Viewpoints: 9/11 conspirators shouldn't be tried in federal court

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 12:04am

U.S. Senator Bob Corker ( R-Tenn.) is cosponsoring bipartisan legislation to prevent the use of Justice Department funds to prosecute Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and the 9/11 conspirators in federal court. The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) currently has 18 co-sponsors. Here are Sen. Corker's comments:

“Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other al-Qaida terrorists should not be given the same rights as American citizens, and they should not be tried in a federal court.

“Congress responded to the 9/11 attacks by authorizing the use of military force and by developing a military commission system to detain enemy combatants and try those who violate the laws of war.

"Military commissions provide a fair standard of justice, reflect the true status of these terrorists according to U.S. and international law, and are the proper venue for the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks.”

Mormons/ Latter Day Saints, Christian Scientists, or Catholics?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:01

that could be an added attraction to the traveling tent revivals.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:01

it feeds off the same demographic.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:02

Shows what you know, Darge. My ring tone is "The Magic Flute"...

The Scientologists are now in Haiti. They're promising not to hand out free copies of "Dianetics". True story.

taxes aren't so bad after all, huh?

By: dargent7 on 2/3/10 at 2:05

...you told me it was "Moonlight".
But, then again, you once said Sid was a welcomed addition to this board.
Maybe you meant "chalk board", as in "nails across it"?

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:06

It was, Darge, I have been known to change it now and then...a few weeks ago I had "Battery" by Metallica.

Did I really say that about Sid? Was I on acid at the time? Pain killers?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:08

whatever it was you didn't share, g.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:08

i do vaguely remember that comment. perhaps you were drinking at the time.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:09

Hell I don't even remember it...must've been good stuff...

By: dargent7 on 2/3/10 at 2:09

You know what the MC said about that brown acid at Woodstock.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:10

I don't remember Woodstock either...

By: dargent7 on 2/3/10 at 2:14

G: You're also on record as saying "Chief" is a thoughful, intelligent man, with great vision and acuity. I think I took the same acid as you.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:15

no.......did g really say that????

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:17

I never said that. I would never use "acuity" to describe someone. Especially not Chief.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:23

yeah, even when we were posting definitions you never used "acuity."

By: dargent7 on 2/3/10 at 2:25

No. Gdia never said anything my posts said.
What he did say, however, was, "you can all kiss my ass" many times.
I think we can agree on that.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:27

i thought it was "kiss my ass, bitch" but i could be mistaken....

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:32

I'm having memory loss...I thought I said, "kiss my b!tch, ass!"...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:33

another beer should clear up that dyslexia, g. give it a try.

By: Dragon on 2/3/10 at 2:36

The agnostic, dyslexic, insomniac.

Lies awake at night, wondering if there is a dog.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:37

Dragon, are you talking about me again? LOL

By: dargent7 on 2/3/10 at 2:51

"Three Dog Night"...now, there was a band. Played "spin the bottle" to "Mama Told Me Not to Come". Those were the days!

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 2:54

Didn't Hoyt Axton write that, Blanket?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:55

that question is way out of my league, g. i have no idea. i just know that it wasn't published by TMI Productions.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 2:57

Hoyt's mother co-wrote Heartbreak Hotel?

By: Loner on 2/3/10 at 3:23

Back online....what's up?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 3:28

been mostly quiet, Loner.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 3:35

Too quiet...someone must be gardening...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 3:41

Loner, you weren't gardening, were you?

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 3:44

Blanket, did you see where they finally debunked the whole "vaccines cause autism"? I know at least one family that believed that crap, I just hope their daughter doesn't get sick.

By: Loner on 2/3/10 at 3:48

Snowflakes are gently falling...winds aloft are calm.....think I'll go cross-country skiing tonight. The moonilght could be good. I like my new ski package..

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 3:50

yeah, i read that today. i can't believe the idiots that won't let their daughters get the vaccine for cervical cancer.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 3:51

i thought you had a poem at first, Loner. i know what you've been doing!

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 3:53

The flakes are a flyin'
and relaxes me so
I think I'll go skiing

By: Loner on 2/3/10 at 3:59

Enjoying mother nature, I was. An old hippie came to visit. We ranted and raved and enjoyed one of my signature lattes. I also introducd him to one of my favorite "fun" wines. It's called "Chocolate Lab" and it is made right here in the Finger Lakes region of New York..... It's served ice cold. Yes, a chocolate and concord grape wine sounds like a dubious mix, it turns out to be quite delightful. It's made by Pleasant Valley Wine Co., Hammondsport, NY.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 4:01

sounds interesting, Loner. sometimes things that don't sound like they should go together end up tasting pretty good. never can tell sometimes.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/3/10 at 4:02

i had espresso infused vodka made by Three Olives over New Years. it was really quite good, although i wasn't sure about it at first.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 4:03

Like chocolate and peanut butter. I tripped over a small table and got my peanut butter in my wife's chocolate, but it was pretty good. A candymaker should do that sometime.

I have never been to Arrington Vineyards on Sunday. Does anyone know if they can sell wine on Sunday. Just wondering! When I have been during the week, people are carrying it out by the case.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 4:05

To even suggest such a thing reserves you a spot in the hottest corner of Hell, brfa.

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 4:10

And I sayeth to you, never shouldeth thouest partaketh in wine consumption or purchase without the penalty of forced reality television upon your soul.

-Jesus Johnson

By: dargent7 on 2/3/10 at 4:13

bfra: The Winery's CAN sell wine on Sundays. Just like any bar/ restaurant.
If you go to Arrington, take out a second mortgage and bring your Amex card.

By: bfra on 2/3/10 at 4:18

g - I have been told on many occasion that I could go there!

By: gdiafante on 2/3/10 at 4:19

I get told daily. I'm beginning to get a complex.

By: bfra on 2/3/10 at 4:22

Just read the Tennessee Dept of Childrens Service have been accredited by the Council of Accreditation. In the wake of the 12 week old baby in a foster home, IMO, being murdered, makes me wonder who the morons are on this council.
