New books celebrate CBS News

For many years the CBS network enjoyed a glowing reputation for quality journalism unmatched by their competitors. They employed a staple of first-class reporters and broadcasters, many of whom had initially worked at newspapers and/or as foreign correspondents for radio stations and foreign bureaus. As a result, such giants as Fred Friendly, Walter Cronkite, Douglas Edwards, Richard Salant and many others helped make CBS News a formidable journalism giant.
