Go ahead, drive a Galant to your high school reunion

Don't even ask why I was at a high school reunion in Piscataway, N.J., just west of Newark. I drove up in a new Mitsubishi Galant GTZ to see my old college friend, George Podsiadlik. The Galant is arguably the most outstanding car in its $25,000 price range. It could easily pass for one that costs more.

George was never popular in school, but still a nice guy. His dad and he worked their tails off and made it big in the construction business. The company went public then was acquired by a multinational Fortune 500 conglomerate. Now George is a multimillionaire who drives a pickup.

He married Maxine Czaykowski. She'd been the queen of George's class, majorette, only went out with football players. When George hit it big, she dumped her quarterback husband and went after George
