Underwood will join Queen Latifah, who will perform “America the Beautiful,” in singing America’s praises. The Who will provide the halftime entertainment, but there’s no word whether Underwood will join them.

Other great performers who have perfomed the national anthem at the Super Bowl include: Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Whitney Houston, Garth Brooks, Cher, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, Dixie Chicks and Beyoncé Knowles.

The Super Bowl will be aired on CBS.

I hope Carrie will sing our National Anthem as it is written and not try to rewrite it for her performance as so many do at sports events.
