The annual Gospel Music Week is underway with an appropriate theme, Music Without Walls, because no other music is as diverse as Christian music.
GMA Week culminates with the 32nd annual Dove Awards to be held Thursday at the Grand Ole Opry House. The show is sold out, but there will be a special Dove-viewing party in the Delta Ballroom A at Opryland Hotel for those interested. Tickets to the viewing party are $22 per person, which includes admission to a pre-awards party beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by the screening party at 8 p.m.
Third Day lead singer Mac Powell leads the field of nominees with nine total nominations, sharing seven of those nominations with his band. Fred Hammond follows with eight nominations for his work as the principal of Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ and his songwriting and production efforts. P.O.D., Mary Mary and Michael W. Smith each earned seven nominations. Steven Curtis Chapman and Mark Schultz have six nods each.
