Letters to the Editor

Editor,

Excellent article in The City Paper, "Bar the Door." If accurate, almost unbelievable, to say the least.

Bar and nightclub "security" and bouncers randomly picking people up and physically throwing them out of the clubs seems exaggerated.

Then attacking them on the street without cause or provocation? Since I'm usually in bed by 10:00pm I haven't witnessed any trouble, especially at 2 a.m. "Last call" at 2 a.m. was always a rough time if my memory serves me correctly. Everyone is drunk and tired and become belligerent when the bar closes.

Unless these bars and clubs in question hire a bunch of apes from the zoo, they'll be sued blind and loose their liquor licenses.

Then passing a brilliant, comprehensive strategy, "Guns-N-Bars" legislation will only fuel the fire. If Nashville wishes to capture more of the tourist dollar and convention business, they'd better think long and hard of allowing loaded weapons into any place that serves alcohol.

I know of a couple of joints where sometimes it's the bouncer who gets thrown out after a brawl. I agree bars are no place for guns because after about midnight or 1:00 AM everyone morphs into Wyatt Earp.

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 5:43

So, is this where the gang will be roosting today?

I missed the conversation yesterday. This D"Argent LTE should spark some gun-lover blowback. Hey, guns and alcohol is an old American recipe for senseless violence. Now, the socialists are trying to away our right to be an A-hole.....Obama must go!

The South done gonna rise ag'in.....Yee Haw!

By: budlight on 4/27/10 at 5:48

Again I ask: How many of the incidents involving mishandling of customers had guns involved?

And again I ask; How many of the shootings in Nashville involved criminals with legal carry permits?

How many people with legal carry permits were arrested? And how many were arrested while drunk or drinking in a bar?

Legal carry permit holders are usually responsible law abiding citizens.

AND on another note: Goldman Sacs CEO will testify today that Goldman DONATED over 30 million to politicians - MOSTLY DEMO-RATS!. Yep, the bulk of the 30 million went to the famous democratic party members. How odd is that?

d7, "apes" is no longer PC...they prefer to be called "lesser-evolved people".

By: dargent7 on 4/27/10 at 6:02

Loner: The only thing you missed yesterday was quite possibly the dumbest post ever in recorded history.
Our very own "Sidiot" replied to the Steven Hawkin's warning to "not talk to aliens", she exclaimed, "Yes, he's right...deport all the illegals from the US".
You simply cannot make this stuff up.

By: dargent7 on 4/27/10 at 6:06

House: I prefer to use the quote from Charlton Heston in "Planet of the Apes".
"Get your filthy paws off me you goddamn dirty ape".
Of course, my wife used the same phrase.
But, in her defense, I did ask her to "talk dirty" to me.

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 6:08

John McCain took Hawkings' message the same way....he wants to stop beaming electronic signals into Mexico in the hope that if they do not monitor our broadcasts, they will forget about us and go elsewhere to rape, pillage and plunder. Remeber, McCain was a stalwart hold-out on the MLK Day law....losing to a black guy must have been galling to the old supremacist jackass....he's still extremely bitter over the loss to Obama.

By: dargent7 on 4/27/10 at 6:11

LoneWolf: I hope to God McCain looses to J.D. Hayworth this Nov. I want that senile old fool HUMILIATED.
Something odds going on in Arizona, anayway. And I thought Detroit was nuts.

By: yogiman on 4/27/10 at 6:16

Can you think of a better way to control the population growth? Our country is getting too many people on the streets in it. Simply go to the bars, get drunk and start a fight. That will help keep the population under control.

MCCain may have sealed his doom by championing the new AZ law that requires police to profile suspects. Give the knucklehead enough rope and he will hang himself, D7. I saw his warped mug on the TV this morning, he was yapping about the immigration crisis, like a senile Shitzu. I think he will go down in flames...an appropriate end to a hot-shot jerk-off....a man who, in the opinion of many, is due some long-overdue Kharmic payback. Good riddance!

Yesterday after the hate monger D-7 equals ZERO, blasted me for saying it was Illegal Aliens, this is my reply to him:

By: budlight on 4/26/10 at 4:48
D7 minus 7 equals ZERO! Of course I know who and what Steve H is. Anyone breathing knows that. BUT you, you had to talk negatively about a man confined to a wheel chair. You are so abusive and hate-filled. So for the love of God, STOP posting, yourself. I knew he was talking about ET. I said I I: (illegal immigrants) just to let you stir your poopie pot up. AND you bit! You are so predictible!
Love ya, honey chile'!

DDZERO you are a piece of work. A crappy piece of work. You speak and those who don't jump are your proverbial enemy.

So don't respond to my posts (as mama bear so eloquently states). Keep your nose out of my posts. AND do not call me sidiot. You D-generate!

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 6:26

Gotta make a run to the Junction...seee ya later!

Loner, I have friends in Phoenix. I hope all the ILLEGALS from there move to Nashville, so you and D7 can have a "true" experience of illegals. Nashville ain't seen nuttin' yet!

Our federal gov-ment has let this get out of hand. Thank goodness someone in Arizona had the "nuts" to stop being politically correct and get down to businesss to control the out of control illegal influx into their state.

One farmer said that 1/2 million illegals have been caught on his property since 1968; so that's a lot of trespassers on one man's property.

Yeah; ya'll put out the WELCOME to our city mat. Paul, let them move into your house!

By: house_of_pain on 4/27/10 at 6:29

Don't pi$$ off the bouncer at Java Junction, Loner...

By: dargent7 on 4/27/10 at 6:35

Sidiot: Your numerous inane posts are not "satire" and "jokes". You ARE that dumb, get called on it, and then re-think, re-group, and only then realize how stupid you were.
You fool no one, "budlight". Sorry, the truth stings.

By: dargent7 on 4/27/10 at 6:41

Yeah, "budlight", living in San Diego for 12 years didn't give me a first hand knowledge of Mexicans, legal or not. Go back to bed.

By: Funditto on 4/27/10 at 6:50

excellent idea yogi!

By: Funditto on 4/27/10 at 6:52

Well, sid. As long as they'll clean your house, raise your kids and mow your lawn for $5 an hour, illegals will always be welcome in Nashville. That's just the way it is.

Posting from the Java junction - Coffee Roasters and intellectual epicenter of Brockport, NY.

I left a couple of posts on the "History lesson" thread. I'm sure to pi$$ off the Confederate sympathizers....at the Junction, we don't need no steenking bouncers.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 4/27/10 at 7:36

what's your poison this morning, Loner? Sumatra?

By: bfra on 4/27/10 at 7:39

Blanket - Did you make it to the run on Sat.? I was out of town and thought of you and Funditto, when I heard about the weather.

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 7:41

Buffalo is more famous for its wings than its NFL team...the team should dump the Buffalo Bill Cody thing and rename the team the "Buffalo Wings".

I can hear Al Michaels now, "The "bawl" (Long Island accent) is on the Wings 1-yard line, this game of chicken has come down to this final snap...the crowd is on their feet."

By: dargent7 on 4/27/10 at 7:41

Nazix2: Actually when I was writing that LTE, I thought of you...my coaster for my coffee mug is a "Newcastle Brown Ale". ( really good sh*t).
Hope you don't mind reminding people of drinking beer, getting loaded, and getting laid when they think of you.

No, I'm not nearly in shape enough to even do a half marathon! I did have some friends who ran though.

LOL - not at all. that's funny. 8~)

BFRA - the event we're doing is on May 8 (at Shelby Bottoms) so keep those fingers crossed! I'd love for all ya'll to come. Bongo Java is providing coffee.

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 7:47

Bn, I am drinking half Costa Rican Tarrazo and half Mexican Organic Pluma, with cream and sugar. The owner, Pete Apicella, has just confirmed that I'll be on the Java team at the OUR fest at Brushwood in June...occasionally filllin' in for the boys doin' the grillin' at the Blue Lady Cafe at Brushwood Folklore Center. No money involved, free camping and free entertainment is my payment....that and the parade of T&A....life is good!

Drunks wave gun, get beaten up in karaoke bar

http://www.chinapost.com.tw/taiwan/local/taoyuan/2009/06/04/210780/Drunks-wave.htm

By: Funditto on 4/27/10 at 7:53

Yay - I'm so happy you said "grillin'" instead of "barbequeing." My new pet peeve is when people call cooking out "barbequeing" and call a grill a "barbeque." Barbeque is a food you eat - not a thing you do or an object you cook on.

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 7:54

Woody chimed in with this comment about guns in bars, "I bet the bands play better in those bars." Woody is one of the Loners...the cowboy blues band with a (Pink) Floydian slip....Old Loner sometimes performs with those guys using my 1923 Beuscher C-tenor....it's different, if nothing else.

By: bfra on 4/27/10 at 7:58

Fun - What event is this? Bongo Java has great coffee.

By: Loner on 4/27/10 at 7:58

Yeah, I be chillin' with the grillin'....Lord willin'. Just fillin' in, you understand.

By: Kosh III on 4/27/10 at 7:59

Loner? You've got a Beuscher? Cool. They are great instruments. I don't play but a good buddy has one and it sounds wonderful. He's also got a soprano and alto but just normal brands(Conn think)

By: bfra on 4/27/10 at 8:00

Fun - I also agree with you about the difference of grilling & barbequeing, Real barbeque is prepared in a pit.
