Viewpoints: 9/11 conspirators shouldn't be tried in federal court
U.S. Senator Bob Corker ( R-Tenn.) is cosponsoring bipartisan legislation to prevent the use of Justice Department funds to prosecute Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and the 9/11 conspirators in federal court. The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) currently has 18 co-sponsors. Here are Sen. Corker's comments:
“Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other al-Qaida terrorists should not be given the same rights as American citizens, and they should not be tried in a federal court.
“Congress responded to the 9/11 attacks by authorizing the use of military force and by developing a military commission system to detain enemy combatants and try those who violate the laws of war.
"Military commissions provide a fair standard of justice, reflect the true status of these terrorists according to U.S. and international law, and are the proper venue for the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks.”

D-U: I believe you are wrong. Just like a prosecutor withholding evidence or a cop planting evidence, the USA got it dead wrong, 100%.
The USA wanted revenge for 9/11. Bush & Co. knew the American people expected some sort of action. Especially a vilent, tit-for-tat, one.
Saudia Arabia was the only logical choice, but Bush couldn't very well attack "them".
They needed a patsy, and since Iraq had the 2nd largest oil fields on planet Earth, it all fell into place.
Truman's dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan might of been overkill for Pearl Harbor, but at least he got the right country.
GW Bush will always be a paraih as a former President because he screwed it up, and most thinking minds know he did it on purpose. ("faulty Intel" is a b.s. reason).
Congress went along, assuming the freakin President knows what he's doing.

D-U: OK, but Congress declared war on the WRONG country. They new. But if any came forward, except for Barack Obama and a couple of vegans like Kusinich, they'd be labeled a traitor and a Communist. Maybe they felt Bush & Co. DID know something they didn't.
I don't fault Congress, the whole enchilada was at Bush's/ Cheney's doorstep. The bloods on their hands.
