"The best thing that government can do to promote economic growth is to stay out of the way of people who create jobs,” [according to Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey].

Ah yes...the old inaction is action mantra... Everything corrects itself... Like the housing market... Oh wait...

Instead of jobs they can’t deliver the Tennessee GOP/Tea Party is now set on altering the minds of our children and telling people how they and who they can love.

I wonder if the Speaker(Lt. Governor) means such things as providing even
less in consumer protection laws, which are currently the fewest in the
nation, or less supervision by the state agencies currently charged with those
duties by state and federal laws! Most of these agencies have been
underperforming in those duties for many yrs. as well! While no enemy of
ethical business in this country, I also see no reason for building an "Alter" to
same on the Capitol grounds!!

By: dargent7 on 3/30/11 at 5:37

Cpt.: Just swing by. Pretend you're in "Hell Week" w/ the Navy SEALs.

By: house_of_pain on 3/30/11 at 6:05

You'll have to run the obstacle course to get to our table...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/30/11 at 6:08

Star Bagel, huh?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/30/11 at 6:09

By: Captain Nemo on 3/30/11 at 6:21

By: dargent7 on 3/30/11 at 6:30

Cpt. N: As you know, we Detroiters, if we loose a football game, (or win, doesn't matter) we overturn cars setting them on fire, break into buildings, smash windows, ransack homes, terrify children.....other than that, we're as gentle as kittens.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/30/11 at 6:39

LOL d7

By: yogiman on 3/30/11 at 6:40

Drive 50 miles to look at you guys? On a Sunday morning? Ugh! And then have to sit there and listen to you? Ugh! It might make me too sick to drive back home for hours.

By: yogiman on 3/30/11 at 6:43

Sorry, I should have made that "some of you guys." I'm sure some you of would be pleasant to chat (argue) with.

By: dargent7 on 3/30/11 at 6:43

yogi: As your personal physican: DON'T COME.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/30/11 at 6:53

By his post it sounds as if he wants us to beg him to come.

By: dargent7 on 3/30/11 at 6:55

s/h/b "Personal bored physican"....

By: Captain Nemo on 3/30/11 at 6:59

Beside, Star Bagel is for a freer think group of people, which would make yogi very uncomfortable.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/30/11 at 7:07

shb freer thing people. Enough coffee.

By: gdiafante on 3/30/11 at 8:13

Gdiafante, your poignantly pithy post piqued people's passions and interests....Bravo!

By: Loner on 3/30/11 at 12:26

I do hope that the NCP's very own "Koffee Klatch Kings" will call me from Star Bagel. We have the technology...the speaker phone mode will permit us to have some kind of real time verbal exchange. If you call just after 11:30 your time, I'll be doing the UU church coffee hour thing...it will dovetail nicely. Captain Nemo has my phone #, I got unlimited cellular.....BTW, do you like the acronym for Koffee Klatch Kings? It would look good on club T-shirts....leather jackets etc.

I've been posting here for years and I've often wondered what our posters actually look and sound like. I guess that's the attraction of a face-to-face sitdown in neutral territory.....let's face it, we all love one another, even our opponents, in this unique online community. It's what Marshal McLuhan predicted...the global village.

Why not invite Noseworthy, the webmaster at NCP....(last I knew, that is)...and Mike Burch too....heck, just invite the NCP staff to join in too. We could clear the air on HTML issues etc.

Or not.

By: Loner on 3/30/11 at 12:40

Brrrk...In the sixties, I saw Starr Bagel at the Old Palace, in Buffalo, NY....a real burlesque-era theater with live pit band, strippers and a comic....as I recall, I was just 17 years-old, on the 50-mile drive home, after the show, I composed one of my first blues tune, "The Blue Balls of Starr Bagel".

I don't know.... KKK? :-)

By: Loner on 3/30/11 at 12:56

Just order your coffee black.....you'll be fine.

By: Loner on 3/30/11 at 12:58

Or not.

By: house_of_pain on 3/30/11 at 1:22

Nice. Real nice...

By: house_of_pain on 3/30/11 at 1:52

Loner, I posted a msg. on your blog.

Well folks, when y'all get together this weekend, remember its a Sunday. No fighting should take place on Sunday. Especially in a public restaurant. You're supposed to just sit there and be polite and give everyone else the chance to speak (one at a time). Let them say at least two words before you interrupt.

And as you are wondering what they are going to look like when you go in, remember; beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And be prepared for many disappointing surprises.

By: Moonglow1 on 3/30/11 at 8:33

Moonglow1; Mr. Ramsey what corporations are creating jobs. It certainly isn't General Electric who paid no U. S. taxes yet received a $3 billion dollar refund from our government. And oh yeah that jobs thing. GE "brings good things to life" in China. Perhaps right here in TN Mr. Ramsey is employing "intelligent design" tactics to spur job development. Oh wait, perhaps Mae Beavers is working on job creation for birthers using that long form birth certificate. Saturday Night Live anyone: staring the TN Legislators & The Creationism Plan For Jobs. Pray Baby Pray. But don't forget to pass that collection box over to us Republicans now y'all.

By: yogiman on 3/30/11 at 10:45

Moonglow1,

Who was in the President's office, and what party was in power when the jobs of American companies started moving (mostly to China) in vast amounts? Who, and what party, was in office when many security secrets were SOLD OUT to China?

By: Moonglow1 on 3/31/11 at 9:53

Moonglow1: Yogiman: wake up!! It is 2011 & the Tea Party is at the helm. This means a free for all for corporations, kill all science because it might hurt corporate interests, strip you of your right to collectively bargain to reduce costs to corporations, stack the Supreme Court with right wingers to allow corporations to give unlimited funding to tea party politicians, provide incentives to corporations to locate jobs outside of the U. S., allow companies to pollute by reducing regulations & funding of oversight, manufacture the housing crisis to cause gov't to fail through loss of revenue, take away the right to health care, house our population in corporate prisons (1 in 100) are in prison, thumb your nose at the Constitution & state laws (Scott Walker), & the list goes on & on & on. Probably the most critical is the brain washing of Americans by corporate media control.
