If anyone had any illusions that the Tea Party was an actual new political party, rather than a far-right wing of the Republican Party, [the opposition to the proposed Metro nondiscrimination bill] should put that to rest. When the anti-gay Family Action Council of Tennessee considers the Tea Party to be an ideological ally and calls the Tea Party for support, what does that tell you?

"This is simply big government politicians and social scientists imposing oppressive regulations on business owners that will only open the door to harassment lawsuits,” the email goes on to say. “Nobody in these issues wins except for the trial lawyers"

Is anyone fooled by this sophistry? The Family Action Council's opposition has nothing to do with concerns over business regulations or lawsuits. It has everything to do with trying to hold the line on the culture war and stall the day that government officially recognizes that gay people have civil rights that the government has standing to protect.

This comment was not the best one published on that particular thread; in my humble opinion. Who gets to pull these comments out of context and then elevate them to this level? What criteria are used? Or are these randomly chosen vignettes?

"Baby, it's cold outside!" 7 degrees in the projects at Sylvan Park.
(now, is this a brilliant "comment", or what?)

It's 7 degrees F here too, Darge...it's supposed to go up to 22 degrees today, depressingly cloudy all day long.....this is typical for Feb.

Even the Honda car starts with a sluggish hesitation, then you can hear the top end clicking, because the oil in the pan is too viscous to flow for awhile....this raises hell with engines and hastens their demise.

I don’t like someone from Roberson County telling my law makers how to do business. There is enough of that going on with the lobbyist. They would not like it if we went there.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/11/11 at 6:26

Speaking of Tea Party; yogi will make some outrageous post and I will ask for proof. He will then start the name calling and I will ask for proof. He then will say for me to prove him wrong, which I can’t do because he has not given me any proof of what his outrageous lie was in the first place.

Did I miss anything?

Isn't this weather great?

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 8:15

nimrod,

Considering your 6:26 post, yes, you did miss something.

You constantly accuse me of lying to every post I place on this site. It's obvious you don't read what I read or listen to what I hear on the radio or see on the TV. Your obvious ignorance tells you I am lying about what I stated.

Personally, I accept any man's word as it is spoken unless I know for a fact he is wrong. Consequently, if I know he is wrong, I will tell him he is and give him the data to prove he is. How about you being a copy cat and proving I am wrong.

And by the way, please correctly spell the words you are using so I don't have to take so much time figuring out what you are trying to post.

By: bfra on 2/11/11 at 8:29

yogi - Re: your words: You have ranted & raved over & over about Obama. Obama is President of the USA and occupies the White House. NOW PROVE he is WRONG for being there! Prove he is wrong, or eat your own words.

By: gdiafante on 2/11/11 at 8:39

"And by the way, please correctly spell the words you are using so I don't have to take so much time figuring out what you are trying to post."

Pot, meet kettle.

brrrrk - I did too! yogi uses the word "fact", but doesn't seem to know what it means.

Heard this unbelievable comment regarding torture from some hard core right winger at CPAC....

"Anything that you can do to someone 37 times that doesn't cause death is not considered torture"

Has this guy listened to ANY Kenny G?

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 10:01

bfra,

My proof Obama/Soetoro is in that office illegally is the Constitution of the United States.

May I suggest you read the Constitution; Article II, Section 1, paragraph 5. It states:

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States,"

A natural born citizen must be born in the United States. Both parents must be American Citizens.

How can a man with a Kenyan father, who was under British rule, be determined to be a natural born citizen?

Upon questioning, Lamar Alexander wrote me stating Obama (if that is his name) had been investigated and found to be legally eligible. I never received an answer to my return question as to where they found that evidence and why it had not been passed on the the wondering citizens.

And by the way; it has been determined, by highly educated attorneys that John McCain wasn't legally eligible. So why did congress accept him? My argument? To hell with the people, we'll give them who we want them to have.

By: bfra on 2/11/11 at 10:07

Repeat - yogi doesn't know what "fact" means.

yogi - Blah, Blah, Blah repeated everyday, several times a day is dumb and very childish.

There again, children, facts are facts. I wrote that same question to Bob Corker but never received an answer from him. Didn't he have one?

And yet you wonder?!

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 10:29

bfra,

So you will know, I'm going to continue my argument until Obama presents his birth certificate to prove he is legally eligible for that office, whether you like it or not. If you don't, you can simply ignore any post I apply. Then you won't have to come up with a blabbered ridiculous each time.

Another question; why has Obama spent 2 million dollars keeping his records under lock and key? Is it because they will prove him to be illegal, or is he ashamed of who he is?

If you are so willing to accept an illegal person for that office you might as well replace that old Sears-Roebuck catalog with the Constitution in the outhouse because you are simply wiping your ass with it now.

I would not believe that Hosin' Hosni Mubarak is gone, just yet; this guy has yanked people's chains before. I would not uncork the champagne just yet, Yogi.

By: Loner on 2/11/11 at 10:50

Does Hosin' Hosni use "Just for Men"? That hair is too black for a dude his age....he just looks like a mean-spirited A-hole, to me....the lines on that satchel face are not laugh lines.

As long as Hosni did not "go Communist" or "threaten Israel" he could and did get away with murder....30 years of Emergency Rule and Uncle Sam never said jack about it.

I agree. This will not be over until Mubarak is far enough away from Egypt to break the puppet strings. As long as he stays in Egypt I predict it will just be SSDD.

Of course not.... there was no profit in it.

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 11:03

Loner,

I read where he had taken his family and left Cairo. The article I read also stated the people were celebrating his departure. I presumed he was gone and wasn't coming back. Of course, based on the past, time will tell.

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 11:07

And by the way, Loner, I quit drinking years ago assuming I was going to wind up on this site back then. I didn't want to get drunk amongst these "know-it-alls" on this site and show my ignorance like them.

By: Loner on 2/11/11 at 11:07

CNN sez Hosni is gone....looks like somebody peeled the right banana and the man is off to the resorts....let's hope that the Egyptian army slaps some kind of a hold on the man's bank accounts....they say his personal wealth is fabulous. After 30 years of siphoning off his percentage of US foreign aid (1.5 billion per year) one can be assured that he is frickin' loaded.

Let's say Hosin' Hosni siphoned of just one percent of the billion and a half every year for 30 years, according to my math, that would amount to 450 million USD. He probably skimmed off more than a measly one percent.

I wonder how much Hosni paid in Egytpian taxes.

By: gdiafante on 2/11/11 at 11:11

Yogi, what Obama supplied was legally valid and accepted. You being too stupid to face reality isn't my problem, so STFU.

By: Loner on 2/11/11 at 11:18

Good for you, Yogi. Booze can be deadly stuff. Of course, I was just using a stale metaphor (Champagne uncorking).

Let me re-phrase that with a football analogy:

I would not tear down the goal post just yet, Yogi.

As for the know-it-alls, you can be one too. Just Google search your facts, get credible sources, cut-paste your snippets and URL's, assimilate the info and then post a comment using Spellcheck to clean up your text. Using a few HTML tricks can put some frosting on that cake.....capeesh?

Who knows...maybe Barack Hussein Obama was born in Africa, in a mud hut with a dirt floor. Maybe he was delivered by a witch-doctor midwife figure and circumcized by a Muslim cleric, while half-naked savages danced around a community campfire to the sensual and pagan beat of many Gembay drums. Was the half-breed infant presented to the moon God as wailing tribesmen chanted a traditional blessing....all deep in some uncharted, steaming, African rain-forest.

I guess that could be.....

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 11:35

Thanks for the advice, Loner, but the only thing I know about this computer is how to turn it on, type into it and hit that send button. And, yeah, I can read from it. I guess one problem is I type too fast and this machine can't keep up with me.

I'm trying to get that massive amount of knowledge in my brain out to the rest of these people. I must hit the send button before the computer has it all in there.

bfra,

re your 10:37 post. I'm sorry you can't think as I do. You must blame God for that. If it isn't his fault then it's yours. You simply won't listen.

Revo delivers with a rim-shot-worthy snappy comeback.

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 11:56

revo-lou,

I'm using your ignorance is what to make my intelligence shine.

gdiafante,

In your comment at 11:11you stated; "What Obama supplied was legally valid and accepted...."

May I ask; What evidence did he supply? Do you mean a copy of a "Certificate of Live Birth" issued by the state of Hawaii, which only shows his (supposed) date and time of his birth, his mother's maiden name and her race as Caucasian and his father's name and his race as African? If that is all you have, may I ask; when did African become a race?

If you have knowledge of any other facts, please show me what they are. And my I repeat my question; If he is in that office legally, why is he hiding all knowledge about himself? What is he ashamed of for us to know?

I wish I knew as much about computers as you young'uns do. I have read and heard much you apparently haven't. But what the hell, you apparently don't care where this nation is headed. And may I reiterate; time will tell.

By: Loner on 2/11/11 at 12:01

I forgot to put a question mark after the word "rain-forest".

You see, Yogi, we all make typos, grammatical errors, omitted and/or repeated words etc. If you did not understand my posting advice, ask one of your grandkids to explain it, or better yet, Google the stuff you don't understand.

A URL is the online address of a webpage. It's the line, in the window near the top of your screen, that starts with: http:// (or something similar to that). To lift a URL from a page, just move your cursor over it and left click your mouse. This will highlight it.

Then you simply right click on your mouse, a window will come up. Move the cursor (arrow) down to "copy", (it will highlight) then left click the mouse to actually copy the URL.

Once you have that web address copied, you go back to the forum and paste it there, by simply doing a right click on your mouse. A window will come up. Move the cursor down to the "paste" line and then left click on it to paste the info down.

With a little practice, it becomes second nature.

Good luck.

By: yogiman on 2/11/11 at 12:07

brrrrk,

May I continue my argument?

I heard his paternal grandmother, in an interview with a preacher, state she was in the room with his mother when he was born. She further stated she has never been out of Kenya. In that same interview the Kenyan ambassador stated they were working on his home as a monument in his honor.

I saw his wife, talking to a group of women make the statement "We went through Africa to his homeland of Kenya." Why would she lie like that?

I don't know about you but my homeland is Tennessee and if I was in Africa I would go through the United States to get here.

By: revo-lou on 2/11/11 at 12:12

Keep showing us your ignorance yogi, it lets the rest of us know that we don't have it so bad.

By: Loner on 2/11/11 at 12:15

Yogi, that's hearsay evidence without any sources cited. To gain any credibility here, you will have to do better than that....that's just the way it is on these online newspaper forums. You have to earn respect for your opinions - it's not a given.
