The Nashville Predators are officially out of the running for future Hall of Fame forward Peter Forsberg.
David Poile, vice president of hockey operations and general manager, told a town hall meeting Tuesday night that Forsberg had passed on a deal with the Predators.
Forsberg finished the season with Nashville last year. He underwent surgery in December to repair a nagging foot problem. He turned down an offer to play for a Swedish Elite team last month, saying he wanted to return to the NHL.
Forsberg reportedly wants a two-year deal, with this season’s salary paid on a pro-rated basis.
Colorado and Philadelphia are also pursuing Forsberg. Speculation is that he will sign with Philadelphia.
