A pivotal member of Middle Tennessee State’s first Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball championship died recently.

Former starting center and Blue Raider Hall of Famer Tim Sisneros died on Friday, university officials announced Tuesday. He was 59.

On Monday, former baseball player, coach and athletic director John Stanford died at the age of 77.

As a senior, Sisneros averaged 22.1 points and was named the conference MVP while leading MTSU to its first OVC men’s basketball championship in 1975. The four-year starter at center eclipsed the 1,000-point mark, ranks seventh in program history in scoring and shot 52.9 percent from the field during his career.

A celebration of Sisnero’s life will be held 4-9 p.m. (EST) Monday at the Celebrations Banquet Hall, 3437 West Sycamore Street in his hometown of Kokomo, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hear Indiana in Sisnero’s memory. To donate, visit
