Study: fast food, boob tube bad combination

Remember when you thought eating chicken nuggets was healthy? Ah, for the good ole days.

Saturday another study was released that states what for most of us is obvious: Eating fast food is bad for you. This study couples fast food with couch potato time in front of the TV.

The study was conducted by researchers at Boston's Children's Hospital. It was based on a 15-year follow-up of 2,027 whites and 1,726 blacks between ages 18 and 30 in Chicago, Minneapolis, Birmingham, Ala., and Oakland, Calif.

It found that whites who consume fast food twice a week or more have a 50 percent greater risk of obesity than those who eat fast food once a week or not at all. The study also found that the risk of both obesity and abnormal glucose control triple for those twice-a-week fast food consumers who also spend at least two-and-a-half hours a day in front of the tube. Abnormal glucose control often foreshadows diabetes.
