The Ensworth Lady Tigers beat Knoxville Webb 50-48 on Saturday to win the Division II-AA state championship.

Ensworth senior Anna Bowers scored 22 points and hit the winning free throws with 6.3 seconds left to win the Most Valuable Player award. Marie Carpenter and Emily Perkins of Ensworth were named to the All-Tournament team in addition to Bowers.

Webb's Glory Johnson - a University of Tennessee signee -drove the length of the floor in the final seconds, but missed a 10-footer at the buzzer that would have tied the game. Johnson scored 24 in the game.

The Lady Tigers led 39-36 going into the fourth quarter and rolled off five straight points to lead 44-36.

But a three-point play by Johnson and a bucket by Webb's Faith Dupree tied the score at 46-46 with 59.6 seconds left.

Bowers and Johnson then traded free throws to tie the score at 48. Ensworth inbounded the ball and got it to Bowers, who collided with a Webb defender. Officials called a block, sending Bowers to the line for the game-winning free throws.
