Miley Cyrus and Paramore will compete against each other, and some other notables, in the Best Song from a Movie category for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

Online voting started Monday at mtv.com and the winners will be announced during the 8 p.m. telecast on MTV Sunday, May 31.

Cyrus’ song “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie and Paramore’s “Decode,” from Twilight are pitted against Bruce Springsteen and A.R. Rahman of Slumdog Millionaire fame.

Voting online at mtv.com Voting closes May 27.

Directed by Peter Chelsom, Miley's ballad is all about staying optimistic in the face of tough decisions, like choosing between regular life and your secret pop star alter-ego, according to the MTV site.

“Decode,” directed by Catherine Hardwicke, is a song about building tension, awkwardness, anger and confusion, the ballot says.

Cyrus is also nominated in the category Other Breakthrough Performance – Female. There she competes against High School Musical 3 stars Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens.
