Today the nation celebrates the birthday of a man who changed the course of social history, improving race relations through his philosophy of non-violence, love and community.

Born in Atlanta on Jan. 15, 1929, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. arguably became the greatest leader of the civil rights movement and among the greatest leaders in American history.
