No fan of double standards
This is not a letter about being a fan of the Tennesee Titans (I'm not), but a letter of fairness. This is also not a letter of being a fan of Vince Young, because that is not the case as well.
I write this over unfairness to an individual [Young] who definitely did not deserve this; I refer to how Kerry Collins was allowed to quarterback a team to an 0-6 start — losing one game by an absurd score of 59-0.
There is no way that Young would have been allowed to quarterback a team through an 0-6 start. I feel he would have been allowed three, maybe four, losses to open the season, and then would have been yanked as the starter.
I'm almost certain there is a double standard in Tennessee with the Titans. As I've stated, I am not a Titans fan (my team is the New York Giants) nor a Vince Young fan, but I am a fan of fairness — being fair to a player and also to your team. Titans management let their team suffer and stuck it to one player, Young. That was totally unfair to him and to the Titans.
Their season would be so different, much more successful [if they gave Young a chance earlier]. In all fairness, I would feel the same way if the roles [Collins' and Young's] were reversed, but they are not.
