[Belmont's move to the OVC] may be a small step up, but when you play basketball in a one-bid conference, it would make sense to play in as weak a conference as possible [like the Atlantic Sun]. I don't think Belmont will be able to [as easily] go undefeated in the OVC [in men's basketball] as they could in the A-Sun. I wish them the best, but a roadtrip to Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State in January or February won't be quite as nice as the Florida swing has been.

No idea what this Lte. is talking about.
Vanderbilt's graduation last Friday was a blast.
All the underaged grads and their irresponsible parents went thru 1,000 bottles of champagne.
Not one tip.
I came back on at 5:00pm and no one committed to Sunday's, "Prayer in Hell" group so I didn't show. I assume it's disbanded.

By: house_of_pain on 5/16/11 at 4:27

I called you from Neighbors on Sunday, d7.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/16/11 at 4:55

house,I had no idea we were meeting Sunday.

It is pretty obvious to me you are right in line with Barry Soetoro, a k a Barack Hussein Obama in subjecting our nation into communism.

If you want a government to tell you how to live every point in your life like a parent, hell, go to one of the communist nations of today. You could easily pick China. But they don't let you "grow up" and mature in a communist nation.

After all, you wouldn't have to worry about what you wanted to buy over there since our government has sold us out to them on just about everything that used to be "made in America". I'm sure they would love to have you.

A simply question: Just what do you actually know about this man except that says he is Barack Obama?

I don't mean what you have heard him say. I mean; how deep have you looked into the situation?

Love him if you want, but friends have also became an enemies.

By: house_of_pain on 5/16/11 at 5:04

I guess we all forgot to bring it up Friday. Oops.
The back deck at Neighbors is nice. Blanket & I checked it out on Saturday.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/16/11 at 5:07

This man and I use the word man loosely; hate Obama so much that he thinks the people that voted for Obama are racist. I can only speak for myself. I despise BIGOTS and yogi is a ninja -master of bigots.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/16/11 at 5:12

I should have come, but I don't think I would have looked there. Next week I will look. Does Neighbors serve food?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/16/11 at 5:16

Got to run, now.

Here is another rant from yogi. Maybe you can understand what the 4th white president means.

By: yogiman on 5/15/11 at 7:45

You cannot name one post where I insisted Obama was born in Kenya. Actually, no one knows where he was born. On.yu a person with your lack of mentality would accept a person in the highest office of this naiton.

You may claim its because he is the first black 'president' of our nation. I claim he is the fourth white president of out nation. He is a liar and fake in that office.

Why should anyone believe he was born in the US when he is using a false SSN and shows a fake birth certificate, only after letting an honored service man serve in prison for questioning him by asking proof of his eligibility to hold that office.

By: house_of_pain on 5/16/11 at 5:18

They have a limited menu right now. Wilson(the guy that runs the place) is still working on that. They already know Blanket & me by name. Almost all the customers walk there, but there is parking around back.

By: Beernazi on 5/16/11 at 5:22

Mornin', folks. Neighbors is great. Very laid back neighborhood pub vibe and a really impressive selection of beer and a full bar. It'll be nice when the full menu is up and running but for now you can get chips and salsa/guac and there's a few sandwiches on the menu. The back deck is awesome.

By: dargent7 on 5/16/11 at 5:27

"Actually, no one knows where he was born..."
I believe the info is on his Birth Cert. Yogi doesn't think Hawai'i is a legitimate state.
Now, if yogi continues to think it's a forgery, or Hawai'i isn't a state, that's Einstein's definition of insanity.

By: dargent7 on 5/16/11 at 5:53

People have to remember the Birthers, Tea Party, Townies all sprang up starting in Feb. '09...ONE month after Obama was inagurated. "Take back, WHAT? A legal election?
Where were they when GW Bush stole the 2000 election?
Where were these, "We, the people", when GW Bush invaded Iraq?
Never has a President before Obama had to produce a Birth Certificate.
It's purely based on race, and it's pathetically obvious.

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 5:54

You are only skimming what I post. How about reading it. Obama's birth PLACE has not been questioned. His legal eligibility to hold that office is the question.

If you have a brain in that skull consider this: Why did the Senate question John McCain about his eligibility and give him the OK because both of his parents were American citizens. And Obama voted in his favor because of that. But only one of Obama's parents is an American citizen. Under the laws of 1961, his mother could not pass citizenship to a child at the age of 18 and if his father was in fact a man from Kenya he would not have both American PARENTS. Notice that, both parents as American citizens.

And don't you wonder why they questioned John McCain but did not question Barack Obama?

Another question: why did he let an honored soldier go to prison because he wanted proof he was eligible to serve as Commander in Chief? Why did he show a "birth certificate" later.

Really, what do you know about the man? Or don't you care who is sitting in the highest office of our nation with the intent to destroy it?

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 6:01

You say Obama is being held accountable because of his race. Well, what race is he? If one of his parents was white, how can he only be considered black?

And is race the only reason the majority of the black Americans voted for him? It is a poor reason to vote for anyone simply because of their race. But you can bet your bottom dollar he would not have been elected if an overwhelming number of white voters did not vote for him. But did they vote for him because of his race? Then they acted as stupidly as their black neighbors.

By: treehugger7 on 5/16/11 at 6:02

I can see this is a really importatn topic. Who cares?

By: dargent7 on 5/16/11 at 6:05

McCain WAS NOT born on American soil. He was born in the Panama Canal Zone.
But, because it was "wartime", it counted as an "American" birth.
A technicality, but legal.
His parent's nationality had nothing to do with it.

By: BeenFranklin on 5/16/11 at 6:06

To all the MORONS -- The President was born "over seas" that does not mean he was not born in the US!!

By: dargent7 on 5/16/11 at 6:14

yogi: Obama is half white, genetically. There's a picture of his mother holding him when he was 2 years old in Hawai'i in Newsweek. She's lily white. He cannot pass for white. America will always be race based.
Whites voted for him because of his intellect, educational credentials, and charisma.
He has a charming, educated wife and two kids. A good, loving family man.
McCain was an old, bitter man who wanted more wars. His running mate, Palin, was an inexperienced dunce. McCain's claim to fame was that of a POW in Hanoi 40 years ago. No one cares about Vietnam any more.
Add it all up, and he won, hands down.
Regardless of his race, color, or creed.

By: dargent7 on 5/16/11 at 6:17

Hawai'i is "over seas"? Since when?

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 6:32

You mentioned his "intellect, educational credentials, and charisma". When did you see his "educational credentials"? They have been kept under lock and key since before he ran for office. Why hasn't anyone who was a classmate in one of his "so called" schools come forth with a good word for him?

Why has he spent millions of dollars to keep his records secret?

And, yeah, about that "new" birth certificate. Consider this: If he was born in Hawaii and adopted as a child by a man from Indonesia, why would his current birth certificate remain as a Hawaiian certificate? If Lolo Soetoro became his stepfather and he could only be enrolled in school in Indonesia as a Indonesian citizen, why would Indonesia take him in as a special? What citizenship did he use for a passport to go to Pakistan when Pakistan would not accept "Americans in the land?

dargent7, let's forget about this race issue. Let's only consider the legal issues. Just who in the hell is he?

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 6:42

He's the President, yogi. Legally recognized by all branches of government, including the judicial branch.

No matter how much you hope and pray that it's not true, it is.

Let's do a forum vote, how many say that yogi should cease his idiot rants?

By: house_of_pain on 5/16/11 at 6:47

The birth certificate routine is stale. Try juggling chainsaws, while singing "Heart & Soul".

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 6:54

Let me make another couple of points about this man and this issue, dargent7.

I saw a picture of him standing with his hands clasped over this crotch when the others in the group had their hand over their hearts pledging allegiance to our flag. And at that time, he refused to wear a lapel pin of the flag.

I later saw a picture of him and Michele "supposedly" with their hands over their hearts. I presumed pledging the allegiance, but..... guess what? They had their left hands over the the right side of their chests, not over their hearts.

I first thought someone had faked it, but looking closely I noticed the lapel flag over his left breast as normal, and they both hand their wedding bands on the left hand fingers.

I'm still wondering what that meant.

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 6:57

I'm thinking we can get yogi put in a home due to dementia and general stupidness. Who's with me?

By: Loner on 5/16/11 at 6:58

Good morning, Nashville!

The Reader Comment is commenting on an esoteric point with a text full of obscure , arcane acronyms and editor-inserted, parentheticals.

Other than that, it's fine.

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 7:07

Just because he is sitting in that office does not mean he is in there legitimately. And it should make true Americans wonder why he is so secretive about his records and waited so long to issue a paper he claims to be a birth certificate.

Go to my prior post about his Indonesian citizenship. He could return to his American citizenship but he could not be considered a natural born citizen, according to the Constitution, after once giving his citizenship up.

And may I quote him? "The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are the people with something to hide".

So, why doesn't he disclose the truth and show his records to the public? I can guarantee you, it would surely close the issue.

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 7:11

"I can guarantee you, it would surely close the issue."

No, it wouldn't and you're a liar. You said the same thing about the birth certificate. This isn't about the truth, it's about stupid people who cannot comprehend that an African-American with the name Barrack Hussein Obama could be President of the United States.

By: Loner on 5/16/11 at 7:11

Yogi is upset because Obama was not wearing a US flag lapel pin...Yogi does not complain, however, when all of our presidential candidates, including BHO, make the required pilgrimage to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and don the Jewish yarmulke, before kneeling in prayer to the Jewish God. Go figure.

Funny how irrelevant things get trumpeted in the right-wing media, while significant items are overlooked and ignored. Helen Thomas explained and demystified the relationship between the US media and their overseas handlers.

Notice, for example, the fact that the IDF shot and killed over a dozen unarmed Palestinian demonstrators over the weekend, with dozens gravely wounded, yet these state-sponsored murders and maimings are not front-page news in the USA. It's all over the European, ME and Asian media, but the story is subdued in the states.

Yogi, like so many others, gets upset over what he is told to get upset over.

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 7:24

As I have noted before, Obama is one of the best actors and biggest liars I have ever seen on TV.

And the fact that you people are so willing to welcome a person into the Oval Office without knowing who he is makes me wonder about your intelligence and just how truly you are Americans. If you are socialist, fine. If you are communist, fine, you've picked the one for the job.

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 7:26

When did Obama go to Israel, before or after the election?

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 7:28

Someone call the Guiness Book of World Records...yogi may be setting the record for the longest temper tantrum in history.

"But he's not the President...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 7:40

You better hold your breath, gdiafante, so you can cry as hard and as long as you want later when the facts are brought out.

By: revo-lou on 5/16/11 at 7:44

Good lord, your brithers have been saying "when the facts come out" for over 2 years now! The facts are OUT. The biggest "fact" is that you nut-jobs can't accept that Obama is the US President!!

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 7:56

What facts? You mean the long form birth certificate? It's tears.

What else? The "laws of 1961"? Nope...nothing there either...U.S. law states that anyone born in the United States, regardless of their parents, are considered natural born and eligible to run for tears.

What else? He reads a teleprompter, therefore but be reading someone else's script...yep...he do every politician...nope, no tears...

What else? Oh, he's Muslim...nope, he isn' tears...'s something...he isn't your guy...ah, there's the rub...but hey, that's your problem, not tears...

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 8:03

We aren't simply "birthers" as you state. We are Americans that want only a legitimate person in that office.

It is apparent our brains do not work like yours and the others who are so willing to accept someone for that office you know nothing about.

Haven't you ever wondered why he has spent millions to keep all of his records under lock and key? Or don't you care?

Just look into some of the known facts on him. How, and where he was raised in his childhood. Some of the statements he has made about himself in his book "Dreams from my My Father". And his father was a Muslim and a communist. Is he taking after his father?

Don't you wonder why he has so many communist friends? Don't you wonder why he has so many Muslim friends? Have you not wondered why he speaks the Muslim religion so well? Don't you understand the goal of the Muslim world? Or don't you give a damn?

When did Obama go to Israel, before or after the election?

Before the election,'s "required" of all candidates. Here's a source that you might like, Yogi, it's on the far right fringe...the story has a photo of candidate Obama at the Wall with Jewish skullcap:

Here's a link to more images of BHO in a yarmulke:

By: Loner on 5/16/11 at 8:26

Just imagine the uproar, if Barack Hussein Obama visited Mecca and donned the Arab prayer head-wear. He'd be impeached, if not snuffed by Navy SEALS, or the Mossad. FOX News would never let that image would be used to destroy the president. Millions would march in the streets.

But, the POTUS, and/or presidential candidates must visit Israel and don the Jewish prayer head-wear, if they hope to be elected. It's a prerequisite.

There is something very wrong about that peculiar double standard.

The American Founders would be dumbfounded to witness this public display of presidential fealty to a foreign power and their deity.

Those who criticize this paradigm are branded as bigots. Go figure.

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 8:39

Yogi, if the President was Muslim, that doesn't exclude him from being eligible for office. Neither does being a Communist or Socialist; any associations with others or content of school records. Any arguments based on this is completely irrelevant to the legality of the office.

The only remaining issue would be his birth, and as I've established, it is no longer an issue.

In other words, you fail miserably.

By: yogiman on 5/16/11 at 8:42

You hit the nail right on the head, Loner. He went there and went through that little act in a solicitation of their votes. And he might go back next year... to get more votes. But you can bet your posterior he is on your side normally.

As a man who bows to the "rulers" of the mid-East.

Ah yeah, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. How many have you felt you "loved" that you didn't know? I can only think of one in y'alls cases; Barack Hussein Obama. I think that's his name.... but I'm not sure. Are you?

I gotta go to town. I'll get out of your way, temporarily

By: Loner on 5/16/11 at 8:47

"My side"?

By: revo-lou on 5/16/11 at 8:48

{yogiman on 5/16/11 at 9:03

It is apparent our brains do not work}

Finally, we get to the crux of the problem.

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 8:48

What? A politician pandering?

By: BenDover on 5/16/11 at 9:06

It's tough enough to avoid the Yogi posts without you reposting them Nemo.

By: BenDover on 5/16/11 at 9:09

BHO has a lot of things he's actually done that deserve substantial criticism yogi. Why don't you focus on that rather than his place of birth... something he had no control over.

BHO deserves to be criticized on his own merits not the stupid birther distraction.

By: BenDover on 5/16/11 at 9:15

Like where the hell is that $700,000,000,000 in TARP repayments?

Even if it was used to offset the ridiculous pork stimulus package shouldn't we be back to deficits in the hundreds of Billions now rather than $1,500,000,000,000 range every year for all the foreseeable future? Wtf? I mean that's a valid criticism, yogi.

The guy can't help where he was born... or even the fact that he was raised by a bunch of commies, yogi... but he can be held accountable for being a brainwashed Frankfurt School disciple because a little common sense should have led him to different conclusions and decisions as president.

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 9:30

As I understand it, Ben, only $411 billion was lent and we've recouped $287 billion. Are you thinking we loaned the entire amount?

I think a more valid criticism is why we extended the Bush Tax Cuts which cost about $1.3 trillion.

By: gdiafante on 5/16/11 at 9:33

So, in summary, we can basically attribute the out of control deficit to three things:

Wars, tax cuts for the rich and corporate welfare.

By: brrrrk on 5/16/11 at 10:31

dargent7 said

"Hawai'i is 'over seas'? Since when?"

Don't tell yogi.... next he'll think Don Ho wasn't an American.

By: Loner on 5/16/11 at 11:10

Danno and the Hawaii Five-O cops were not Americans and the venue was overseas, not in a US city or US state? Who knew?

They spoke damn good English.

Gd is right, the tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate welfare and expensive elective wars have caused these massive deficits. I'd add de-regulation, which could be considered a form of corporate welfare. Of course, Bush-Cheney oversaw the tanking of the economy and the financial meltdown, prior to passing the baton to Obama.

Mr. Obama has done a great job, considering the obstacles he faced and still faces. If he wins a second term, I hope that he acts with less regard for the special interests and with more regard to doing the right thing...he's smart enough to know the difference...Junior Bush, on the other hand, consistently deluded himself into thinking that the special interests were advancing the public's interests.
