Seeing red over lack of Blue Raiders
I was dismayed and disappointed in The City Paper for making another colossal mistake for overlooking MTSU again!
Middle Tennessee State University, which has 26,000 students, was not mentioned in the Monday edition [Dec. 14] ...as usual. Instead of writing about a 9-3 football team (which is the best college record in the state this year at the Division 1-A level) that will be playing a 7-5 Southern Mississippi in a nationally televised bowl game on ESPN [in] prime time Sunday night, they have Larry Woody's "That's Racin" column about "Good Ole Boy" local stock car racing from Highland Rim Speedway.
The City Paper has no problem covering the University of Tennessee athletics which is 176 miles from Nashville. Granted UT has many graduates in Nashville, but not near as many as Middle Tennessee State University. You won't omit the Music City Bowl. You will cover the University of Kentucky and Clemson University, but as usual you overlook the largest undergraduate university in the state right down the road.
MTSU is in the Nashville Davidson County MSA and should be covered in The City Paper. Murfreesboro has a population of 75,000 and a county population of 150,000. Highland Rim is a very small town and is NOT part of the Nashville MSA. MTSU will be going for its 10th win of the season, over $1,000,000 in bowl winnings, and a possible ranking in the final AP and USA Today Coaches Poll. What happens at a local stock car track 20 or more miles away is not suitable for The City Paper.
The City Paper published its demographics not too long ago. As I recall the average reader has a four-year college degree and a median family income of over $50,000 a year. This demographic does not typically follow racing, especially local "good ole boy" racing.
I am sure the 25,000 plus MTSU graduates in Davidson County would much rather have a MTSU Bowl Preview column rather than a racing column about local racing not many in Nashville or certainly your readership care about. Maybe next Monday you will cover the outcome of the game.

sos, brrrk!
LOL brrrk.
I heard a Catholic Priest say that God is bigger than any religion.
Next on the Discovery Channel: "Waterboarding the Bible"...
house, we got a rabid dog in the fairgrounds opinion board.
The Catholic clergy ought to know a thing or two about torture...heretics were tortured until they confessed, then they were burned alive. Nice folks, those Catholic holymen. I understand they're much better today, if you discount the pedaphilia and the meddling in governmental affairs.
Funny that you bring up the story of Noah. I was thinking about that yesterday and of the theory about a great earthen damn that gave way and fill in what we now know as The Black Sea.
The are finding ancient artifacts of villages at the bottom of the that sea.
Well it's a good thing that all you "it's better to kill 10 innocent people just to get one guilty person" didn't have your way on this case.

That secret was kept from sid and chief. idgaf had his head stuck up his....well you know where. lol
from the news report i saw it was sloppy work on the part of the local PD. looks as though they were just trying to tie him to it regardless.
Just for shitz and giggles:
I just found this video on youtube. I must warn you, I laughed until I cried. It's about a chimpanzee learning to ride a segway, in Japan. The chimp actually figures it out...this is an outstanding video, IMO...and the "student" is an outstanding chimp. Here's the URL:

Blanket, you must be carrying a soupbone in your pocket.
From the circus we call the Senate, everyone stop while they read Sen. Sanders’ 767-page amendment:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate is in health care gridlock after a Republican senator forced the clerk to read aloud a 767-page amendment.
Coburn invoked his right to require that an amendment by another Democrat be read aloud. That sent the Senate into limbo, since the amendment by Vermont Democrat Bernie Sanders is 767 pages long.

BTW, think anyone should tell the AP that Bernie Sanders in not a Democrat?
lol, house! i must be.
Dragon, you expect news reporting to be accurate? lol! wow, bad on the AP.
That is funny Loner.
I have seen driver in Nashville that was not as good as the chimp.
Loner, unfortunately, the Segways for Chimps program is underfunded...
Sanders is the good Independent, Lieberman is the bad Independent, Dragon, though you see it the other way I around, I suppose.
Loner, have you seen any of the "Farting Sermon" videos on youtube?
They're a "must see".
Chimps on segways could act as Congressional aides...talk about outreach to the subculture....very PC.
I think that the chimps are next in line after we humans depart.
"very PC."
Projectile Chimpanzees?

You are right. Bernie Sanders is a self-described socialist.

One major difference.... Sanders takes no money from corporate PAC's... Lieberman is heavily funded by big medicine and big insurance AND his wife is a lobbyist. Explains a lot, doesn't it?
Does that mean he gets to choice any drugs he wants are just what they hand out?
Something just occurred to me.
Why is that right wing conservatives are so adamant that the Bible is absolutely necessary to controlling all the evil in man, but are just as adamant that corporations operate under no regulations? Anyone else see the contradiction here?
I think that Joe Leiberman may regret his action down the road. If not in the Senateor maybe back home.
well, i'm sure their logic is that if everyone is converted and is a "good" christian then the corporations will behave on their own without regulations.
yep, put down the crack pipe - lol!

It is in their breeding, brrrk. A box can not think outside of the box.
also, the smoke and mirror guise of a corporation being its own "individual."
oh, i didn't do that. my corporation did.
D@mmit! The corporation s**t on the rug again!
Bad corporation!
lol! yeah, i need to get me one of those! blaming it all on the dogs is starting to tick them off.
Chimp on a Segway makes news? That's nothing. The American electorate voted in a chimp to the Oval Office. Twice. (well once, if you don't count cheating).
Dargent,
Why I thought you LIKED Clinton. LOL

See
My son had one of those 3-headed dogs from the Harry Potter movies and I heard him blame it for farting once. I couldn't get angry that he was farting in company because I was laughing so hard I peed my pants! He won't ever live that one down!
Make me laugh you guys. I'm in the middle of a bitch fight with 2 of my girls and I'm about ready to tell them both where to go and how to get there!!!
SHB "girlfriends" same diff, I guess...
miami, via southwest airlines?
or hell via handbag?
Any of you folks notice on the Comcast headlines, "Tiger Woods voted Athlete of the Decade? His wife moved out two days ago after 14 "affairs" came to light. He's in seclusion, not golfing anytime soon. (besides banging cocktail waitresses, isn't that his job description?)
And last week Obama picked up his Nobel Peace prize a week after committing another 30,000 troops to wage a war in a desolate, worthless invasion of primitive tribes called Afghanistan.
Al Gore said yesterday the polar ice caps and Artic shelves will be melted in 5-7 years.
I think the Mayans were too generous in saying the world will end in 2012.
It's already gone.
I'm dusting off my Bible for some answers.
