Viewpoints: Having Gordon for tea

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 10:45pm

President Obama wants his health care plan to be passed before March 18. That means we must act now and "Blue Dog Democrat" Bart Gordon [District 6 Congressman] is our target. [Join the Tennessee Tea Party at noon Wednesday at his office, 305 W. Maple St., in Murfreesboro.]

Gordon voted for the bill in the Energy & Commerce Committee before opposing it on the floor. On Thursday Gordon released a statement suggesting the cost-containment measures that President Obama proposed earlier this week to appeal to Republicans had steered the bill into more favorable territory.

He said, "I voted against the House bill in November because it expanded coverage but did not do enough to bring down costs. I'm pleased to see the discussion moving into a more fiscally responsible direction now."

With Gordon retiring, many fear he'll feel he "has nothing to lose" by voting for this monstrosity of a bill. He must remind him that he does in fact have a lot to lose if this bill passes, indeed we all do.

Grow up Stacie . It should be the ignorant party instead of the tea party - a bunch of buffoons who don't understand politics , law, the Constitution or anything else only a little face time on the news or in print . Relax the Oscars have already come and gone and I didn't see any of you there .

Good morning

The Tea Baggers are such a fearful bunch.

Now that Gordon is not running Burke fear that there is nothing to make Gordon vote the way Burke wants. I bet Stacie Burke also thinks that term limits is a good thing.

When Bush stayed in Iraq despite popular opinion, he was revered for standing behind his beliefs no matter the political fall-out. Now that Obama is doing the same with health care, he's called every name in the book.

Tea Baggers Pick Up Bad Habits from Al Qaida
The Drudge Report reports-- that someone is apparently taking a page out of al Qaida's play book and issuing a jihad against political cartoonist Mark Fiore over a recent humorous video entitled "How to Speak Tea Bag."

"Political cartoonist Mark Fiore wrote on his blog that he's receiving death threats over a 90-second animated film he created that teaches viewers "how to speak Tea Bag." Comparing his predicament to that of Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, Fiore writes, "Muslim extremist, meet Tea Party extremist." See Mark Fiore's blog."

Fun-O: You are so right.
GW Bush's "moral" convictions resulted in hundreds of thousands of people getting killed.
Obama seems to want to save lives. Yes it's costly, but anyone who thinks $720 billion spent in Iraq for a war based on lies was a better choice than here at home, is ______________.

Mr. Gordon may have a future job in mind when he cast his vote. I'm sure there
are many within the administration and special interest outside government
that would love to have use of his experience and yrs. of contacts inside the
government.

Who here besides me is willing to help Limbaugh move to Costa Rica? Ironic that good ol' Rush would want to move to a country that has a highly rated public health insurance system... can you say free oxycontin? God, he'll be deaf AGAIN in months!!!

brrrrk - If his popularity was rated on how much I have watched or listened to him, nobody would know who he is.

By: MamaG on 3/10/10 at 11:12

Bfra, I found out a little but, I wasn't satisfied with what they told me. I think they are worth more than what I was told so I'm going to get a second opinion, and maybe a third and fourth! LOl
I will have to check Nemo's cartoons later on this morning...I actually got busy here at work for a few minutes. I've been trying to get ahead because I have to leave early Friday and now, I'm out of my routine!

MamaG - I am skeptical of gun dealers, that I don't know, when it comes to appraising a gun & antiques.

I hear that they're working on a script for Speed 3... general outline, Sandra Bullock in a Prius after drinking a cup of coffee and eating a bran muffin. Yikes! Scares the hell outta me....

By: slacker on 3/10/10 at 11:38

Or is it blonde?

By: MamaG on 3/10/10 at 11:47

Well I think you may be right, bfra because they told me one of the guns was post-war, just barely but when I looked at the website slacker gave me, I was finding the most similar ones that were pre-war and worth quite a bit of money. The other one he said was worth about $250 but I've seen many for $350 and up. So, for sure a second opinion!

By: MamaG on 3/10/10 at 11:53

"Coming to a theater near you, Speed 3, sponsored by Toyota, Moving Forward, with or without you."

By: gdiafante on 3/10/10 at 11:58

Tea baggers = hypocrites. They didn't seem to have a problem with big government during the last eight years when government expanded.

Spoke to one the other day that said the government's only role is to build infrastructure and raise a military. That's it. Told him he should live in Haiti.

I'm tired of arguing with these nutjobs about it. Might as well resign myself to the fact that the idiots are running the asylum and move on.

I here that Alberta is a nice place to live.

By: bfra on 3/10/10 at 11:58

Wish I could help, but the guy I always depended on passed away, may he rest in peace. I bouight a .38 from a policeman one time for $100, took it to him and he wanted to see how bad my hand was burning. He disposed of it for me. .38s are very wanted guns. Especially S&W snubs.

By: bfra on 3/10/10 at 11:59

oops - bought

By: MamaG on 3/10/10 at 12:02

I do appreciate it though, bfra! I'll find someone. I have a friend who is a retired cop I could talk to but he lives in Knoxville and I don't see him very often. I'll find someone though, I'm sure. (these are both .38 but with 4" barrel)

By: brrrrk on 3/10/10 at 12:03

Anyone catch any of Becks interview last night with Eric Massa? He was so convinced that he had the big one... to see him squirm was priceless.

Don't they have a new graphite model that's lighter than air? Technology is awesome...the bullets are titanium alloyed superduper alien metal from outerspace that was discovered in Chief's tinfoil hat.

house - Palin might have one of those for hunting moose, since her style is not what I call hunting anyway.

By: bfra on 3/10/10 at 12:17

g - Haven't heard of those, don't think they have advanced that far in technology yet. lol

By: MamaG on 3/10/10 at 12:18

Well, the whole point of finding out about these guns is to get rid of them...I'm not looking for another one but, if I were, I would keep the Gat in mind! LOL
