LPGA Returns to Middle Tennessee

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour will return to Middle Tennessee in May 2004 with a tournament sponsored by Franklin American Mortgage Company, organizers announced today.

The Franklin American Mortgage Championship will benefit Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and be hosted by Amy Grant and Vince Gill. The tournament takes place May 10-16 at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin with a purse of $900,000, and a minimum of $1,000,000 for 2005. ESPN2 will televise the tournament May 14-16.

"We are thrilled to have the LPGA return to Middle Tennessee," said Ty M. Votaw, commissioner of the LPGA.

Tournament officials said the company has signed a three-year agreement with the LPGA and a multi-year agreement with the title sponsor, Franklin American Mortgage Company (FAMC), and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Tournament week will tee off on May 10 with three days of pro-am tournaments and special events at Vanderbilt Legends Club. The week continues with the world's best female golfers taking center stage on

May 13, for the 72-hole LPGA tournament on The Ironhorse Course at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
