LP Field will be the new name of the downtown football stadium, The City Paper has learned. The Tennessee Titans and Louisiana-Pacific Corporation are expected make the name official at a Tuesday morning press conference, according to a source close to the situation.

The stadium has been without a naming sponsor since the summer of 2002, when telecommunications giant Adelphia Business Solutions filed for bankruptcy and was forced to dissolve its naming rights, worth $2 million annually at the time. In the interim, the stadium has been called the Coliseum.

Titans owner Bud Adams, Louisiana-Pacific Corporation CEO Rick Frost, Mayor Bill Purcell and Tennessee State University President Dr. Melvin Johnson are expected to attend the press conference, where the new name and logo will be officially unveiled.
