So Obama's getting all the mileage and taking all the credit he can from the orchestrated demise of Osama bin Laden. It's a great diversion from our faltering economy, soaring deficit, outrageous gasoline prices and quarterly profits for Big Oil companies, lack of coherent foreign policies, etc. The sad reality is that it is pathetic that it has taken 10 years for the (supposedly) most powerful nation in the history of the world to accomplish this feat. Oh well, at least justice is finally served, if only temporarily. Next, I expect the radical Muslims will be seeking justice in retaliation for U.S. actions. Tit for tat, on and on and on.

Meanwhile, the U.S. political system remains broken, dysfunctional, and hopelessly gridlocked, preventing positive improvements for the shrinking backbone of this country, namely the disappearing middle class.

Where is the consensus-building and non-partisan politics that Obama promised us when he was campaigning for president? Ask yourself if you and your family are better off now than before Obama was elected. It seems to me that things have gotten worse, and our nation is beginning to witness the beginning of one of the most severe periods of inflation that we have ever seen. Those of us who have already had our retirement "nest eggs" severely damaged by drastically decreased real estate values and soaring health costs while living on fixed incomes just think we have seen hard times so far. Unfortunately, I fear we "ain't seen nothin' yet."

The devastation of our nation lies in the hands of only 535 individuals in Washington DC.

While the (used to be) Supreme court members are appointed, the members of the House and Senate, and the President's office, are elected by a majority vote of the American citizens.

While we all know they are elected to represent us, the have begun to assume they are elected (appointed) to rule (control) us (like parents?).

Much is being questioned why there is so much unemployment in our nation. I believe the major reason is the legislature controlling the competition of the businesses of our nation.

Why should a person, wanting to go in business place such a cost to set up such a business when the "government" determines who they can hire and sometimes, how many.

When our elected officials tell us what light bulbs we must use, what are they using for intelligence?

Are they next going to tell us how much water we must drink per day? Maybe not, but they will tell us how much more taxes we, our children and grand children must pay over our life spans on this earth.

By: yogiman on 5/3/11 at 10:49

Community-Carl,

You should know by now, there is no such thing as "consensus-building" nor "non-partisan" politics. There never has been and there never will be... in politics.

By: dargent7 on 5/4/11 at 5:13

The "devastation" to speak of rests solely upon the shoulders of the GW Bush Admin.
Obama ran on "Hope & Change", and by God he's trying.
Bush embroiled the USA in two wars, simultaneously, one completely fabricated, falsified, and a useless waste of 4,450 soldier's lives and a trillion dollars.

You Republicans need medical attentention.
9/11 happened on Bush's watch and you say it was Clinton's fault.
Obama inherits $10+ trillion in debt, and you say it's all his problem and doing.
Obama gets the job done on capturing bin Laden and you say it was mostly due to the brilliance of torture techniques invented and sharpen in the Bush Admin.
All your group is comprised of is quitters, crazies, and ego-miniacle businessmen.
You are a bunch of sore losers and will lose again in 2012.

By: yogiman on 5/4/11 at 5:43

Sorry dargent7,

You are the one who needs medical attention. Maybe you should visit a psychiatrist. Anyone who accepts someone as their leader whom they know nothing about and who wants to keep their personal under lock and key from the people they are supposed to be serving...... ah hell, I feel sorry for you.

By: gdiafante on 5/4/11 at 5:50

Darg is right...these people have mental disorders.

By: yogiman on 5/4/11 at 5:56

You can only speak for yourself, gdiafante.

By: dargent7 on 5/4/11 at 6:02

gD: This is for you:
I went to the Predators game last night *sigh*.....
What's with the: "beards women wear"?
And do have any of the phone numbers of those "Snow Girls" who shovel the ice?
I've got some ice over here they can shovel....and it's spring.

It is just amazing how after so long after the 9/11 attack and two wars to get the man responsible for it all, we get an out cry from the fringe right about Obama’s birth. The hate for Obama is greater than that of Osama. Make me wonder who are the real enemy of the UAS.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/4/11 at 6:12

Nemo, you are correct.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 6:14

Good morning Blanket how are you today?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/4/11 at 6:15

doing well. how 'bout yourself?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/4/11 at 6:16

carl, you give no credit to the defeatist GOP? it goes both ways. and WHO deregulated big business? it wasn't Obama or the dems.....

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 6:22

I have been very busy going and coming form Birmingham. I have seen some of the damage there but the worst of it. Taking a day off to catch upon thing to do here.

By: dargent7 on 5/4/11 at 6:28

"accepts as their leader, you no nothing about..."
I told you yesterday to "google" Obama.
But no, that would provide you with facts, figures, and his complete resume.
Then you'd have to let go of your blatant racism, and everyone on this board knows it.

You don't think Obama had to show his birth cert to attend Punohou H.S. on O'ahu, Occidential College, Columbia University, and teach at Harvard Law?
He didn't have to produce his transcripts, grades, referrences?
Those colleges let you get walk in and take a class?
I'm starting to question your birth records, scholastic records, grade point averages, mitary records.
I want to see them.
Prove your even an American.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 6:54

Thinking? That has nothing to do with fear d7. Thinking would mean that logic could prevail and those that hate never wants to consider something else. It would mean that they had to accept that they are wrong about something.

By: Mike Burch on 5/4/11 at 7:02

Should Americans celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden, or take a look in the mirror and finally admit the REAL reason for 9-11 and the current wars? I've written an article on the subject. An analyst recently pointed out that 90% of the people at the State Department agree with Muslim imams who say the US government was a major contributing factor to 9-11. This article explains why:

http://www.thehypertexts.com/Nakba%20Holocaust%20Palestinians%20Osama%20bin%20Laden%20Sitting%20Bull%20and%20the%20Twin%20Tower%20Terrors.htm

By: dargent7 on 5/4/11 at 7:16

Burch: You've GOT to be kidding! "Finally admit the REAL reason..."? "Agree with Imams the US government was a major contributing factor..."
Nothing the USA has done, was doing, or will do equates and rises to the level of a 9/11.
Flying 2 planes into into the Twin Towers indiscriminately killing everyone there, 2,900+, is beyond a rational discussion.
Add in the fact they were all psychotic Islamic extremists "doing it for Al'lah" and their collective prostituted definition of "jihad", only underlines and punctuates thier psychosis.
How you could possibly validate their actions as based on any rational reality?
Was Tim McVeigh correct then in bombing the Federal Building in OK City, based on his beliefs? Or Eric Rudolph bombing abortion clinics based on his religion?
According to your philosophy, they were.

Mike, you still have not addressed the imam from vanderbilt who agrees with killing gays. Guess that's too tough for you. Why am I not surprised?

No matter what side of the political fence you identify with, I think that we can all agree that there are many individuals in both major political parties who hold back forward progress for the GREATER GOOD of all U.S. citizens because of mindless partisan political allegiances and ongoing self-serving motivations and actions.

If politicians directed their energies and actions toward working cooperatively to solve our nation's problems rather than wasting time catering to self-gain, special interests and campaign contributors, we would once again be able to enjoy increases prosperity and hope for the future.

I personally vote for the person, not the party affiliation.

By: yogiman on 5/4/11 at 7:49

Welcome to the voting club, Community-carl.

And by the way, dargent7, I voted for a black man in 2008. I guess I didn't notice his race when I went into that voting booth.

Should I look more diligently next time? Following your reasoning, I could use that as an excuse not to vote for "your boy".

By: revo-lou on 5/4/11 at 7:49

This is a weird day indeed.

I can agree with carl's 8:38 post, and disagree with Mike's 8:02.

Did something hit the earth and knock it of it's axis?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 7:50

So true Carl and I have taking into account this fact and look at both side now. I will vote all Democratic for until the number count shifts back.

I use to vote the same Carl, but if there is an R by there name, I will continue not to vote foe that person. The Republican part has been taken over by radicals. If this was in a Middle Eastern country, they would be called Al Qaeda.

By: gdiafante on 5/4/11 at 7:57

There is no excuse for hijacking four planes and flying three into buildings killing innocent civilians, which include children. NO EXCUSE.

IMO, if all the hijackers and planners burn in Hell for eternity they are getting off too light.

By: revo-lou on 5/4/11 at 8:03

DAMN TRUE that gd!!

By: dargent7 on 5/4/11 at 8:07

Burch had better step up and defend his assinine concepts about 9/11.
I don't care about "Christian" religions or Islam if anyone can validate what these 19 psychos did on that day. In the name of God, Al'lah, jihad, bin Laden or whomever.

By: budlight on 5/4/11 at 8:42

I tried to read Burch's comments on his link. I agree that the American Indians were sorely mistreated. But I'm with D7 when he said "Burch had better step up and defend his assinine concepts about 9/11."

No one had the right or valid reason to do what was done on 9/11.

By: yogiman on 5/4/11 at 10:37

War used to be considered war by men going into combat for their home country in uniform. You could tell who was who and made every effort not to harm a civilian.

Today? Furgit it! America's combat teams are in uniform but they don't know who the hell they are in combat against when the meet their "enemy".

And I have read of reports where US soldiers have been court marshaled when they fired at an enemy that using a woman as a shield.

I think much of that is why my nephew took his discharge.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 10:45

Where did you read that report yogi?

By: gdiafante on 5/4/11 at 12:22

Nemo, yogi states he's read of reports...which means that some conspiracy website said so.

By: revo-lou on 5/4/11 at 12:46

By: budlight on 5/4/11 at 1:25

Great place to eat: Smyrna Town Center - Mon - Friday Buffet all you can eat for $7.00 which includes Tax and Beverage. Food was awesome. Starts at 11 a.m.; ends promptly at 1 p.m. Worth a drive. Food was fresh and good; had roast beef, chicken, rice, green beans, mixed veggies; great salad bar; fruit; deserts including tthe most awesome applie cobbler and pies along with soft serve icecream with toppings. Best kept secret in TN.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 1:42

The Health Department closed down Smyrna Town Center, because of troll droppings. lol

By: yogiman on 5/4/11 at 2:03

Sorry fellows,

I don't believe I have the same brain system as you all. When you think; 'If I didn't read it, it wasn't written'. And 'if I didn't hear it, it wasn't spoken', and 'If I don't already know about it, it didn't happen'.

Since several of you seem to have comparative intellect I've decided to make a different approach; Simply ignore you and your constant negative comments you seem to feel compelled to make, to and about me, for whatever reason known only to you.

I will continue to post comments I think some intellectual people might want to read and read those posts I note from intellectual people.

By: gdiafante on 5/4/11 at 2:08

"I will continue to post comments I think some really stupid people might want to read and read those posts I note from completely idiotic people."

Fixed

Yes, I feed the troll...I'm bored.

By: revo-lou on 5/4/11 at 2:12

Maybe so gd, but that was funny anyway. And, it went over his head, again, so it is okay.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/4/11 at 2:52

Sure it went over his head, he has got his head up his butt.

Now when we take a good look at this confusing jumble, we can start to understand how his brain (I say brain for lack of a better term ) can take a simple paragraph and come up with crap

We will pray for you and Captain Nemroid. I doubt either of you would recognize "intellect" if it hit either of you in the head with a 2x4 (two by fo).

Have a nice evening Yogi.

By: revo-lou on 5/4/11 at 6:55

budlite, the only difference between you and yogi is that your post don't resemble ramblings of a drunkard. They are still chiberish of course, but just not drunken chiberish.

And please do not pray for me, as I couldn't begin to imagine what kind of crap you would want for me, so I will stay as I am, thank you.

By: budlight on 5/4/11 at 8:36

Revo, I pray the same for everyone - that they (you) have peace, love and prosperity. It's sort of generic prayer, but from the heart for those I don't know.

Remember tomorrow is National Prayer Day. Pray for our nation to heal and to move forward in love and peace. Pray for our leaders that they have an awakening to the holy spirit and a higher calling for our country.

You can "stay as you are"; you don't have to do anything just because someone prays for you.

I don't drink or do drugs so therefore my gibberish is sober! Good night, ya'll!

Good night yogi wherever you are God Bless You and Yours.
