Agent: Pacman still looking for new team

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 5:18pm

NFL training camps will be opening soon, and the Nashville-based agent for former Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones remains hopeful that soon his phone will ring with an invitation from some team for Jones to attend camp.

Worrick Robinson, who represents the troubled Jones, said he has been in contact with a few teams that mostly want to wait and see whether or not to bring the former first-round pick in for a look. He said it could even be after camps open around the league.

“We realize that anywhere he goes, we would expect that it’s going to be a media circus and people will take the focus off the team and try to make it about him,” Robinson said. “I’ve talked to a couple of teams that said they might be more interested in getting into the first weekend or so of camp, settling in and then maybe taking a look at him, because it would be such a circus when he comes to town.”

Jones’ troubles are well-documented, as he was involved in at least 12 incidents where police were called during his three-year run with the Titans. Jones was eventually suspended for the entire 2007 NFL season, after an incident in Las Vegas that led to a triple shooting outside a strip club, and the Titans finally traded him to the Dallas Cowboys in April 2008.

Jones’ lone season in Dallas was not without problems, too, however, as he got into a skirmish with one of his team-assigned bodyguards and was suspended again by Commissioner Roger Goodell. He returned to finish the season, playing in nine games before the Cowboys let him go at season’s end.

According to Robinson, Jones still lives in Dallas and has been working out there, hoping for another chance in the NFL. Robinson said the possibility of joining the upstart UFL, where many are speculating that former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick might land, has not yet been discussed as an option for Jones.

“We really haven’t talked about the UFL. I haven’t had any discussions with them, nor has Pac. We’re really not communicating with the UFL right now, only the NFL,” Robinson said.

Jones’ former agent Michael Huyghue, who negotiated Jones’ rookie contract with the Titans, is the commissioner of the UFL, which is scheduled to begin its inaugural season in early October, but corroborated Robinson in that the two sides have not connected with regards to Jones joining that league.

“I really don’t know what’s going on with him. We haven’t heard from them and have not had any discussions with them,” Huyghue said.

As for Vick joining the UFL, Huyghue said, “There’s really nothing new. We’re waiting for the NFL’s decision [on Vick’s suspension].”

In regards to Jones, who could be running out of chances, Robinson said that the first club to make an offer likely could land the cornerback.

“We’ve talked to several teams … we’re going to go with who makes the right offer and the best offer. We’re still waiting for the first formal contract offer,” Robinson said.

Is he still abusing women and spitting in their face? He is a thug and the NFL should ignore thugs!

Whe Pacman was a Titan his actions were misunderstood. Opportunistic fans would stalk him at bowling alleys and strip clubs. Then a gun would appear out of nowhere, jumping into poor Adam's hands. He should have been given more chances when you ask Titans fans. Coach Whispering Jeff took this troubled young man under his disciplinary wing. Oh there was hope for this contritie but talented player.

Fast forward to Dallas. Pacman does the same stuff and Titans fan is ready to kick him out of NFL.

Just like those Baltimore Ravens thugs. Slap your wife and Ravens player should be shot. Titans players drive drunk and slap wife, well you need to get off the road and wife should get out of way when husband swings.

You might be waiting a long, long, long time on this one.

What he is really saying here is that the UFL is beneath the former Titan and he is too good to be play for the dreary, ugly UFL. Get a clue, Robinson, your client is out of a job. He is down here with us regular folk. I would jump at ANY opportunity if I were you. What a waste of talent!!!!!!!!

"At least 12 incidents where police were called". That says it all. He should be happy he's among the 10 percent of Americans who are unemployed rather than the large percentage who are in jail.

The Dallas Cowboys, with it's history of thuggery and substance abuse, was the perfect place for him. Surprise they gave him the boot and glad they were stupid enough to take him off of our hands.

Maybe he and Michael Vick can hang out together, play catch with a small dog....

House, I am pointing out the inconsistencies of rabid Titans fans. "My team, always right and never wrong. Right George? I'll hang up and listen off air," or something like that.

More importantly I am disappointed in another non-story that Mr. McCormick reported. Many fans are on the edge of their seats. What end zone dance name did Chris Johnson choose for the upcoming NFL season? There was a non-story with an equally flat tease.
