Force fed

Had to watch — forced myself actually — Sarah Palin address the faithful at Saturday night's "Tea Party Convention." Was pleased when all the national media panned down the steets on Broadway [and] the bars didn't have their "Guns Welcomed Here" signs out.

Palin is a charismatic, effective public speaker, to be sure. She looks a lot better than Hillary in high heels. But, her content is an attempted throwback to "yesterday, and years gone by." Bigger military, an arrogant diplomatic posture, and pray for "Divine Intervention" when the chips are down.

She effectively, to the 600 attendees, [drew] rousing appreciation — everyone on their feet, with hand pumps and high fives.

A one-on-one question and answer session at the conclusion floated the idea of "President Palin." The interviewer said those two words "scare people." You bet they do. All of her ideas and rhetoric give people hope for something different that we bought into last election and like a little child, have become bored with our new toy.

It's always "something different; a change" that we vote into office. It was G.W. Bush as a change from the Clinton years. Then it was Barack Obama as a change from the Bush years. In 2012, it could very well be Palin as a change from the Obama years.

America has a short attention span.

Loner, don't forget to bring a towel.

I never realized until I read one of those posts on the EW site that Palin's kid is named Trig...and Down's syndrome is called Trisomy G...Is that pathetic...or what??

Why in the hell would you name your kid after the disorder they have???

Republicans gave a chilly reception Monday to President Barack Obama's invitation to discuss health care in a bipartisan, televised setting later this month

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100208/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_health_care

LOL - guess the last public smack down was too much to handle.

By: gdiafante on 2/8/10 at 1:50

Glad he's taking the fight to them, for once. Personally, I've had about enough of their obstruction.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/8/10 at 1:50

gosh, g. that's worse than talking about Lois!

By: MamaG on 2/8/10 at 1:51

I thought for the longest that she named her kids after where they might have been conceived: Bristol, in Bristol Bay, AK...I thought the kids name was TriP, and that he was conceived on one of her many "trips." I wonder if Trig is just a nickname for the kid or if it's his real name? Pathetic, yes.

Blanket, hope you find the baby this year!!!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/8/10 at 1:52

that would be a first for me, Mama!

By: sidneyames on 2/8/10 at 1:52

and last time I checked, the super bowl was between football teams in the USA, not international.
Thanks for the spelling lesson, mama; duly noted.

I said "international" because even my friends in Brazil are superbowl fans; plus the coverage in all of our military bases - I believe in "international" territory.

I realize the teams are USA. But then NO is a whole different world, isn't it? At least it's on this planet. I'm glad NO won. Couldn't have happened to a better team -- or city -- or state.

By: MamaG on 2/8/10 at 1:53

Slacker 54, where are you????? He must be out "giggin" lately!

By: MamaG on 2/8/10 at 1:54

I was mostly pointing out your misspelling of the word "international," sidney.

........................................................................................................................................................

The reason Palin name her son Trig after Trisomy G is because that was the only way she could remember the name of the Syndrome. Writing it on her hand was useless because she kept washing it off.

By: MamaG on 2/8/10 at 2:03

LOL, House! That's a good one! How many beads did you throw (or receive) last night? I had my son make me a sign that said, "Who Dat?--pic of the fleur de lis--Geaux Saints!" I rode around with it on my dash and my friends and I took pictures with us holding it! One friend's sis is in IN one's is in Baton Rouge. We were all pulling for NOLA though. It was an exciting game, for sure!

By: gdiafante on 2/8/10 at 2:05

I guess I'm the only one cursing NO this morning...huh (Note of explaination: Sean Payton was the O-coordinator of Dallas under Parcells, was in line to get coaching job after Parcells but NO got him instead and we got Wade...also...Dallas could have signed Breesus...)

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/8/10 at 2:15

that's awesome, MamaG!

By: Funditto on 2/8/10 at 2:29

I find it hilarious that one of the three things written on Palin's hand was "lift America's spirit"

And sid, when I get my son up for school in the morning, I don't "arouse" him. I wake him up.

Memphis had 4" of snow by 7am, and they expect 6-8" before it's over.
It looks like the storm may be headed our way.
Forget Kroger...I'm making a panic run to the liquor store.

By: gdiafante on 2/8/10 at 2:31

It's not headed this way, house.

But we will get to see a nice 3D version of Nashville on channel 5...(biggest WTF this city has ever seen...can't predict weather accurately but can simulate it...)

By: house_of_pain on 2/8/10 at 2:32

I thought Trig was short for trigonometry, which is what you need to calculate the odds of her giving birth to a normal kid.

Let’s promote a few of the conservative candidates of the GOP.

Yes, I do like Sarah Palin expressing her political issues. There are several in the GOP whom would make “great” Presidential and/or Vice Presidential nominees. A list included in but not limited too as examples: Tom Coburn (R-OK), Sen. Jim DeMint(R-SC), Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ), Rep. Michele Bachmann, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Rep. Virginia Foxx, Rep. Phil Gingrey, Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), Rep. Frank James Sensenbrenner, Jr., Gov.Haley Barbour, Former US Senate Majority Leader William H. "Bill" Frist, Former US House Speaker Newton L. "Newt" Gingrich (Georgia), Former Governor W. Mitt Romney (Massachusetts), Former US Senator Richard J. "Rick" Santorum (Pennsylvania).

Wow! What a list!

On a daily basis, I read, learn, copy, and paste; hoping to school others the life and vision of our founding fathers on my “blob”. It is so educational to see and teach from their private personal writings. There is hope America will retain these previous values and visions.

This along with a small amount of devotion helps make my day.

Funditto, the word "Arouse" when used as a verb means awaken, produce, stir up, stir, provoke, stimulate. So when I used the word arouse, I mean awaken which also means wake, wake up, rouse, get up.

So, when speaking the Queen's english, it's oK to say arouse without feeling like you've made an error. So maybe you did wake up your son; your son was aroused by you.

"Broken Condoms & Shattered Dreams: A Guide to Naming Your Baby"

By: sidneyames on 2/8/10 at 3:15

According to an article I read "The grandfather says Trig is named after his great uncle, a Bristol Bay fisherman, while the name Paxson comes from the well-known snowmachining area."

I would not wish that anyone would be given the destiny of being what you people refer to as "retarded". But when I volunteered with the special olympics, the competetors were so kind to each other, even going back in a foot race to pick up a fallen runner and cheering him on.

If only you people who criticize Sara Palin had to fill her shoes for even one hour, you'd fail. I may not vote for her as President, but I'd vote for her as Person of the Year; she's stronger than all ya'll posters tied together!

D7 said "Had to watch — forced myself actually — Sarah Palin address the faithful at Saturday night's "Tea Party Convention." Yeah, just like at 8:04 a.m. he HAD TO BRING MY NAME UP.

He loves Sarah Palin. He did not HAVE to watch. He wanted to watch. He could not keep his ears from listening and his eyes from watching. If he HAD to do all that, he sure is a weenie. I didn't have to watch; and I didn't watch. I don't have to watch Obama, but I do watch him, when I WANT to watch.

D7, you are the weakest link. Anyone who does what they don't want to do, is in need of help for assertiveness training. Man, get some help. We wouldn't want you doing what you don't want to do. REMEMBER: No means NO. So just say no to watching Sarah next time. She won't miss you.
