Charity basketball game to bring some of NFL's top names to TSU

In two weeks more than 15 NFL players will descend upon the Tennessee State University campus for a celebrity basketball game.

TSU and the Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Foundation will host the second annual Celebrity Basketball Slam Jam, 7 p.m. April 13 at the Gentry Center.

Among those expected to participate in the game are Tennessee Titans Michael Griffin, Jared Cook, Marc Mariani, Jason McCourty and Gerald McRath. Cromartie’s Philadelphia Eagles teammates, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, will be on hand, along with former Titans quarterback Vince Young.

Former Vanderbilt cornerback Casey Hayward and safety Sean Richardson also are expected to play as is former Tennessee State point guard Wil Peters.

Rodgers-Cromartie, the Arizona Cardinals’ 2008 first-round pick out of TSU, is set to enter his second season as cornerback for the Eagles. His foundation provides programs for underprivileged children through enhancing educational, life and athletic skills.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door for adults. Tickets for children ages 12 and under are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. To purchase tickets, call the TSU ticket office at 615-963-5841.
