact he had oral sex...or did you forget that?

But I can understand the refusal to accept he was guilty of a high crime or misdemeanor.

"If Mrs. Palin was caught giving head, as head of state, would the Congress impeach her? What if she was caught having oral and/or anal sex with an aide? Would the GOP forgive her? Would they demand to see the tapes, over and over again? She's been rumored to sleep around...who knows?"

I doubt you'd get the chance to find out...much as it appears you would like to see this. IMO, she has far too much class to do anything like this.

By: chiefpayne568 on 11/23/09 at 1:01

What she does that a momma grizzly bear would not do, is that she put her children in harms way. She use them to farther her own ambitions. She displays them as jewelry. not realizing the harm she is putting them in.

Captain, you mean the same way all 'movie stars' and wanna be's like O'bama do? His kids are ever so often in the news. So were the kennedy's, etc. She took her children with her so as NOT to leave them at home. AMERICA wants to meet political kids. I know I do!

Decisions,decisons, decisions.

On both counts idgaf, I'm with you; support you 100%. Obama just shucks and jives (and that is not a racist statement); it's a reality check. He wafers and waffles; oooohs and ahhhhhs; clears his throat; says "now listen to what I'm tell you" but his speehes are empty; void of all solid, concrete decision making. I hate to break it to the Palinites, but that Bimbo did not write the book, a ghost-writer did. More than one ghost-writer may have helped out. No doubt, they are getting hush money to maintain their low profile(s).

Maybe it was the same ghost writer who wrote O'bama's book; how much hush yo mouth money do you think that person(s) is getting?

Better still, who'd he date BEFORE michelle? Before he was famous? Is she dead now? probably!

House,

True enough...but it does indicate whether they can hold their temper, how understanding they are, how well they do under pressure from whining. how well they take care of those who mean something to them.

Further, since children don't hide things as well as adults do, it would show insight into the person running for office.

Either you don't have kids or you don't see the possibilities.
