A content Young treasures his Pro Bowl invitation

Given what he has come back from, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young says he is making sure to enjoy this week at the Pro Bowl in Miami.

Young received the invitation after Philip Rivers of San Diego backed out of the game, and he now joins division rivals Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans and David Garrard of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the game for the AFC.

Only when a host of AFC quarterbacks bailed on the Pro Bowl did Young get this chance. And that's fine with him.

“Everybody has their own decisions. For me, it has been one of my dreams ever since I was a little kid, being in the Pro Bowl and seeing the keys it takes to get to the Hall of Fame,” Young told the media gathering on Thursday. “Being in the Pro Bowl is an individual goal as well as a team goal that I am trying to accomplish right now. This is one of (the reasons) right here, to go out and be able to represent my team.”

Young, who lost his starting job to Kerry Collins after the season opener in 2007, sat as the Titans second-string quarterback for the first six games of the season. After the Titans’ 0-6 start, Young was reinstalled as the starter and helped Tennessee to eight wins in the final 10 games. He completed 152 of 259 passes with 10 touchdown passes to seven interceptions. So getting to the all-star game is even more gratifying for Young.

“I’m definitely happy. I am not satisfied yet. I still have a long way to go,” Young said. “ To get a chance to get back in there, try to change it around and get some wins and get to the Pro Bowl shows the respect of the fans, players and coaches around me. I’m excited to be able to be out here, having a good time and be laughing and joking.”

Vince- your goal for this offseason is to study more and work harder than peyton manning. You have the tools, you have the ability, become a teacher of the game.
